It's a bit strange that all the blue tents and other stuff (even parking lots) were ready on the chinese side waiting for the 30,000 refugees (some of them driving expensive cars!) lol. China also didn't allow the UN to interview the refugees. I think China knew all along what was going on (they have satellites!). It's just a geopolitical maneuver so that the world doesn't think Burma is totally under Chinese control and it gives the junta a fake sense of sovereignty. Peng can be sacrificed.
Burmese generals are upping the ante, man. Is China going to blink? What about its "string of pearls" strategy to have naval control of the Bay of Bengal. It's true, China could invade Burma, but would the US and India just stand by? Maybe. Then Burma will become the next Tibet and ASSK can go into exile and visit Taiwan like Dalai Lama hehehe
I think US will only bark and do nothing. After all China and US are business partner.
Ever since the end of WW II The killing has been going on for so long in Burma. After Vietnam war western country don't want anything to do with South East Asia anymore. India may supplies arms to Burma but risk confrontation with China.
this is most ridiculous comment i ever seen. i am dam sure who write this post have no idea about Myanmar (Burma) and it relationship with neighbor countries. Russian, India, and China support Myanmar(Burma) .
There have always been a lot of Chinese drug dealers and gem merchants in that region and most of them are not really Burmese citizens. Recently there has been a sizable influx of illegal Chinese immigration to Burma (not really tourists lol) because of natural resources. Some of these Chinese "businessmen" are getting rich too quickly (with the help of members of the junta) and there is a lot resentment amongst the poor Burmese villagers who have always suffered. Elections are coming up!

Burma is playing a Dangerous game here.
If a large scale fight breaks out I have a feeling China is going backing Kokang and WA State.
Burma will not succeed leaving a lot of dead troops and then being vulnerable of attack by Bangladesh for Oil.
This would probably lead China to invade Burma and fight between China and India may break out.
