CCRider, listen to the video to understand why he is on the fifth fret. It's easier for beginners to stary here because the hand is closer to you and the frets aren't as wide open. It's easier to pickup the speed this way. We all know where Perry actually plays the tune.

You play it very well and smoothly, but for those people wanting to get closer to the record, there are a few differences.

1. The opening riff is around an open position E chord, instead of around the 5th fret. The difference is you get the open A and D strings which makes it a bit more flowing.

2. The chicken picken riff on the verse is single notes only. I realize you are trying to make it sound like both guitar players, but the predominate sound is Joe Perry's single note riffage.
