This is quite an innovative solution really, and of course now this means you can if you want to use your iPod should you not want to listen to the radio at all. Is the Robi compatible with DAB+ to the best of your knowledge? I'm not aware of any DAB+ radio adaptors for iPods available here in Australia.
@isashach I understand. It works well for me because all I had to do was buy the Dockstubz. If you had to go and buy an iPod, it wouldn't make much sense. Ideally someone would make a mini DAB radio inside a 12V lighter socket adaptor with a 3.5mm jack on the top, then there would be no need for all that stuff inside the glove box
I HAD PURE HIGHWAY AND I MUST SAY IT WAS PERFORMING GOOD HOVEWER I GOT PUT OFF BY THE AMOUNT OF WIRES ITS JUST TOO MANY WHEN YOU ALLREADY HAVE YOUR SAT NAV AND PHONE MOUNTED ON YOUR DASHBOARD.
ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN JUST BUY A CHEAP £ 20 HOUSE DAB RADIO AND USE A 12V TO 240V CAR POWER CONVERTER THAT YOU CAN BUY IN ANY CAR SPARES SHOP AND IT WORKS FINE TOO I TRIED IT.
@swolocz You can, but the problem is that most cars have an integrated design so the radio forms part of the dashboard. Some of the buttons around the radio also perform other functions. Who would buy a new car, remove a double DIN type radio, lose other functions and stick a cheap nasty looking radio in!
I have an adapter hidden in the boot that connects to the aerial and power. Not quite like the ipod one, but does the same job. It's a shame a lot of DAB is MONO and low bitrates!!!!
@swolocz Show me one that will fit a ford focus or a mondeo that will look the same as standard. Then tell me how the existing aerials bandpass filters and preamps would be altered to allow 170-230MHz when they currently only pass MW and VHF (88-108). It's not as easy as just going to Halfords if you want a professional looking and sounding job! There are a few ways to do it, but you need to think about it and forget making huge alterations to the car or it will ruin it.
Your wife and I agree sooo much about the radio station to listen to.

I like most of your clever solutions, however I do think that there is definitely a better solution than this...

@Techmoan Can't you find a DAB radio that works on 12V from DealExtreme or eBay? I'm sure it's not that hard...
The problem with your solution is that it is very adapted to you, not everybody in general...

@Antje14 DAB radio is a UK digital radio standard. I think you have something similar in the US that's called HD Radio.
