freind is that the engine of ur royal is powerfull than new royal enfield 500cc clasic... im really impressed in ur bike an also can u say me the modle of ur royal... thx
This is not as Royal Enfield designed them in the 40s,but its pretty close. Also the company did not move to India, the bikes where made under licence there and when the company closed down in England, the Indians carried on making them.
I learnt to ride a motorbike on one of these monsters when i was 16 & at 9 stone I could just about hold it upright. Damn near broke me leg every time I kicked it over. Beautiful machine you got there mate you done her up good :)
Hi Can you tell me what the blue addition is to the outside oil line to the rockers, I guess it is a none return valve or something like that. My curiosity has got the better of me. A real smart bike well done
this bike is stunning, :) if i was gonna tour you can keep ur gs,s n harlys, id take this any day its awsome unspoilt bikin at its most simple and very economical , il send a vid response of my bike :) lol damn near broke my thumb :)
What a beauty! You have her tiddled to the nines. Kudos on your fabrication of flyscreen, mounts and camera mount. Thanks for sharing that beautiful sounding engine.
a nice looking bike but needs to scap english technology. Best use japanese tech and would be alot better and extremely more reliable. I would eventually like to own one if they finally change the motors.
she is so lovely, I'm about to get one myself. I'm in Los Angeles which is perfect but cant decide whether I should shell out 400 bucks more for the classic version or just stick to the Deluxe? Now being Indian, I fondly love all the unreliable things the British make lolol
You mentioned it to be British and everything under the son but you choked to mention it is made in INDIA -thats Innnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaa how come?
Hi Guys. May I ask if that is the standard place for the battery? Mine is on the side where your ignition coil is (Bullet 65) it looks very tidy there under the saddle. It's a lovely bike and it can sure pop along. Here in the UK we used to say big singles used to fire once every other lamp post (streetlight to you) I'm impressed with the tidy screen mounts too you must have had to drill the casquette to mount them, nicely done. REgards to all US Bullet riders from the British Bulleteers.
Great bike bro , I,m test ridin some RE this weekend at a local dealers , i,m swaying to the trail as on the farm i get alot of off road ridin , but the clubman cafe racer looks the nuts & will piss my dad off as hes just itchin to get back on the saddle since he stupidly sold his Velocette , LMAO .
I'm a twin man myself, but you gotta love the one lungers. They are the textbook definition of simplicity. I think triples and fours are just showing off. Yet I see BMW is trying to bring back sixes.
but on arriving in the mountains i would change the front sprocket and it would carry me up and around those mountain roads and passes all day, i'm your size and maybe bigger and the only trouble i ever had was getting a decent seat and had to have one made in the end but we have a little more choice outside india, and all the enfields i had out there were 350s so yes a 500 with sidecar would be fine, when set up properly the enfield will go all day, happy riding fella
remarkable bike! i want to buy the bullet G5 millitary, its a 27.5 hp olive green with the solo seat also...just a gorgous bike but would it do good in the mountains? i weigh more than 200lbs and i wanna get a sidecar for it to go with a passenger but im not sure how it will do in hills or for trips more than 100 miles. any ifno will be much appreciated!
hiya, i had a bar in goa india for 3 years and had enfields all that time, during the monsoon i would take the bike up to the himalaya mountain rangeand travelled all over the himalayas, thing is with enfields they are certainly not the best bike in the world but do have a certain amount of nostalgic beauty about them that is irresistable, truthly i know nothing about these new engines
i think the Engine timing belt needs checking. The silencer ( Near the engine ) seeems burned out. Overall. Excellent. One more Question. is it right that the wheels turn when in neutral. You mentioned something regarding the Clutch, but i have the same problem due to which my fuel consumption was TERRIBLE. GREAT BIKE OVERALL. REally love the look
@Naturepheonix Thats not what this bike is about. If you want a zillion mph screamer buy a Jap. Bullets should be used to thump along at a leasurely pace so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the sunshine, the smell of the country and just riding this piece of British (made in India) history.
man!! i never have commented on videos before. but this is amazing!. i started riding one of these beast's while i was 20 years old( noting fancy a good ole fashioned royale enfield 350 cc).( i am 43 yrs old now). after trying everything from a honda, kawasaki to a holy grail harley, i can never get enough of these!!!. may be i am a bit too old fashioned! love it
What year/model is this? This is th one i really like i just cant seem to find one in Australia for the right money. does the modified carby give it bit more power? do the stock ones sit at 60mph comfortably for a while?
i got one live in Delhi but am going to get it shipped to uk. Its the real deal 350 cast iron job right hand side gears 4 speed a front drum thats totally usless enlarged tank. The real joy is crusing about 60 k and listening to the thump thump thump. There is something that just graps you with a built.
The Royal Enfields and Triumph Bonnevilles are, and will always be, my favorite motorcycles in production. I'm so thankful they've stayed true to their roots.
tehratcatcher is right. 50-60 is the magic zone on these. I haven't even tried to see how fast I can go but with my mods, 75-80 is realistic. Just remeber not to keep it there or you are going to get to experience what is known as "catastrophic failure". Unless you are modified to 612cc and then with taller gears you can cruise all day at higher speeds. Maybe.
nice video, nice bike. quite well kept for a bike "they forgot to stop making".lol.
I'm planning to pick up mine some time next week. what performance mods would you recommend after the warranty runs out? i wouldn't be happy with a stock machine.
cheers, thanks for sharing and thumbs up to your light hearted sense of humor!
Royal sound between 6:33 and 6:50 ......... that is bullet. You hear 2 miles before and 4 miles after it leaves. When we were kids in India we used to bet how long we can hear the dup dup dup ...
all i can say is what a bike man what a bike!.....m in love with this bike.....good job bro and really looking forward to get one of these....which bike is it? 350 electra?
A mate of mine would like to buy a classic Enfield, but he 's been told that any bike made after 2008 has to be fitted with fuel injection instead of carb, due to EU rules.
New engine I believe too, they've scrapped the old style cast iron cylinders amongst other things. It still looks the same though and I believe, sounds the same!. Only the 350cc version is british designed though, the 500cc engine is of indian origin, made to keep the yanks happy with their big open roads. still nice though!
Probably the best sounding Enfield I've heard on the net, only thing I would take exception to would be your 'Loud Pipes Save Lives' motto. I would say wearing protective gear saves lives :)
WOnderfull Back in india This was our Harley. Only real men with mustaches rode one of these... Sadly Royal India is killing the mechanical engine of this and favoring a modern engine with computers More reliable but some of us gear heads actually use those tool boxes. :)
I knew that the electronic-ignition engine was an option but I didn't know they were going to completely discontinue making the old 6.5:1 motor. I went to a RE dealer the other day and I was told that the old motor was available on special order.
Beautiful bike, I went to the Royal Enfield dealership yesterday and lusted after two Bullets they had... I hope to put one of those beauties in my garage within a month or two!
Wonderful, they are still a work of fuctional art, my pop would love this as they (him and the badd-azzed Van. gang lol)drove lots of them in the '50's, well them BSA's, Norton's, and a few Indians too. Simply a great machine and like you said, like going back in time.
I am thinking about buying one of these. How do you get 80 mph on it? Is it the Mikunis? I was surprised to see that you could do expressway speeds on this. My plan was for a bike for relaxed Midwestern riding during the summer.
I was unaware that the 5 speed ran in oil, but unless I'm missing something, what I said still stands. The bike in the video is in neutral with the clutch lever fully out and so the clutch FULLY engaged, it can't slip if its locked together, so the drag must be coming from somewhere else - the gears on the shafts.
The back wheel always spins on these when not in gear - as the gear shaft runs around the drive shaft. Not nearly as much pull as clutch dragging, barely noticable unless the back wheel is off the ground.
Is that how they work. I don't know too much about these (just that it couldn't be the clutch), I bought one after putting the comment so I should find a lot more out about them in the future.
No its not. Its a 5-Speed Box which you'll find runs oil and Not grease like the 4-speed Box. The clutch naturally drags a little when in neutral and turns the box slightly, happens in most gearboxes. If the Clutch fully disengaged there would be no spin.

The bike in the video is in neutral with the clutch lever fully out and so the clutch FULLY engaged, it can't slip if its locked together, so the drag must be coming from somewhere else - the gears on the shafts.
Thats a very mature comment. They are for people who dont want to be part of the unimaginative masses. Also for those who like tinkering and upgrading without the ridiculous expense of doing the same on a Harley or whatever, just to be exactly the same as every other rider on the road.
I ride a 612cc bullet hardtail chopper, I'm also 6'4 and 16 stone, tell me my bike is "Cuntish"...Wanker!
You're a bit of a dickhead really, aren't you topfueltony. I suppose a history of decades of bike production, supplying armies, winning ISDT events - amongst others - and still selling now, albeit not quite "English", definitely proves your statement - not! The only cuntish thing around here appears to be you - a fine specimen of cunthood. Tosser.
i got enfield totaly modified much much beter then this since i changed all tank side box big tyre fronf fork larger then the regular meters on the tank but i need the biger engine i am gona upload soon the video of ma bike
any help for performance or where i can get biger engine for enfield
Oh that is a Sexy bike.. I just love the sound of it! Specially the older ones..that did not have the Glasswool to supress the sound, ah!! and the Amp meter ! (Watch before you kick)
I own a triumph bonneville t100 which i love, but i have been thinking about getting a bullet as a seccond bike, possibly a sportsman cafe racer, but i like the trials bikes too, cant decide!.
The Bonnies were T120(650) T140(750) then came the T150 Trident three. There were others - the T110 (TonTen), Thunderbird, TwentyOne. Trophy (TR6-TR6P in police guise). Won't bother mentioning the TigerCub - although it wasn't too bad a bike really.
No you missunderstand, i have one of the New Bonnie's it is two years old, has a cappacity of 865cc, and is called Bonneville T100. and it is the most beautiful bike in ...... my town.... maybee. Black tank with opal white pannels and gold hand painted pinstriping. lovely to look at, always draws a crowd of older guys, Built in Hinckley Leicestershire. although some parts are made elswhere, its as close to a british bike as you can get.
I take your point, and apologise for seeming to be a bit "know it all". When you read some of the nonsense different people post, you wonder if they ever owned a bike at all.. The confusion came because as the posting was about "old" bikes (well, sort of!) I didn't think to mention the new Triumphs. Sorry... Best wishes, Les.
Hi and greetings, from a fellow Enfield and Brit iron enthusiast in the UK. I frequently visit your film for a nice sunny ride on that wide open road. Thanks and keep on thumpin.
Great bike, great vid, I love these bike but the fact you have to fairly mechanical minded to own these things, if they were more reliable, they would sell a lot more, sadly I am not, still a great bike though.
Love the video sir,and love your bike!I love enfield thumpers, and yours is the nicest i have ever seen.I wish the motorcycle industry would make more 50,s,60,s70,s style bikes new again.modern bikes just don't do it for me,no class or beauty, and i think simplicity is the key word for this beauty.
Loved it. That's how bikes used to sound before the Japs made them buzz and howl. I think I might get one of those. When I first started riding back in the late 1960s, we used to pick up old fifties bikes for £10 and such derisory sums. Sadly, they had often been horribly abused and neglected and were always breaking down. We never went anywhere without a full set of tools. My mate had an old BSA and the exhaust valve would stick open so we had to have the head off and on twice in a ride!
Fantastic I have the Bullet 65 2003 year same colour 5 speed this is my second enfield love them to bits, nice job on the bike and the video. thanks Terry UK

Is this the 4 speed or 5 speed model?
bigjoe87865 3 years ago
Wow that is one of the nicest motorcycles ive ever seen. Im glad to see they forgot to make them. That will be the next bike I add to my collection.
coonwody 3 years ago
That bike is to cool. Your video shows it off very nice.
It makes me want one for myself. I like the windscreen and camera mount you built.
If I buy a bullet would you make me a windscreen and camera mount like yours????
Thanks for posting such a good video.

Probably the best sounding Enfield I've heard on the net, only thing I would take exception to would be your 'Loud Pipes Save Lives' motto. I would say wearing protective gear saves lives :)

could the idle be affected by the drag on the clutch?
censor48 3 years ago
Its in neutral if you notice, so can't be the clutch. The gearbox drag might have some effect if the oil is cold I would guess.

5stars!

I am thinking about buying one of these. How do you get 80 mph on it? Is it the Mikunis? I was surprised to see that you could do expressway speeds on this. My plan was for a bike for relaxed Midwestern riding during the summer.

What a nice ride! The shop I used to work in never had any of the singles, only the 650 twins.
Bullettube 3 years ago
I was unaware that the 5 speed ran in oil, but unless I'm missing something, what I said still stands. The bike in the video is in neutral with the clutch lever fully out and so the clutch FULLY engaged, it can't slip if its locked together, so the drag must be coming from somewhere else - the gears on the shafts.
will1477 3 years ago
The back wheel always spins on these when not in gear - as the gear shaft runs around the drive shaft. Not nearly as much pull as clutch dragging, barely noticable unless the back wheel is off the ground.
harryfmk 3 years ago
Is that how they work. I don't know too much about these (just that it couldn't be the clutch), I bought one after putting the comment so I should find a lot more out about them in the future.
will1477 3 years ago
It's not clutch drag, it's the grease sticking the gears to the shafts
will1477 3 years ago
No its not. Its a 5-Speed Box which you'll find runs oil and Not grease like the 4-speed Box. The clutch naturally drags a little when in neutral and turns the box slightly, happens in most gearboxes. If the Clutch fully disengaged there would be no spin.

hi i have a royal enfield rifle made with precision and a work of art but the bikes are cuntish...thanks topfueltony..xx
topfueltony 3 years ago

Tosser.

I own a triumph bonneville t100 which i love, but i have been thinking about getting a bullet as a seccond bike, possibly a sportsman cafe racer, but i like the trials bikes too, cant decide!.
MITCHWILD 3 years ago
Err, the T100 is just that - a Tiger Hundred
The Bonnies were T120(650) T140(750) then came the T150 Trident three. There were others - the T110 (TonTen), Thunderbird, TwentyOne. Trophy (TR6-TR6P in police guise). Won't bother mentioning the TigerCub - although it wasn't too bad a bike really.
RR1804 3 years ago
No you missunderstand, i have one of the New Bonnie's it is two years old, has a cappacity of 865cc, and is called Bonneville T100. and it is the most beautiful bike in ...... my town.... maybee. Black tank with opal white pannels and gold hand painted pinstriping. lovely to look at, always draws a crowd of older guys, Built in Hinckley Leicestershire. although some parts are made elswhere, its as close to a british bike as you can get.
MITCHWILD 3 years ago
I take your point, and apologise for seeming to be a bit "know it all". When you read some of the nonsense different people post, you wonder if they ever owned a bike at all.. The confusion came because as the posting was about "old" bikes (well, sort of!) I didn't think to mention the new Triumphs. Sorry... Best wishes, Les.

I can relate this to AK 47 and i own both. Great video.

Hi and greetings, from a fellow Enfield and Brit iron enthusiast in the UK. I frequently visit your film for a nice sunny ride on that wide open road. Thanks and keep on thumpin.

Great bike, great vid, I love these bike but the fact you have to fairly mechanical minded to own these things, if they were more reliable, they would sell a lot more, sadly I am not, still a great bike though.
ukchris64 4 years ago
Love the video sir,and love your bike!I love enfield thumpers, and yours is the nicest i have ever seen.I wish the motorcycle industry would make more 50,s,60,s70,s style bikes new again.modern bikes just don't do it for me,no class or beauty, and i think simplicity is the key word for this beauty.

They do. I saw a 2007 black Bonnie a few nights ago. Motor in black, too. A jaw dropper. A piece of sculpture, really.

I love what you've done to it.
Im guessing that's an Electra 5S.
Personally I prefer the models with the traditional 4 speed gearbox with the gear shift on the right hand side. Do they sell those in the US?
