  • I love how you made this sound all major and pleasant and happy, ahh hilarious Tool times :P

  • ba. the verses sound like some wild west saloon music lol!

  • my god this sounds so sweet o_o

  • You should play this song for church.

Anyone else catch the irony? Eh?

  • beast

  • Please do Eulogy. Also, marry me.

  • lol

  • i want this played at my funeral

  • nice job man

this is one of my fav tool songs you make it sound happier :)

  • it does sound "happy" weird

  • this is the version of opiate you could get married to XD

  • I like the major feel...a cool rendition.

  • pretty

  • Check out my channel for a version of this song, but then performed by an orchestra!

Tool - Opiate, as a classical piece :p

  • wow, you're awesome!

  • d major?

  • Very beautiful, Amazing

  • Great interprtation!

  • I enjoy all of your Tool covers thumphrey05! This one is my favourite. You're very impressive!

  • sounds to happy. you need to be in drop D tuning... lol

  • He's playing it in D.

  • not the right octave of a d.

  • The octave that the piece is in doesn't have any effect on how happy it sounds. As a matter of fact, he seems to be playing the vocal, guitar, and bass parts all in the same octave as the recording on Opiate.

  • yeah dhchemistry didnt you know detuning a piano makes the song more sad? While he's at it he needs to hit the gain on his preamp more, that way he really saturates the power amp section, he should look into new pickups, maybe some EMG's. That'd fix it for sure!

  • WOW it does sound like a happy tune.

  • this is my favorite tool piece on piano...sounds so surreal and almost happy....like something you'd hear from your high school music teacher...which makes it even better because its a tool song lol! you rock thumphrey...btw..long time man how you been

  • great,bravo man

  • great very impressed

  • Glad to hear an actual tool fan doing these songs as oposed to a professional who's just doing the song just becuase. Sorry man, but you blow Adam Monroe's versions of Tool away, hands down.

  • Adams a Tool. A good one at that though

  • again and again i am amazed by your piano work. the fact that you don't use sheet music at all makes it even more astounding. Great job, and I look forward to more

  • oh my god.

  • holy shitttttt <3

  • i love you

  • i love you too

  • lol, this I like in a man.

    beautiful work too.

  • i love you as well, along with everyone else from croatia

  • very entertain(er)ing

  • to soft WAY to soft

  • OMFG ITS AMAZING :')

  • omg this sounds so funny on piano :D but its just great!

  • its funny how a song that is quite directly mocking christianity can sound so much like a gospel song on piano.

  • you know, now that i think about it, i bet opiate was purposely made to sound like a gospel song on purpose.

  • haha i realized this as well just before i read this

  • Good call haha.

  • Dude come join my band.

  • Dude come join my band.

  • PRAISE THE LORD!

  • these videos are karaoke gold

  • glad you guys are getting along. it sounds so different because maynard sings the 3rd as kind of a mix between a minor and major, which makes it hard to recreate, which is why it ends up sounding like church music or somehting

  • I agree totaly!(being as I am a musician and that I love Opiate, it is an awesome album)

  • yea the way Tool plays it and the way it sounds on a piano is extremely different.

  • No shit? You figured that one out on your own, or did your parents help you? -_-

  • wow you're a dickhole. go die.

  • awesome, you should totally do something like "Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll" by Blue Oyster Cult or something else epic like that next.

  • Love it Love it Love it! Thank you for this treat, and for all the Tool tunes you do. Simply awesome.

  • hahaha

man, thats hillarious. really good job man. it sounds almost "too" melodic lol. it rocks

  • It's simply astounding how you're able to turn such edgey, harsh songs into such beautiful, intricate ones. I adore your work.

  • thanks

  • "Tryed to marry me and everyone in the room..." Haha. I'm in love with your piano work. Please keep it up!

  • engine

  • i had a friend once, he took some acid, now he thinks he's a fire

  • one word JAMBI

  • not a good piano song :(

  • what about using lower strings and harder playing

  • aww c'mon pull hammers would be natural to make come across on piano, as would all the pull off's on bass in the intro, and the talkbox solo would be super easy yah man I'd agree having never played piano

  • This is splendid.

  • I'm hooked on this shit.

  • This would sound like grade A music to people who never even heard of Tool. You should cut a demo CD and try to get a contract!

  • q genial

    re buena cancion

    exelente chiquillo

    suerte =D

  • Parents did a great job with you son.

  • Sounds like its in major...Not very suiting.

  • the vocals are in a major

  • boy, you play a fine piano

  • this is good and all but it kind of ruins the song for me. but what ever makes you happy man. as long as you're making music

  • This is even better than Ark Sano's Tool piano tribute CD, and that is a commercially sold CD. Try to contact a good label, I'm sure they'll be willing to distrubute this. My father and godfather are classical pianists, and thus I've heard many pianists and I can tell you're a good one. Keep up the good work!

  • fantastic, opiate is my favourite. your tool/zeppelin covers are now under the tree (my sister has not yet discovered you). thanks for all the great music, merry christmas

  • lol kinda sounds like church music on piano but nonetheless amazing

  • this is amazing!!

where did you get the music? i well want to play it!

    fucking ACE!

  • he wrote it himself dill hole

  • trasncribed* it himself

  • That gave me chills man!

  • whats GLE?

  • gaping lotus experience

  • It's that sorta hidden track after the song Opiate.

  • its the very end part of opiate with the "i had a friend once, who took some acid" you know with the sitar

  • maynard would b proud!!

  • I cant believe how this sounds on piano, its like the brightest happiest sounding song ever, unbelievable

  • Beautiful. You never realize how lovely tool music is untill you hear it on piano. You're the greatest, my friend. Jesus. I can't believe you added The Gaping Lotus Expierience on at the end, that was spectacular.

  • Playin' the piano is what you were born to do.

  • I can't get over how well you play tool songs! You're an inspiration:)

  • realy nice.

    8^)

  • what the fuck..

you're insanely amazing. Like everyone else before me has said, YOU NEED TO MAKE A CD.

  • really enjoyed your piano!...check me out sometime when you have time:)

    jim

  • good job man

do you think you could try Eulogy?

    Brian

  • Awesome man, as always. :)

  • You did a phenomenal job. On a piano, it sounds a bit like a classical piece (with a modern vibe, of course). Nicely done. Take care.

    -Andrew

    -Andrew
