@JohnnyBadHabit He got his terminology mixed up. The tone pot has a linear taper. The volume pot has a logarithmic or "audio" taper. It may seem like a linear increase in volume, but that's just because of how your ears work.
Audio taper = smooth, even shift
Linear taper = 0 to 10 in the first quarter turn, not much action after that
I do only know of one other video (I have it) which also has tons of superb material which keeps you sitting in your bedrom and practicing for years) is the instructional video from Brian Setzer.
True heard about him recently and I have to say he's one of the best and this licks and tricks video will give yeah all the fun to play his style. Amazing player.
Ha! This is the best instructional video I have ever seen. Danny was hysterical! Tons of great tips. I will be studying this vid for a long time. Thank you for passing down your great talent Dan!
I could have done w/o the little acid trip that the Hot Licks producers threw in the blues segment but luckily it was a quick trip and we got back to how awesome Danny truely was!!!
He was actually left handed that might go to explain the fantastic fret work that he used, he is very sadly missed. What I want to know is why is it that the real talent dies too young and all the crap lives forever?
nothing against shredders, but I am more impressed by this.
much more musical....once you get past the velocity, shred bores me,and nobody I know who loves shred actually listens to it for fun. I love Yngwie's playing but his records, the songs/lyrics/vox are boring .
Is he talking about using a reverse taper pot?

Indeed- I was fully into Vai et al, until I heard Gatton; at which point I dropped to my knees in front of the stereo and wept in disbelief.
