I happen to think the "War on Drugs" has cost a lot of money, imprisoned a lot of people for petty offenses, and has been ineffective. It's as easy now if not easier to get drugs. Me myself I don't drink, or do any drugs. When I am given a prescription of pain killers I have to take a 50% dose because a full dose is too strong for me.
@3martijns - The last time I had any alcohol, or any form of drug (Marijuana) I was in 9th grade. I am now 40 years old. Though I have seen a lot of friends devote far too much time too drugs. I've seen family members die and throw their lives away. I consider Alcohol, Caffeine, Nicotine, prescriptions, etc all of them drugs. They alter our body chemistry. I drink a bit too much Caffeine at times and on very rare occasions I've had a prescription (last was 2 years ago).

I pretty much searched google for images when I put this together. Some of them I knew what I was looking for like the Reichstagg Building Fire. You could pause the video and do a print screen and paste it into any image program you like. If you have no luck I can likely pull them out of the vast number of images I collected or this project. :)

Wood = what comes from a tree. Reed = type of plant. So, I literally don't know if "i wood reed a book" was meant to be a joke or not. @ralphinator - Really the entire Left/Right, Republican/Democrat paradigm is an illusion or possibly a delusion. There are far more than two types of people, or even three. If anyone gets stuck in those paradigms they really cannot see the truth. It's kind of like have the wrong prescription for your vision. To see the truth those types of ways of labeling and viewing things need to be tossed out the door. Jon is a truther. The truth only has one side. Analyze facts make decision.

Instead of left or right i like to think of it as collectivist or individualist.
Collectivists (Stalin, Hitler, Marx) believe that the masses are too stupid to take care of themselves and believe in a strong government to make decisions for them.
Individualists (George Washington, thomas jefferson,) believe that there are no groups only individuals. They believe that individuals have the right to pursue happiness and make their own economic and personal choices.

@fieldman07 - That is certainly a better choice of words than Left and Right. It is much more informative about a standing. Yet, even then it is important to remind ourselves (myself included) that there are more than just two types of people. I feel your titles of Collectivist and Individualist are much more suitable but, I do not believe when people say Left and Right for example they do not match up to those two titles. I think you likely agree but, I thought I should at least respond.

@fieldman07 Just for the record. I am more an individualist. There are some people that in varying degrees try to straddle somewhere between those two paradigms. Whether that would work I am not the one to say. I believe in freedom in liberty and the freedom of speech. Therefore, even the person that believes in collectivism or somewhere between the two has the right to speak and be heard. That right was not created to protect the masses but, the lone speaker. :)

Hermann Goerig nailed it right on the head. But it didn't take this music or this song to open my eyes. I have known this for a long time. Jon Schaffer's completely honest-to-God lyrics only support the theories I've known for quite some time now. And obviously Mr. Schaffer is no fool. But sadly, most of the american people are. And unfortunately, they outnumber the wise. So I only see it getting worse. God bless Jon Schaffer for this album.

@fknturd - Agreed. 1) Most americans/world seem to get their news still from corporate controlled TV media sources. A source that long ago stopped practicing the rules of journalism. 2) Education is becoming worse and worse. I know that from first hand through a job I held for 3+ years dealing with 300+ "higher" education institutions. 3) Many people only remember the last speech a person gives and conveniently forget anything that person said prior to that. Stupid practice. Lazy.

@futurewavecs - I wanted to add. I did not practice the rules of journalism in this piece either. I am aware of that. However, I do not claim that this is a source of news and journalism. Sadly, sensationalist practices have made it so anything that is journalistic would probably not be watched. Not enough flash, flair, and attention grabbing stuff for todays populace. :(

....with quiter words but making more sense if you think it through...This is what I would like better....(That's also how I felt with the "politics of ecstacy" album even though it was a bit more sophisticated.... Even though the songs are good, the lyrics are interesting I wouldn't be able to listen to the songs like a regular Iced Earth because I would feel like being "bombardized" the whole time with meanings etc...
Don't get me wrong, hope you understand what I'm trying to say..

Different things reach different people. The problem is a lot of people don't see the hidden meanings so, it is refreshing for an in your face song. I love Nevermore and "Politics of Ecstacy" though. I love all of their stuff. One of my favorite bands. Poison God Machine!!!

lol the terminator image was awesome...Don't really like "political" lyrics in my music but making it as a concept its acceptable...
I consider the average metal listener with haveing the average iq level so some things are common sense...some others are taken for granted...so what I mean is that straighforward lyrics in your face don't really mean much - they do get you pissed of with some events - unless you are really stupid.
I would prefer to listen to "hidden" meanings....

I pretty much searched google for images when I put this together. Some of them I knew what I was looking for like the Reichstagg Building Fire. You could pause the video and do a print screen and paste it into any image program you like. If you have no luck I can likely pull them out of the vast number of images I collected or this project. :)
