  • Were doing this In music theater :)

  • This is nuts, but The Jabberwocky starting at 2:22 really strikes me and will always be connected to it in my mind. And I'm for watching Meryl Streep in anything.

  • I love Tim Burton and johnny Depp, but I must admit, I was disapointed with their version of "Alice", but this is awesome. The songs are so catchy, and I think this captures the spirit of Alice more than the Burton movie.

  • I love Alice at the Palace & all of the music! I absolutely adore Meryl Streep, especially for this role. Maybe it's silly, but I'd LOVE to do musical and be Alice.

  • Now that I think about it, the first part of the song, reminds me of Super Mario...so much. Sure enough there has been a parody or two about Mario falling down a rabbit hole. I mean, think about it!

...starting smaller...*eats a mushroom* GROWING BIGGER!! :DD

  • Genius!

  • Either she is TRIPPIN BALLS ON SHROOMS,

Or is a really good actress.

    [possibly both? :D]

  • I am proud to say that I can recite the complete Jaberwocky poem on command completely from memory ^~^

  • This woman is a chameleon, the greatest actress to ever walk the earth!

Her talent seems to be limitless!

  • This is the strangest, weirdest adaptation of Alice yet.. hahaha! But i definitely love it!!! MERYL is the greatest!!!!!!!! SHE IS! ♥

  • 2:44 holy girlie voice

  • @FahQposeurfag I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?!?! XD

The guy before him is almost just as bad lol

  • She's way too talented! She never cease to amaze me. I`m her fan forever :D

  • She sounds much like Kate Bush in this. Oh Meryl, Meryl, you never stop amazing me. Such endless talent no matter what doing.

  • i want a voice just like meryl's!!

  • This my favorite version of "Jabberwocky" set to music. It has the feeling of a Medieval ballad. It feels very intense and mysterious. The harmony and pronunciation are perfect, and the Maori-style fight is a unique touch. It is very upbeat and catchy! A good transition to the Looking-Glass portion of Alice at the Palace.

  • Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Beware the Jujub bird, and shun

    The frumious Bandersnatch!'

    It's so catchy! :3

  • This music is excellent. I wish these songs -or more realistically, something similar- could be in Tim Burton's new Alice movie. They'd be a good fit!

  • if you think that then you obviously know nothing about true theatre.

  • ok, this is one of the greatest pieces of theatre EVER. I've seen two versions, both are bloody brilliant. I've actually seen my school's production twice. This is an amazing adaption of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

  • she's such an inspiring actress to look up to as a drama student!

  • SHE should have been Evita! Not Mankdounga!

  • I see your point in a way... I love Meryl and met her in 2005 in London, lovely woman, I'm a huge fan... but, don't get me wrong, to me Madonna owned Evita, she was absolutely magnificent in it, even Meryl handed it to her.

  • No she didnt. Actuallty when Stone and Ken Russell bowed out so did Streep and Minelli respectively.

Streep ,who said , after Madonna's usually cattiness and nastiness towrds other females, " I could rip Madonna's throat out" should have had the role as the film has had no long lasting appeal. Not exactly a hand over.

  • i love meryl streep x yeh shes amazing, shes got an amazingg voice too! <3

  • meryl has so beautiful voice!

omg,it's so beautiful to hear her voice!

  • wow alice is very sinister

  • I luv meryl!!! totally agree! I don't think anyone else can play a 7 year old like she does! But the only thig u really need to say as to how she is able to do it so successfully is " SHE'S MERYL STREEP!!!" LOL

  • <<3

  • I love your username

Meryl is the only woman who can play a 7 year old girl, and you actually belive that she IS 7. LOL!

  • i love her so much i just could squeeze her, she is so beautiful and good, i shall never get tired of her!

  • you really are obsessed. xD Just kidding. <3

  • ya fresh obsessed

  • that was just SO awesome.

    its very very well done.

  • yes,meryl..<333 we love youuuu!!

  • Sry you have to start the Text down... With "Twas brillig..." and the up again with the words "and as in uffish..."

  • And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! He chortled in his joy.
  • Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch! He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
  • She is the greatest Actress and Woman EVER... I have Alice at the Palace on DVD and it is just AWESOME... I really Like the Jabberwocky song :) And also the Mad tea Party...

  • oh my god this voice..she is awesome

  • The talent of this woman. Beats every other actress hands down a million times.

  • OMG I LOVE HER HAIRS xD

  • this is my all time favorite thing I have ever seen

  • this was hilarious i couldnt stop laughing

    meryl could do it all!!

  • could you send me the lyrics to this song please

  • I don't know if you have the lyrics now. If not i could send them to you...

  • im eating mushrooms and drinking drinks

  • Amazing! Pure Talent!:).

Is there anything that Meryl can't do?:)

  • IT's Lady Aberlin from Mister Rogers! at 2:52

  • It's Co'sin Larry Appleton from Perfect Strangers at 2:22!

  • And "Mr. Noodle's Brother Mr. Noodle" from Sesame Street/Elmo's World whispering in her ear!! Michael Jeter is one of my favorites. :-)

  • this movie gave me a whole new respect for meryl streep. she really does have amazing range and scope. the outfit, by the way, suits her perfectly for her character.

  • Wow, she's got to be in her 40s! I don't know what's worse, her hair or that suit.

  • she was roughly 30-31 when that was filmed.

& yeah the costume could be a bit much, but it's a good film nonetheless.

  • Funny enough her outfit here, the overalls esp., was recently repeated in several scenes Meryl had in her 2008 film Mama Mia! lol!

  • thats what i said to my friend when we watched it! :)

  • the freaking outfit represents the innocence of children. And she looks very young in this!

  • this was the hottest part of the whole play!!! i love when does the little fight thingy..shes hot..shes meryl streep what more cani say...

  • I used 2 luv this movie! I still do!

  • She hired publicists straight out of Yale and got the jump on her competition. The copy read: "I am the greatest actress of my generation." Do you agree?

  • close enough

  • meaning: this shiow was her "vehicle ' and she was bound for glory. you know how in show business, the show must go on? Deborah Rush was her understudy and also a personal friend of hers). We in the cast were interested to see hoiw the show would play minus Meryl, and plus Rush. We never found out. One night Meryl had to be somewhere or do something. Joe Papp closed the show for the night. I have never in my life seen an actor given such power.

  • such power? well, because she's Meryl Streep..aka God. :)

  • haha nice

  • Yeah, I agree with Inky37...She is Meryl Streep, why shouldn't she have that power? She's the greatest actress ever.

  • bridgesgodess<---------------- exacly :]

  • theater companies are little families while they are together. I "knew" her for the duration of the project.

  • It was called "Alice in Concert" when it originated, at the Public Theater in NYC - when it was televised, the title was changed to "Alice at the Palace". I should know. I played an oyster in it.

  • even though this movie is pretty trippy eating mushrooms is stuck in my head

  • question..why is this sometimes called Alice at the Palace and sometimes Alice in Concert? this is an amazing show, thanks so much for uploading these.

  • It was called Alice in Concert when it first opened. They changed the name when it played the Palace Theatre, just becaue it was a more catchy name. So it's only called Alice and the Palace when it plays at...well...the Palace!

  • not.

  • these are pure joy!

  • I love you for putting all those Alice at the Palace clips up! I own the DVD, but it's great that people on YouTube will find their way to it.

  • fcking amazing.

  • awsome!
