the thing that gets to me in skating is that the skaters today are so much better.unlike Tennis where the racquets have evoloved with the play, in skating i bet you take a Patrick Chan and give him Ulrich Slachows skates and he can still land a QUAD. Imagine the crowds reaction in 1911 if he could do that.
I really enjoy watching these older routines - they lack the acrobatic skills but there's is a grace in their movement as they trace figures even in the free skating that I find very appealing

@armeniantamara Actually I don't think the skates from Salchow's day would have held up to a quad. The boots were quite soft compared to today.

@Chutson353 That's where the Olympics and World Championships were held in those days. Indoor rinks were not yet the norm.
