Where do i apply? I like having fun and for 6 years ive been doing nothing but customer services. What better then to do it on a plane making a pretty good salary
Just completed the new hire orientation in Dallas. It was so much fun and so informative. Got to see, talk with and take a picture with Colleen (sure hope I spelled her name right.) Everyone at the Southwest headquarters is so friendly. They stress that we are a family, so when I speak of Southwest Airlines, I will only speak in terms of WE and not they. Am currently in training with FH and she is TOPS. Learning while having fun, does not seem like work at all.
@dominicancheif117 People Become Pilots because they have loved airplanes since they were young kids, because they love their office at 30,000 ft , it is a passion that stays with you throughout the years, never thinking how long will it last but hoping to do it as long as possible!
The People department @ SWA handles all Human Resource activites instead of using HR they us the People department Humans are People and not Resources to be expended
Do you hold an FAA Instrument, Commercial, Instructor and Multi Engine ratings?
Generally US airlines require that a potential first officer have 1500 logged flight hours and regional airline experience. Many require a certain amount of cross country experience as well.
if you become a pilot or first - officer for southwest and want to work in your home city, how many days of the month are you away from home? i need an exact number of days if possible thx.
I am currently getting Workmans Compensation (thank god) and have been off work for 6 months because of torn muscles in my shoulders from lifting heavy parts. I will have to get surgery soon.
have had similar experience with companies I have worked for. nice in the beginning and talk about team work. Then it all goes downhill I currently work for GM feels like you are walking into a prison on most days. They lock you in and you cant move towards the door til the buzzer goes off. While inside you are pretty much a slave to whatever and where ever they want you to work because (they will tell you regularly) there are alot of people who will take your job if you dont like it. )
i worked on the ramp in bmore also and they do treat you like shit. training is fun and they treat you real good in dallas. but when you get back to your home station it goes down hill. and working on the ramp is a bitch. its fun and easy at times but thats very seldom
just apply online... they hire just about anybody for the ramp just as long as you pass the drug test and dont have any serious criminal offenses. I miss the free flights and the healthcare benefits so much.
yep you get free flights from the very first day you get your badge... the benefits are great but you have to consider the fact that you WILL get injured. but I is really fun at times, but you have to get used to the strenuous work. the very first time you stack a bin, after 15 bags you will be so drained. but within 2 weeks, you will be stacking 90 like its nothing... and the veterans who work there take pride in a neat stack. but being on the ramp is like a fraternity... i miss it
I really couldnt balance school and that job. I was just way too tired when I left there everyday to go to school. then my back injury didnt get enough time to heal, and becuz im young i didnt want it to get worst and have to live with a really bad back for the rest of my life.
yea i work in baltimore on the ramp for swa and they treat you like shit for your first 6 months.. just dont come to the ramp cuz they will work the shit out of you

If you don't... than you have a LONG way to go.

More like 2500 hrs total, and 1000 hrs turbine PIC minimum with an ATP. Competitive is over 4000 hrs total with 2000 hrs turbine PIC.
