  • That was the gayest thing I've ever seen... (besides two dicks in a dude's mouth)

  • @Rossco343 Stop watching gay porn with your boyfriend!!! I wouldn't go around telling people that you have seen two dicks in a dudes mouth. lol

  • I'd like to know where FF's are making these ridiculous salaries. I'm in a city of 150k residents in the or so in the Northeast where pay starts at $42k and tops at $56k+/- until you get promoted. NO Bonuses (so whoever said delusional). I left a job with better bene's and higher pay in the private sector so no, the idea of "free bene's" is not true. Oh the pension? I pay 11% of my pay into the pension system. How much do you pay into your 401k? Oh, and I need to work 32yrs for it- not age 55.

  • I'd like to see the general public accept the unusually high cancer rate among firefighters.

  • I dont care how much they hate us... They dont call us less. Thats a fact. we put our lives on the line, and tear our bodies apart. Because of what we are exposed to over our career our lives tend to end early. Yeah we should get to retire at 55 and let the younger more energetic generation move in and take charge

  • @RockyWilburn Thats a fact brother! I've never been called over for just a spot of tea...lol It's usually in their darkest hour we are called to put the pieces back together.

  • Why do Teabaggers attack local government? The big federal government and the waste is the problem. We spend billions other countries, wars that accomplished nothing, and foreign aid and your worried about a couple of firemen making a decent retirement?

  • The Chief of Police of San Francisco just retired on a pension of $220K, which everbody pretty much acknowledges was "spiked." Your assertion that a retired engineer in Orange County gets $250K a year, with the implication that that is routine, is bogus.

  • WRong an engine does noit make 250,000 let alone receive that in pension. Perhaps the O.C. CHIEF ENGINEER this much, but the CHIEF ENGINEER IS NOT AN "ENGINEER!" He is the CEO of the fire department.

  • Everyone compares what firefighters make in California. They need to start looking in other regions. In the Tampa Bay area, the average starting pay for a firefighter is around 35k. Some pay into their own pension. Firefighters pay are going to be affected by the type and cost of living in those areas. Also a majority of firefighters are EMTs/Paramedics. Especially in Florida.

  • (ctd) or save your memories and your property so you can start your life again after a tragic turn of events. We wake up at 3 am, see dead children, cut people out of cars, or just take someone who doesnt know what else to do to the hospital. I wouldnt expect you to be naive, these occurrences dont happen everyday, but when you work a whole career, its not if, but when. BOTTOM LINE on average taxpayers pay $1.33 a day for firefighter wages and retirement, and $3.33 for a smart phone.

  • (ctd) and how do you justify it without even needing a college degree, well let me tell you. You have to be physically and mentally able to operate in an atmosphere that is trying to kill you every step of the way. We operate in total darkness, in incapsulating gear protecting us from temperatures up to 1000 degrees, all while your body temperature in increasing inside the gear sometimes tup to 108 degrees. We are literally killing our own bodies. Why? To try and save your family, or you....

  • (ctd from previous) There are very few if any firemen who retire with pensions above 100K a year that are paid form taxpayer money. The few exceptions would be appointed chiefs of large departments. If you know of any real insurance and tax benefits... please let me know, because I havent seen them. And the cost compared to avg citizens?? Do you pay more for milk at the grocery store than me? In the private sector, there are many more jobs that do not produce any tangible results...

  • DId you do your extensive research from the 6 and 10 pm news, are you really so naive that you listen to what "politicians" are telling you. In most states firemen will be penalized if they retire before age 55, considering the fact that most die before 65, we rarely get what we are projected to recieve. I could list 5 guys I know who have died within 3 years of retiring. Most of our medical insurance has been reduced to something resembling but slightly above medicaid... but more restrictive.

  • Just look at the basic facts. Firemen retire at 55, vs private employee retire at ???. Firemen pay with premiums and bonuses avg. $120k, vs private employee avg. $60k, and we are not even talking about medical, insurance, or tax benefits!? How can you possibly justify it given that you don't even need a college degree. The cost to the avg citizen to be competitive in the private market is exponentially higher than it is to be a fireman. The pendulum is going to have to swing back the other way.

  • @jackjacob62 $120 avg??? where do you get these numbers? Maybe Administrative Chiefs who have been on the Job for many years. Its rediculous how uninformed people are....

  • @sixgunrunn

Its all relevant to the area you live in. Where I work my Chief who has been in the fire service for over 35 years makes around $75,000yr. That means when he retires after working as a Department head for a smaller city that has had a surplus in excess of $2.5 million a year for the past 10yrs he'll make $60,000 with hes retirement. In contrast a guy from FDNY tops out around $99,000yr. However when you compare cost of living that's like making $45,000 here. Its all relative.

  • These huge numbers being thrown around are in areas where the cost of living is some of the highest in the country. So to the average American it looks out of control. When the news puts up numbers look into them. I checked a list fox put out for the top 20 highest paid pensions for public sector in Cali. They included a few mayors, deans of colleges, city supervisors and others who are running the gov and yet they don't tell you these pensions greatly skew the averages. Research for yourself

  • @sixgunrunn Just refer to the comments on the top of this page and you'll get a confirmation of what I'd just said earlier. If you refute my statements just ask any one of these fine californian firemen in this comment section. And don't for a moment assume that I may or may not be uninformed until YOU do your own research..

  • @sixgunrunn fire engineer in OC makes 250k/yr retired! check your self then check your numbers. you are a bunch of overpaid punks!

  • @jackjacob62 Boo Hoo jackwagon! Don't be pissed off at us because you work at McDonalds with a college education. Be proud of the fries and shakes you make. And yes...I do make 120K a year including all pay, overtime(about 3k give or take) retirement and health insurance. The town I work for the average income is 500k and the homes go for a lot more than that. So blow me, I really don't give a F#CK how much you think we should or should not be paid.

  • @LazyEyeRacer This is pathetic, you and your spineless cohort have sent along some pretty immature and presumptious rhetoric along my way. I really couldnt give a damn about your side of the debate at this point: you assume way too much and you don't think enough. Moreover, you act without honor, for your country nor your tax paying citizens. I can damn well assure you that WE the people will remove your welfare when it is undeserved; you are proving it right here and right now, to everyone.

  • @jackjacob62 Hey asshole...you don't know me! Keep giving the welfare to the people that don't work at all. I provide a service to the town I work for. So how is that welfare? You and your teabaggers can blow me!

  • @LazyEyeRacer you are an arrogant little kid with a misplaced sense of entitlement. You should not be calling jackjacob62 a jackwagon...you work for him! he pays your salary! You don't put out fires, on the rare chance you get a structure fire, you save the house at the foundation. you walk into my house on a medical aid with your dirty and haz mat covered turn outs and flirt with the wife of the patient. For christ's sake, it's chest pain, not chest pain with smoke showing! grow up!

  • @creature611 I'm older than you...jackwagon! lol Sounds like you couldn't get hired on a full time department.

  • @jackjacob62 Your "Basic facts" are total Bullshit... I'm just letting you know, stupid. Keep smoking that crack.

  • @jackjacob62 pull out your head before you suffocate.

  • @jackjacob62 pull out your head before you suffocate.Wait nevermind....:)

  • wait nevermind:)

  • @jackjacob62 I am in college for emergency management, as well as i am a part time non union firefighter/paramedic. i work on a combination department.. First, ppl run their mouths when they dont know what all is involved...if you are not active in the fire service...dont assume all we do is put out fires. there is a lot more behind all of that. Second, where do ff make 120, cuz i want a job there. In my area they start at 45K. shut up if you dont know what you are talking about.

  • @jackjacob62 JJ, you don't run into burning buildings. You don't work in the occupation with the highest cardiac death rate in the economy. You don't carry hundreds of pounds of equipment into places where the temperature can be hundreds of degrees. You probably don't work 24-hour shifts. There's a reason that firefighters are allowed to retire at 55. As for pay and benefits, they are commensurate with the risks and the training. If yours aren't, form a union.

  • @pdquick1 Well said, firefighting is a young man's profession. It is not sitting driving a forklift, working at a desk or a job that is the same thing everyday. Shortening your life expectancy by being awakened at all hours of the night from a dead sleep, exposed to every carcinogen imaginable, being ran over on freeway calls and a multitude of other risks is why your firefighters are compensated as such. pdquick 1 you hit the nail on the head!!

  • @jackjacob62 ok firemen retire early compared to private employees but last time i checked an engineer or banker isn't pulling someone out of burning building. Do you really want your life to depend on a 65 year old rescuing you from a 4th story window? I sure as fuck don't.
