It sucks that we did not have good video capturing equipment back when the best music in the history of America was being played live and fresh. Later generations will only have a small clue of what they missed.
There is something about Geddy's vocals, especially Rush's earlier albums(2112-Farewell to Kings) that send a chill up my spine and give me goosebumps. After seeing them live in 1979 and every year since,I still get that chill. And I mean it in a very good way! Thanks.
i saw that show 76-77 well what i casn remember! ya lots a pot n acid! we love the way they would jam, then stop! best concerts were in the 70s ! music blows now a days! no talent
I remember seeing Rush at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in August of 1977.. Kicked so much ass that you didn't need any chemicals to get high-- you got high off of the mere experience. All The World's A Stage was also my fave Rush Album.
I think my dad saw the same show as you haha. Farewell to Kings tour 1976-77 I think. I'm wearing the shirt from that show in my newest video. Tell me if you remember it at all.
@psycmeistr OMG I was at that too....the Aragon sure was the place to be back in the day.....Nice to see a fellow Rush fan and Aragon concert goer......how bout that alley down the side
I got to see RUSH in 1977 and 1978 while they were at their peak. And I only had to pay $8.00 per show. Listen to Geddy's voice now and listen to it on this video. In my opinion his voice is not at 25% of what it was back then.
@dongtingwong I saw RUSH a number of times during those years too.If you find that Geddy's vocal range has diminished over the last 35 years, you are correct. It's called getting old.
@AssassinSteven But interestingly enough, you could take some of the best bands of today, with the best modern stage equipment money can buy and put them against Rush, live, 1976, with their 1976 stage equipment and instruments and Rush would eat them alive. I remember seeing Yes, back in the 1970s and I was blown away by how closely their live performances duplicated their studio sound. Same thing with the band Boston, their studio sound was perfect, but their stage sound was very good as well
excellent job...this music is from the live album "All the world's a Stage"...back when alex was playing the les paul thru the marshalls....ah, the good old days.
excellent job syncing the Rochester '75 footage to ATWAS...it must have been a lot of work to get similar visual cues, but the result is definitely worth it. Well done!
Too bad we can't find the original un-mangled version of that Rochester video (with audio) ...now THAT would be mind-blowing!
you cut it off right before the good part

This 76/77 early footage was taken after Alex's gibson 335 had an amp fall on it.
If you look close there is a clip of alex playing the 335 .Someone edited different footage.

Imagine. There are legions of devoted worshipers(blind as WELL as deaf)that
believe with conviction that Rush is"the greatest band in the world AND of all
time"(and these are actual QUOTES).IMAGINE?UNREAL!!And that Geddy the Tucan has "the greatest voice in music and that peart is(and i quote) the
greatest drummer in the world and a "god"!NO exaggerations! And they think that
REAL bands like YES,GENESIS,FLOYD etc are NO comparison to this
repetitive"all girl trio"that is so incredibly LAME
