I've gone through the sand desert and the stone desert with my Birdy.
My camera was stolen, so no video from that trip.
But believe me, the Birdy is a fully, and its thick tires as well as its superb suspension can take a lot of rock. And the frame is more stable because the mid-section is not divided.
It all boils down to what you want to do. Offroad and resiliance? Birdy. Small weight and package? Brompton. No money? Dahon.
@trakkaton cool! i have a flamingo. quite heavy though. wanted a bike i can use for both commuting (needs to fold up compactly for mix-transport use) and off-road adventures... but looks like i'd need two separate ones.
Depends on how compact it has to be for commuting. You can fit a folded Birdy in its Backpack and no one knows that you've got a bike with you.
On the other hand if you want to do serious downhill MTBing, you will need a Freerider. If it's just potholes, rocky trails and offroad the Birdy will deliver.
ok that was awkward..... o.O
anyways..
i agree with @kulaspyro... get a brompton instead...

@kulaspyro
You really can't go downhill on a rocky trail with a Brompton.
With a Birdy, you can.
