the easiest way to remove a disk from your ps3 that wont work (same as this blokes) is (while its turned off) hold the eject button while turning the power on and your ps3 should make a sound (like the fan is working) and eject it after a couple of seconds, may take more than 1 turn.

@shabak93 : That works for PS3s with two USB ports in front, was that a 40GB HDD one? Mine has four USBs in front and has 60GB HDD and then this "automatic" ejection doesn't, unfortunately, work and you have to resort to this method fraz shows here.

Sony should offer a core version of the ps3 slim, at a lower price point. My ps3 4usb died but I still have a packed 80gb hdd,and my contoller. After researching the death of my ps3 I came across 1000's of others that had the same cause of death. You dont need to open the system. All you have to do is turn it off from the back, then rest your finger on the eject button and turn it back on. The system will then initiate a loud fan cleaning thing and as its doing that, repeatedly tap on the eject button and the game will come out. This works the majority of the time and saves you the hassle of taking apart your damn ps3.

cuz when a ps3 gets YLOED it means the motherboard got burnt or something similar , so if the motherboard got damaged the other devices can't respond cuz the motherboard is the main thing that controls these devices .

basically when the ps3 heats up the heat sink around the cell processors passes the heat on. It is limited to round about 100 degrees C. If your ps3 is in a confined space this increases the likelihood of this problem occurring. So the method of removing YLoD is to replace the hat sink on the cell processors.

put the 60gb hard drive with the 80gb hard drive(they can be changed without affecting the warranty). then get a storage device like a psp or usb drive and transfer it to that then put it on your new hard drive.

Hey, i removed my game from my dead ps3 from the help of the manual...idk y hes doing a more 'dangerous' attempt. Its simple, when the light keeps flashing RED, press the on button sensor(next to the eject button) until it remains red with no flashing. Leave it unattended for a while, then quickly press the eject button sensor, and like that, the disc should come out. I guess it reboosts the power long enough for you to remove the disc. dont expect to get your ps3 running though..
