If the original band got back together and went back to the sound and style of this first record I'd buy it in a minute - I've listened to EZO hundreds of times over the years. FANTASTIC band, should've been HUGE!
Great tune. True, these guys could and should have been huge. My first exposure to them was when they opened for Guns N Roses at a small club in Philly, the Trocadero. Probably early summer of '86, just prior to the bootleg release of Appetite for Destruction. Guns sounded shitty 'cause Slash was so wasted he could barely stand up. But, still a good show all in all. Thanks for the upload.
........ HEY !! check out all their music ... from flatbacker to loudness ... its hard to pick a favorite disc ... AWESOME SINGING ISN'T IT !!! ;-) >>> thanks
These guys used to kick total ass! If you haven't heard their song "Destroyer" you owe it to yourself to check it out! It's one of their very best. It was written about Gene Simmons
@bobbyalligator7 You're right also, but it was written with a double meaning Gene Simmons kinda took them under his wing during this 1st album, & even co-produced it. So that song "Destroyer" was kind of a tribute to him. Think about it, the title was the name of a Kiss album, the lyrics on certain verses "Spit fire" & the chorus,"Destroyer on Leather wings"..... I vaguely remember reading about this in a Rock mag, back in the 80's None the less these guy's should have been huge.
This has always been one of my favorite albums, but my tape is completely warped and I've been having a bitch of a time finding it on cd. There were a few different Japanese metal bands being played on The Headbangers' Ball at the same time, but people were still carrying around the WWII prejudices and wouldn't give them the attention they deserved.
1987 rocks!! Amazing 80's song! I'm trying to get a hold of EZO's albums on CD. They are very hard to come by, looked on Ebay a few times, but they only seem to be available on Vinyl or tape.. :-( Kicks ass, hope to find a CD copy soon..! :-)
I REMEMBER 1987 very well......I remeber hearing "flashback heart attack" on KNAC and going and buying the cassette. Of all of the cassettes I bought in 1987 this one was one of the few of them with ALL GOOD SONGS. Shoyo's git playing hasn't been duplicated yet....he did all of that stuff WITHOUT a digitech "whammy" like alot of people think he did.....this band was a good representation of real good rock n' roll with some top-notch songwriting, too. Definitely one of my faves from '87
OK MOFOS!!! I think I found Shoyo Iida!!! Apparently he's working as an executive Sushi Chef at a restaurant in Miami called SushiSamba. It's a fusion of Sushi, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine. Place looks high dollar, but you can apparently take sushi lessons from Shoyo Iida himself!!!!
great track...but I first heard it in the Japanese language version...that I bought on a Metal compilation LP in Germany. Great band. My fave song is House of 1,000 Pleasures.
This was their best song! Followed closely by Destroyer. Good musicians, solid arrangement, killer style! They were ahead of their time. The jerk-offs at Sirius Hairnation can't seem to add this song to their playlist.
This video is sweet!!! Thanks for posting it. Dammit, these guys need to get back together and tour. I don't care if they have to tour with Anthem, and Masaki Yamada's new project called Firesign in order to pull it off. I'm in LA, but I'll fly my ass to Tokyo, Japan to see that shit.
It was pure fuckin' Rock and Roll. Again, you have to hear this WHOLE album a FEW times. They were simply incredible. The singer is crazy talent wise and when I saw 'em the drummer was like THUNDER!!!
Head Banger's Ball back in the mid to late 1980's was pure heaven. I found so many awesome bands because of it, such as EZO. I never did get the original CD, but have Fire Fire on CD and also several Loudness CD's. Ah memories. Thanks for posting these videos!
I had this along with Dead End's 'Ghost of Romance'! Dead End seemed heavier on guitar. I loved EZO's first record more than Fire Fire. The bass was so powerful, and the songs were perfect. House of 1000 pleasures was a favorite.
For people that dont know: Masaki Yamada later landed on Loudness... and the live album "Once and for all- live" features a live version of house of 1000 pleasures. You should check it out on Soulseek. I have it
shoyo was very creative and innovative in a time of copy-cat guitarists - his use of the tremelo bar was second to none imo - vastly under-rated guitar player - very raw yet also very technical and still played with so much feeling
Thank you so fucking much for posting this. I wish they wore the makeup and costumes from the Flashback video but oh well, I have been waiting so long to see more EZO so thanks. One of the single most underrated bands of all time!
This is when rock bands had enough to offer to sell out an arena and had something more to sing about other than how much they hate everything and everybody! Remmember those days?
Been waiting for this - compared to "Flashback" this is the better song and more representative video. (Not to mention that well-constructed guitar solo from Shoyo!) Possibly the last decent spinoff of a spinoff of the original NWOBHM concept. Thank you!

So all in all I found out who sang the original song,
I got to check out EZO - Here It Comes Video and found a cool new Japanese Band called Plastic Tree.
crisscreations 4 years ago
The song by Plastic Tree is called "Danse Macabre" and they reminded me so much of EZO I then searched on youtube for EZO and came to this page.
If you look at the posting below mine you'll see it mentions a Band called Dead End's "Ghost Of Romance" album.
Dead End is the band I was looking for who sang the original song "Danse Macabre".
It is the first song...side one.... of the album mentioned in the posting below mine.
Is you hair standing up on your arms yet? Spooky
crisscreations 4 years ago
Wow this is so weird you won't believe it!
Please Read!
I was recently thinking of the song "danse macabre" but could not remember the band and thought they were just called danse macabre.
I googled danse macabre and was pleasantly surprised when I found a video by a band called Plastic Tree.
You gotta check them out but only after you read the rest. Next Post.
