a lot of characters didnt tho. jorge garcia (hugo) originally auditioned for the part of sawyer, and there were many others like this

@PeachesOhoulihan No, Jorge didn't audition for sawyer. The writers wanted Jorge on the show and hadn't written a part for him so they had his read sawyer lines for his "audition". Then they created Hurley for him.

I think the best thing is that the actors all did such an astounding job that you CAN'T imagine anyone else doing their characters... Terry was THE Locke, Michael THE Ben...
