funny isn't it Russian writes a piece for the jubilee of winning the war from the French with typical flemish style and instrument( the chruchbells, we use them for making music)
@MrWojciech95 Yes, there is a fragments from La Marseillaise in this overture. It symbolize victories of French army at the first days of the 1812 war.
And that's a big IN YOUR FACE to all of you who thought classical music was boring. Just imagine live performances of this. Fortunately, there have been few casualties in recent years from this piece. Carnegie Hall had to be renovated in 2003 after this piece was performed and the percussion section got a bit carried away.
"Kindly reduce your volume by 30% now!" Uh, no. Cannons need to be louder. The reason I choose to listen to this recording is because it has the best cannons of any version of this piece I've ever heard.
My father was the first person to get me to listen to this song. And in my book I believe to one of the most powerful songs ever to be wrote. Thank you Tchaikovsky
This is among the top three presentations of this piece that I have heard. It is notable that the cannon fire is in the appropriate places according to the score. Being authentic cannon they have a good sound. The pace of the piece is pleasant. Only thing missing is the choral accompaniment (as with Eric Cunzal and the Cincinnati Pops). Would like to have heard the whole thing.
@raridan1 In my opinion, this version has almost the best part, the cannons are awesome, but I personally felt the style of this piece being played lacks some candenzas and moods.
Probably the reason they don't dig it is because of the loud noises and canons and bells. I guess some are sensitive to the noise. Im just glad I'm here to enjoy the great music! Thank you Mr Tchaikovsky!

I listened to this at full volume with my headphones on. Near the end my ear started hurting so I took the headphone out and there was blood on it, thats right, Tchaikovsky made my ears bleed! What a wonderful song!
and the white house burned burned burned and we're the ones who did it burned burned burned and things were very historical and president cried and ran like a baby wah wah wah in the war of 1812

@kendconcerto maybe you have american artillerists pic in the video with the music of Tchaikovsky who composed like in commemorating Napoleon's Invasion of Russia(n Empire)
I have a 1962 pressing of the stereo Dorati recording ( on the Phillips label ) and it is mixed differently to the 2007 cd pressing (Decca ); the bells are reverse-channel and the cannon sound has been 'doctored' and stereo phase-enhanced ( the 1962 LP cannon was centre panned).
Even this mono 1950's recording is another Dorati masterpiece.

@adriencardoso no they must be made to run though a field with this song playing while being shot at with modern day tanks and howitzers to understand the true meaning of this song
