  • wow.....Ralph Nader: lawyer, politician, activist, and apparently since this was made back in 2008- seer......

  • Love Ralph Nader!!

  • 3:52 "He doesn't like to take on power."

    Damn, was he ever right...

  • Nader is too smart for this country

  • spot-fucking-on as usual

  • When will the American people wake up and acknowledge the 3rd party and fuck the Democrats and Republicans?

  • Man I thank goodness I didn't vote at all in 2008.

  • Ralph hit the nail on the fuckin' head----he knew it all along

    Obama is a fraud

  • Ralph Nader fucked America when he refused to work with Gore. He said "I can't work with the lesser of two evils." So he cost Gore votes and we got 8 eight fuckin years of Bush, lies and war. He fucked us

  • @lunaboomboom,That's not true, because that election was rigged.

  • @lunaboomboom Stop repeating that fabrication please. Gore would not have done anything differently from Bush.

  • @6of6 For the the last time stop fucking replying with your lame "gore was no better" comments. fuck you. and then, fuck yourself again. a team of monkies wouldn't have fucked us up as bad as bush. nader was too prideful and self righteous. and you guys are so busy suckin nader dick you don't even see the main point. don't bother replying, i just delete 'em. and one more thing: go fuck yourself

  • @lunaboomboom You might simply be a foul mouthed troll, but i am compelled to reply. You obviously don't know & don't want to know the facts. That meager argument was refuted years ago but there will always be clueless individuals who hold on to straws. How many times every 4 years are we to be betrayed by the two sanctioned parties before we wake up? Snap out of it!! - okay, go ahead and "delete 'em"

  • @lunaboomboom lol yeah as if gore were better gore is shit

  • man he was right on

  • Right wing politics are killing the earth. And no, I'm not only talking about economy and profit, I am talking about what kind of person it turns a human into. Does it turn he/she into someone who does what she/he can for the planet? For the future of the coming generations? For anything else than there own private economy? No. It does not

What Americans refer to as "liberalism" is a joke. Obama is, on a n objective scale still a hardcore capitalist, not even close to a socialist. It's pathetic.

  • this guy with the black cap is a moron

  • 3 years after the election and everything Ralph said in this video is still true. Democrats are letting the Republicans destroy this country's labour movement without a fight.

  • The Democrats and Republicans are interchangeable.

  • @onthewall888 two factions of the same party as noam chomsky said

  • 18k views. Sad that so few of us even know how important a conversation like this is.

  • @metalreign81

Taking all the spill for yourself pass the spill over here

  • How ironic that Nader mentions Obama's flip flop on off-shore drilling on this video (taken in Nov 08)

    Spill, Baby Spill anyone?

  • Obama is a phoney balooney I'm sorry to say. His actions speak much louder than his pretty words-----here is a mere sampling of his tenure

Financial Reform---written by lobbyists for banks and financial institutions

HCR----written by insurance and drug lobbyists for said companies

Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, North Korea, Iran---I will say he inherited an ugly foreign policy picture, but even so---he is still carrying on Bush-era policies--

    Domestic Spying, Guantanamo, rendition---

  • How is he "radical" he says things rightfully based on the constitution. Nothing radical about that. The others are radical

  • Funny aint it, almost everything Nader has said has come to pass and most Americans call him a spoiler, Prophets are ignored in their own time

  • My very first reaction to Barack Obama as a new political phenomenon was : " This guy is being puffed up ! ". By whom ? The late great American sociologist C Wright Mills answered this question for me decades ago : by The Power Elite, also known by left-wing political activists as the ruling class. How much the CLASS concept explains in everyday America. Yes, Marx is still relevant here today . What a disappointment, " Obama Care ". Just extend Medicare !

  • so im quite new to the whole american political ring.

    just a quick question:

To Ralph Nader supporters, what do you guys think about Ron Paul?

  • @gibbsies

It should only be Nader and Paul running for president. I personally love both of them.

  • @gibbsies Ron Paul is the only hope left for America, he is the only sane one left in a house of chaos, no special interest, constitutional, fiscally intact, not a neo-conservative he claims the Republican party or GOP but he doesnt stand for what most of the other Republicans stand for, if you are "sane" you will vote Ron Paul in 2012....Ron Paul will be President inevitably, we dont need "change" we need our Constitution and Bill of Rights back!

  • @troyboycountry222 Meh, even if he does become president, things will never change. We need an entirely new system, without government, police or a monetary system. Politics are outdated

  • Nader is bang on the button. Anyone claiming any govt of the US has upheld the will and wishes of the people in the last 40 years or more is either lying or they are plain soft in the head. In fact its worse than not upholding what they were elected for. They turn the opposite way and betray the people, causing a swing to the other party. Ralph has witnessed this first hand. Hes long in the tooth , tired of the game and clearly a patriot. He like Ron Paul is marginalized. Non status quo.

  • paul ,can u invite these people back for a follow up?

    nader is my man.

  • Ralph Nader is not lying.... this is not new, listen to Malcolm X "Ballot Of The Bullet".

  • This panel needs to reconvene to assess what was discussed that day in 2008.

  • I'm a Canadian but I've always admired Nader, he says a lot of things I say and seems so much more logical and honest than any politician I've ever heard. Notice in most of his interviews people have a hard time contradicting his views.

I said long before Obama was elected that he wouldn't change much, just from the few samples of his 'speeches' I've heard on TV he's like every other politican: he talks a whole lot but says very little.

  • He's just a bunch of slogans and idealist prattle who's funded by banks and corporations who are the real government.

The fact that he's mixed race means nothing. He's just one side of the same Dem/Repub. coin. We have the same 'duopoly' crap here in Canada with the Liberal/Conservative parties, I don't know why people keep flipping back and forth over the years between the two.

  • @PMeursault Well said. Two-party systems inevitably lead to this; the illusion of choice where no real choice exists. A heaven for lobbyists and wealthy vested interests. 'Duopoly'? Try 'Monopoly'. The policies are the same, the backers are the same, the parties are the same. It's all a charade

  • he blinks with one eye.

  • I love you Nader! BUT. I think your strategy of targeting Congress is misguided. The target should be the Obama cabinet. Our only chance of preventing catastrophe is a quiet cabal within the cabinet to pull Obama to the left. Take on Emanuel. Take on Geitner and Paulson. Cut the corporate strings that are operating Obama's marionette policies.

  • a real human bieng why did no one vote for him seems to me like he is honest and works for the people

  • Ralph Nader and Ron Paul may be on oppiste sides of the spectrum, but either one would be threaten the establishment more than Obama or Republicans.

  • I voted for Nader! It may be one percent, but it's never the majority that changes society. Society always turns on genius until it's gone. I don't think he'll lose votes, I think he'll gain them. I am spreading his name.

  • Obama has done nothing for the Black Americans. They are not looking for entitlements. They are looking for a president that will pay attention OUR problems and needs to make our country what it purports to be. Obama is escalating Afghanistan. He is fulfilling the neocon Wolfiwitz doctrine of world domination.Obama is surrounded by "bushies". He continues to allow Wall Street to decimate our economy (we pay). Change? what a joke~

  • @ghahandi Black Americans need to

fix our own problems. Between Glorifying being

    ghetto,Drugs,Sex,violence,etc. and considering

being well spoken and educated A "sell out" and

an "Uncle tom". our problems are our own.

    Also Obama>>>>>Bush

  • @9N8X I agree~ It appears obvious to me that there is another power structure outside of the executive branch that decide who should be allowed to take the whitehouse. The the puppet strings are attached. Watch: 1) Confessions of an Economic Hitman 2) Hijacking Catastrophe Read Wes Tarpley's excellent "The Unauthorized Biography of GHW Bush" You can see it free at TARPLEY(dot) NET It is well researched & documented.

  • @ghahandi Ralph is a man of the TRUTH~ Support him as much as possible if he runs again. Support Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. You may not agree with everything they stand for, but the important issues they do agree on; The Constitution (and the fact that it being decimated), Pre-emptive war. Empire building. All NEOCON NWO lies~

  • Ralph is right on.ote for NADER in 2012...The rest you can put into a box, shake it up, and pick one..wouldn't matter. They are all of the same cloth.

  • Until now Ralph has been proven right.

  • Now that's where you're wrong. The media isn't pro-Democrat...AT ALL. And lets not even get started with crimes by the Republican party. The media is by definition an ELITE PRO-POWER entity. They give legitamacy to the neo-conservative loons and the pro-American power line. Its all a farce.

  • Ralph is not a politician - he has never been in office and that is inherent in being a politician. But, he is a consumer advocate and he has no problems with honesty and genuinity because he accepts no money from corporate interests in elections, unlike the Democratic and Republican parties who aren't free from influence and thus always dissapoint and never commit what they say they will do.

  • He served at least one term in congress, I believe.

  • i love this! it is great to watch this a year later. "Nothing will change" and it is true. More bailout, no healthcare for all, surge in Afganistan... ooops, he did get a Nobel prize. He will be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, exactly 2 weeks after he annonced 30000 more troops for war in Afg.

  • "Democrats have no excuses."

Tell me about it Ralph. Now the neo-liberals are making every excuse for the song and dance man.

Ralph is a true American. Unfortunately even he does not seen to realize this openly fascist country is owned by the bankers.

  • @biped19 i thank he does but he is not wiling to acept it and he still has hop in the american people

  • One of the most radical brilliant minds of the 20th century: Ralph Nader!

  • raaaaaaaaaaaalph!!!!!

  • Bigups to this Man,, Seen !! Blessed are those with the OVERSTANDING & COURAGE to EXPOSE this SHITSTEM.. He's feeding us the DOWNPRESSED,, Jah Bless !!

  • obama is a 21th century president.

Nader is a 22th century president.

America is not ready for nader because nader works like a surgeon and would cut out all corruption and other political diseases!

  • wow...i cant say i disagree with that. not at all.

  • Exactly, Nader is a surgeon and Obama is nothing but a slave, just like his downtrodden ancestors, who struggled for 200 years under an oppressive caucasian theocracy. And what was the outcome of all that suffering and cruelty, an uncle tom in the white house !!!! Pathetic, to be frank.

  • ummm... as a black guy, I can assure you that our "downtrodden ancestors" who struggled for 300 (not 200) years would be more than happy that he is in the white house

  • Bullshit !!!! A truely passionate and assertive black leader like Malcolm X or Phillip Randolph would have been disgusted after seeing what Obama has done so far !!!! Only ignorant asholes like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can be proud of this man !!!

  • Ralph Nader has some key points but he has to understand that the Democrats and the Republicans has always had the power but until something big comes to stir up congress it will stay the same.

  • Funny how Republicans didn't exist before the mid 1800s.

  • What the fuck is wrong with you ?? Instead of changing the current state of affairs, you'd ratherr swallow all the bullshit that is fed to you ??? Have you lost your mind ???

  • There is no way to change the current state of affairs. the political turmoil in this country is so deeply ingrained in our society that it has effectively become institutionalized, and nobody, especially not your precious Ralph Nader is going to change that anytime soon. He wields very little influence in this nation because he is delusional, like you

  • Whatever, you are obviously an Obama ass-kisser !!!!! You're not a difference maker, you're just another sheep who will swallow whatever is fed to you !!!! Congratulations on a life of never-ending nescience !!!

  • Liberals like Harry Reid say you smell bad.

Liberals like Obama say you are far right and racist and bitter if you simply CLING to the constitution.

Globalist Barack Obama says you have anti-immigrant sentiment if you are against illegal immigration due to it being a big fat globalist scam.

Murtha says you are racist rednecks, vote for me,and the stupid idiot people do it.

The American people are trained morons apparently.

  • im bored on cam

why cant i see the video nL

  • Nader's spot on. Obama's too wishy washy.

The corporations are going to use him as a door mat.

  • with all the appointments we've seen so far from Obama it seems that Nader wasnt far off in his predictions. its actually quite saddening that even with the understanding of obama's republican bent we still rallied behind him either in vote or ideology because he was the lesser of two evils. it was like having sex with a really hot chick over a gilf and having to deal with the consequences of her parents, children and husband after the fact... :(

  • what do you expect, the man has been in office for less than a year. Politics is a slow process, give him a chance before you discredit him.

  • Ever heard the phrase "Well we've been safe since 9/11."

What you're saying is the same. You're trying to defend something that's so full of corruption and so many facts going against it, that you use that kind of argument just like the Bush Followers. Let's see here, Paulson was with Goldman Sachs, Goldman Sachs biggest donator to Obama. hmmm. Obama not ending the war. And he knows he could of ended it in 2-3 months. He is giving money to his friends in the banking industry. SO ON. SO FORTH.

  • He Campaigns but don't Unite the Third Party Ballots which he could do!

The United Third Party won the 2008 Election registered by the FEC by one Write IN Candidate trying to Unite all 150 third parties.......

  • at least hes not a war monger

  • WTF is your point? are you aware of what ideology is? republicanism is an ideology. He's not alone in his views. some would say he sees through the bullshit. something that i have a feeling you dont.

  • could not agree more

  • nader is the real shit, a real progressive, not like therestoration of theclinton admionistration taking place under the "hope" obama presidency...kee hopin fools, you missed out on public citizen #1. Be well ralph!

  • masochistic

  • i had the great pleasure of working with ralph in DC. thank you for your service ralph.

  • He talks about things that none of the mainstream candidates will address. He runs to press the issues so that maybe in the long run they'll be forced to pick up on it and do something about it.

  • "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers"

    Ralph Nader

He runs to bring issues not covered by the 2 parties but are actually representative of the majority of peoples views, to national

discussion (even though they'e blacked out by the media- which becomes an issue in itself of the debaates needing to be open to anti war candidates that were aall excluded). He runs to encurage citizen activist at local, state & national level

  • You bought the line.

  • homeless people don't ask me for change ask obama he said he's going to give it to you will he? fuck no

  • Why?

  • Ralph being lebanese descendent is what will stop him from being president. Too many jews that make up the government wnt allow it.

  • Having Muslims in the family didn't stop Barack Obama. The reason Ralph won't be president is because he's actually qualified for the job, and the people who are in charge (who are NOT us, we just get to choose between their two top choices) want someone who will put the interests of the rich and corporations first.

  • @RagingUtai

and let's not forget he supports gun control and the united nations which will turn off conservative voters

  • This is probably the best Nader interview I have seen.

  • because he doesn't have to spend half the interview justifying his existence and explaining why he's not a "spoiler"?

  • I know he doesn't. Bill Fletcher appears intelligent here...

  • pretty good forum

  • I wish america would wake up and vote nader or mckinney, then u would see real change.

  • so true.

  • No, not Cynthia McKinney -- she's ecologically ignorant. The Green Party is hopelessly mired in the politics of group identity and liberal guilt. McKinney played them like a fiddle.

  • it's not going to happen until we find a way to include voters who want to vote for third parties but feel that their vote is better used strategically. Look at the link in my profile and in the about page of that blog you'll see my idea for what to do about this problem. In a nutshell, I want to organize both third party voters and lesser-of-two-evils voters together, count them, and show that they do have the numbers to win at least local elections (where a lot of change can happen)

  • the guys obviously just support obama because of his color

  • Well I respect Nadar, and thats why what he says worries me so much about Obama. But even then id rather risk Obama being a warmonger then knowing we've elected a warmonger like Mccain.

  • But at the end of the day, can we honestly say anything has improved if President Obama turns out to be that warmonger? He has already talked about downsizing our commitment in Iraq(though not phasing out an American troop presence all together) and shifting those freed-up forces to Afghanistan/Pakistan. This, basically, insures that we will be engaged in the Middle East militarily for some time to come, and have to reap the ever-mounting cost of war and loss of human life.

  • God bless Mr. Nader. The true patriot

  • 2:46 - "You mentioned show business, so I could turn it to FOX News, I suppose."

  • Ok at last some real news from this channel

  • I voted for you Nader! You are absolutely right!!!

  • "The Nader Kool-Aid here in the comments section is hysterical. Talk about hero worship."

Yup. That's right! Ralph Nader IS A HERO, you douchebag! What has he advocated that is so bad? He has always stood for and championed fairness, social justice, a living wage, safe products, safe drugs, a clean and safe environment, no corporate welfare, an election system that is fair and open and represents the people not the elite and corporations. So again, what has he advocated that is so bad? Hmm?

  • At least Nader is worthy of it.

  • I voted for you again, Mr. Nader. I'm so sorry you again were shut out. It's too bad the American Sheeple say they want change, but continue to vote for the same old hand-picked puppets of the two-party dictatorship that is the American system of sham elections that is in place.

  • I voted for him too. I totally agree with you. Now it is time for the people to organize and give Obama a mandate.

Like Nader said "the people need to get the FIRE in their bellies".

  • I think that even better than trying to build up a third party during the worst of times, under Bush, will be building third party power now, because the people feel the power that they have now, and that attitude may build a stronger movement than the desperation to get rid of Bush under any conditions we had before. We're negotiating from a stronger position now.

  • Nader makes some good points.

  • The US people have lived under a TRUE dictatorship since 911.

Some of the VERY best proof that your own regime PLANNED 911 was that the bogus "Patriot Act" was written YEARS before the WTC was "attacked".

The "Patriot Act" ABSOLUTELY destroyed the US Constitution & Bill of Rights.

You can now be LEGALLY "disappeared" as a US citizen with "0" rights. If the US Reich deems you THEIR enemy, you can be kidnapped, flown to another country & tortured or KILLED.

    Welcome to the NEW U.S.A.!!

  • I agree wholeheartedly with everything Nader says here, and I'm looking forward to the excuses the Democrats will invent for reneging on all their fraudulent campaign promises.

One kvetch: Of the 10 or so goals he set, he fails to mention the extension of equal rights to gays in this country. The gay rights movement has been the great grassroots movement of our generation, and we were handed an ignominious defeat on election day. It would be appropriate for the RealNews to cover that.

  • Obama should put Nader in his cabinet.

  • I'm Teemu and I approve this message

  • i doubt nader would be able to accept as he is anti-corporation ...anti - war ...

and anti- israel...& not a member of the CFR...

nader wanted mc kinney as vice prez' last time he was runnin' ...

  • Nader is definetly not anti Israel. Acknowledging the country PALESTINE unlike the other 2 parties that only taled about Hamas, and acknowledging illegal occupation by the Israeli military in Palestine just as he acknowledges illegal ocupation of US in Iraq doesn't make him anti Israel or anti American.

He supports a 2 state solution & just doesn't want US taking sides through anual military aid to Israel to pander to AIPAC. He's the nly candidate that mentioned Jewish Voice for Peace.

  • One of Obama's early positions was that the election system needs an overhaul. I think that's Nader's most compelling populist position and one where he and Obama probably have common ground.

Nader points out that the major structural problem stems from a late 19th century Supreme Court decision that gave corporations 1st amendment rights (like free speech). It'd be a brawl trying to pass legislation that addresses this, but Nader would be a great advocate, especially with Obama at his back.

  • He wont because nadar will cost him a second term.

  • its not envy its anger.....obama is talking empty rhetoric and foolish idealistic americans have swallowed.....Where is the change??? his first appointment is Rham Emanuel!!!! Fucking change!!???? Its bull, and all americans are slaves to the military industrial complex and dont even know it...

  • "Where is the change? His first appointment is Rham Emanuel! Fucking change!? Its bull"

Yup! You said it, brother. I couldn't agree with you more about Rhamy Boy. I hear that Obie even has that other douchebag Robert Rubin (another big fucking DEREGULATOR!) from the Clinton Admin., advising him on economic matters. Great! More of the fucking same! Obie seems to me, that he is going to be one big phony and hypocrite. I really wanted Ralph Nader to have won or at least showed a big percentage.

  • JixMa - Biden is Cheny #2, he is chairman of CFR, this is strickly Public Relation program,

Biz as usual with a soft touch.

  • Wait until January 20th when Obama actually gets into the white house. When he can actually implement polices, you're trying to be a wise ass ,but it seems like you're a typical misinformed bitter McCain supporter.

George Bush is still President alright.

  • ..."you're try 2 be a wise ass, ... seems like you're a typical misinformed bitter McCain supporter."

Deepstarr7020, um, are you saying your comments to me or someone else? You didn't specify who you're calling a "wise ass" and "bitter McCain supporter".

If directed to me, as John McLaughlin was often fond to shout, "WRONG!!!" I'm a Nader man and have been for years. I've voted for Mr. Nader in every election he was in. I hate the 2-party dictatorship that Ralph himself his cited exists.

  • He is angry and has every right to be.

  • 11.4.08 Congratulations to Barak Obama (Our 44th President elect).

Now let's make sure Corporations don't tug at him to pass legislation completely in their interest over public interest.

We elected Obama to serve 'We The People' Not 'They the Corporations' and their special interest lbbyists. Let's make sure he keeps his promise.

We don't have any illusions about WHY all these corporations lines up behind Obama..there are at least two more big bailouts comming - prepare to pay MORE!!!

  • You want "Change", here's 2 cents.....

    "Should have supported Ron Paul"

  • AMEN!!!!

  • Ron Paul is a very intelligent man but conservatives don't vote on intelligence anymore.

  • There is no way big business would allow that to happen.

  • Ron paul would have been much better than Obama - he was not on the ballot, and I'm not a conservative. OIf you supported Ron Paul or Baldwin - I aplaude you. My people are on the liberal left, NADER, McKinney, Moore, Kucinich..etc..

Bedides I only have 1Vote and if I have to do it again, I would vote NADER/Gonzalez without any regret.

  • "We The People" did not give Obama 650 million dollars. Follow the money and it is clear that we are all screwed.

  • How is it that The Real News only dares to give Ralph Nader significant air time AFTER the campaign is over? I am frankly disappointed in you! You are supposed to be different from big media, that's the standard you have set yourselves, but you failed on this test.

  • the difference is that msm wouldnt give nader any time before or after the election....

  • Ralph is a big-government socialist so not quite my cup of tea but, because he respects the Constitution and the rule of law, I'd vote for him over Leon Obama or Benito McCain any day of the week.

  • obama won, pfft, i bet on a million dollars that in these coming months and years, that these people who voted obama, they will bash obama just like they bashed bush.

  • I voted for Nader........Now lets see what the CFR appointed,Obama doez.

  • Nader does make a lot of good points here and it is imperative that Obama is taken to task right from the beginning of his presidency to really move, and I mean REALLY MOVE, to change the status quo. If he doesn't than the cynicism that we see now from many people about politics and politicians will just explode.

  • He will not be doing anything the first 4 years. He wants to get re-elected.

  • sounds like a bandaid nader but its better than nothing.we all know the realaty is much worse on all those issues stated on the vid. all third parties who can field a candadate on all 50 states should be garanteed equal footing in debates broadcast through any f.c.c station.if not is it a democracy.

  • What do you mean janamills?!?Mabey your just not used to politicians being honest and trying to inform the public about real issues.

  • There is nothing wrong with Ralph. People just need to step out of the cave.

Look up "the allegory of the cave".

  • I know the allegory of the cave, but as far as I am aware it didn't involve replacing one dellusion with another. You can't just blame the corporate media for the fact that Nader doesn't get elected. I'm not saying I disagree with him on much but... there is always a but... it is his stratergy which is just plain in-effective.

  • There is no delusion here. no one solely blames the media for Nader not getting elected. but it IS one factor. I volunteered for the Nader campaign this year and you would be surprised how many people still did not know he was running, the day before the election. The amount of mainstream media exposure he got was definitely a factor in that.

  • Nader 2012, you had my vote o8.

    Peace

  • Nader or any 3rd party will never win the GE unless they work from grass root level or we somehow can get public campaign financing through.

  • A real American hero!

  • As of now Rahm Emannal will be White House cheif of Staff.

  • I really would have liked to see Nader win..

  • "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers"

    Ralph Nader

Nader was a refreshing candidate who spoke truth to power and somehow made me feel more poweful in supporting him in his defeat than if I would've caved in to the Democrats who want to continue war on terror & pay or die healthcare system.

It's time for the next generation of Nader Raiders to hold government accountable to work for change like Nader's career.

  • "Nader made me feel more powerful in supporting him in his defeat than if I would've caved in to the Democrats"

HEAR, HEAR, 0613162k! That's just how I feel about it. I'd rather vote for Mr. Nader that represents MY views and philosophy and lose, than just blindly follow the rest of the sheep and throw my ballot into the box for THEIR hand-picked puppet that the 2-party dictatorship TOLD ME to vote for. My conscience is clean and clear in voting for the man that stands for the right things.

  • ok. well said

  • Because he doesn't sell himself to the corporations.

  • Ralph Nader is a man for our time. Why is he relegated to the fringes?

  • because unlike obama and most major party candidates, he is a real threat to the status quo.

  • Because the 'system' is structured to severely handicap any third pa
