A De lorean that has been restored is about 37,000.And you when u pas ur test. you wont be able pay for insurance

Have you tried classic car insurance? There are companies who specialize in the insurance of rare cars such as the DeLorean and it's not that expensive. True, it's not for one who just passed their driver's test or who just got their license.

@TitanicMasta Actually Delorean's are very expensive. 25- 35 grand for refurbished, and 41,000ish for new. (yes they still make them)

@dawayne222 Thats a big misconception. They are restored cars using a original set of vins and titles. The frame as well as about 15% of the parts are new, the rest are New Old Stock and some parts that are no longer avaliable such as left fenders, etc. are sourced from junk cars and refurbished. They call them "new" but they are just restored cars. Oh and they start at $57K and go up from there.

Deloreans are actually reliable as long as you drive them and maintain them properly. You just have to be careful with the stainless body panels.

Stainless panels can't be repaired like regular car panels. You can't bondo them or pound out big dents with a hammer. Small dents you can get out at the new DMC facility in TX. Most people who own Deloreans just want them as weekend toys

1. You can't let them sit. The fuel system in them is tempremental to put it mildly. Mechanical fuel injection.

2. Electrical issues, been known to have issues with relays

3. For those who have automatic DeLoreans, the computer governor can fail.

With all this said, properly cared for, they are very reliable if maintained properly as stated. There are fixes for all of the above issues as well.

Yes they are back but not fully brandnew there stripped down to the frame and built with 50% new and old parts the engines are a real problem even if they are old and new you cant drive these stainless babys day to day regardless of what the dmc say the engine is rubbish!

Actually it is an 81 model. Same exact kind used in BTTF. I need to post another video soon. I have repainted the front and back facias. Removed that thick black racing stripe. Shampooed all the carpets. If there is anyone out there who has original switches for headlights and flashers..let me know. I need to buy them.

They are being built again in various Delorean dealers around the country. They used new/unused parts. They start at $25,000 and go up to $60,000
