This trade has turned out great for STL Colaiacova has been lights out of d and has been a solid puck mover and has added a lot to the PP. Steen is a good defensive player and chips in now and then.

Well the Leafs knew that they were probably going to end up being good players.. oh well. Colaiacovo was always out of shape (exactly like Wellwood) and Steen wasn't producing at all. They had all these young guys coming in and they really didn't have room for playing that weren't doing anything for the team. Can you imagine if you added another defenceman to their group now?? :P

He scores a ton of game winning goals. He is the only player on the blues who can score consistantly from the high slot. Boyes, Tkachuk, Kariya, Oshie all score from close. Stempniak could BURY from the top of the circle (the first Blue to be able to do so on a consistant basis since Demitra.) After he scored 27 goals his first year, teams start keying in on you.

We will see what happens.

Worst trade so far this season! Steen is a great forward for the Leafs, and Colaiacovo would be a fanstastic defenseman if he would be healthy for a full 82 game season. This is just pathetic for Fletcher and his way of 'rebuilding' this team. First Wellwood, now Steen and Colaiacovo! I hope the Leafs get a much better management and keep some of these young, essential players in T.O.!!!!! And as for Toskala, why not trade him Cliff! I'm a leaf fan, but you are the problem with Leafs nation - happy with mediocrity. Let's be fair, Alex Steen wasn't even mediocre - he was very poor. 4 points in 20 games is pathetic. I always got the sense that he was overrated and he just hasn't cut it yet and it's for no lack of oppurtunity. He's had time on the first line/PP many times, but he just hasn't done it here. TIME to move on.

Supercolossal its true that leafs got to many defencemans but we need better ones if you get better ones like skilled like lidstrom pronger and such defenceman like those toskala won't be as bad and remember defencemans also help the goalie out buy letting him have easy nights were you only have 25 or less shots on you almost every game. the leafs need to work on shot blocking reducing the shots on toskala can reduce the goals agaisnt

stajan is leading the team in points, and he's not an "up and coming" player, he's a 20 goal scorer. Blake is their "all-star" whos earning 10% of his salaray, Antropov is the best player on the team, and nobody other than a toronto fan knows who he is...they need a goal scorer more than anything else.

You still can win a lot of games if every one works hard and no quit where just everyone contribute to the scoring last night against the penguins they scored 7 goals. All i think is that the goalies need to be consistent not scoring. They are averaging 3.15 goals as of right now they scored 101 goals this season thats top 5 in the eastern conference and ranked 8th in the NHL scoring for goals for. The leafs are almost half from last year at this point last year they got 231 as of right now its
