  • WHOA! THIS GUY SAYS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAPACITOR HAS A DIFFERENT RATING , HE'S FULL OF SHT. CAPS HAVE TO BE +-10%. PUT IN THE WRONG SIZE BURN UP THE MOTOR. USE EXACT CAPACITOR!

  • thks teaacher

  • THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR VIDEO IT SAVED ME A BOAT LOAD OF MONEY....DID JUST WHAT YOU SAID AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHAMP...THANKS AGAIN..

  • This video saved me lots of money (not sure what a pool pump repair person would charge). Thank you sir for posting it. I looked at the cost of a new pump on-line and it was over $350, the capacitor I purchased was $10.81. Clerk at the store said the microfarad rating was plus or minus 10 microfarads. Also, bring the old capacitor and cover to compare and verify it will fit on the pump in the cover.

  • skip ahead to 3:00 to not waste 3 minutes of your life by deputy dog.lol j/k

  • Thanks for Video,i did exactly what you recommended, went to a motor shop got a new capacitor, installed it .works like a new. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for your video. Where did you purchase your new capacitor?

  • Thanks for your video. Where did you purchase your new capacitor?

  • haha i do the same thing i put a rag of some sort over the capacitor the old timers at work laugh at me...whatever iv seen these things fly in the air...great video...bad for business for me

  • Sounds like the rear end bell is going as the bearing is spinning in the race making the noise being heard.

  • Excelent video. You have helped me lots in idenifying my pump capacitor problem. Funny thing is my SPA 1500W pump has had this intermitant start up from day 1 just like you decribed and i assumed it was normal (ignorance is bliss), now after 5years it fails to start rotating and the pump over heats to thermal cut off point. i just hope the motor windings are ok.

    Thanks again.

  • The analog multimeter should be to measure resistance not volts as the video said. Resistance is the only mode that provide some voltage that is used to check the capacitor. Very slow and repetitive talk.

  • Thank you that was a good video, in my case the motor was making a grading noise

after I over fill the pool, next day I fine that the motor is hot and it just Stop working.

I try turning the power on and now what i hear is a humming noise. You think it could be something more serious. Thank God for people like you to do this for us.

  • many thanks. i already spent $200 on parts to fix my pump at the pool store. they wanted $180 to change the capacitor. thanks to you, i think i can fix it myself and save a fortune.

  • great video!!! helped me fix my pump...

  • Just save me a new pump! Grainger didn't have the right size, but at least I got the pump working until I can find the correct one. Many thanks!

  • Great video. Thanks so much for posting this. You saved me a couple of hundred dollars. I really liked the added pop-ups that informed me that the polarity was not an issue. I was wondering about that.

  • Thanks so much, you saved me a lot of money.

  • Great information--thanks!!

  • Thanks for such a thorough video!

  • Excellent,Thanks !

  • Excellant, I wish I knew this yesterday- before I replaced the entire pump. Thank you!

  • Many thanks for the info - I managed to fix my pump for $16 rather than paying $500 for a new pump. There was huge variation in capacitor prices so shop around.

  • This is an excellent video, I have to check the capacitors on a micro wave and a voltage regulator in a petrol generator.

This demonstration is very usefull . Thank you your time making the video,

  • thanks for posting this vid...where's the best place to get replacement capacitors?...

  • Thanks for sharing. It is very helpful.

My motor is somehow shorted. I wonder if you can advise me how to check if the windings are shorted or not.

  • I really appreciate your taking the time to make these posts. The information is great and your instruction is thorough. Keep up the good work and again, thank-you for thinking of others.
