  • I love this song, remember when I first heard it back in 1979, I was only 8.

  • I met John in San Diego at a small venue called, "The Place Across The Street From The Sports Arena" in 1979. I'd given him grief for not doing "Tom Dooley" (me and my friend were bombed, front row, center) During his first break, John and his agent politely told me why... all was cool. Half way thru his next set John says, "For my drunk little friend here in the front row" and he began singing Tom Dooley. Oddly enough we became and remained friends from that night on. Miss you JS.

  • For all the people who liked John Stewart , I got a nice story about John:

Around that time when this song came out my girlfriend (at the time around 12 years old) was traveling with here parents between Frankfurt Germany and New York. Her Dad was sitting in First Class and she and her mom in Eco class ( her parents where both in the airline biz Dad Lufthansa /Mom Pan Am ) so they had standby tickets and so one of them could sit in First class.

  • Her Dad came back to Eco class and said : Would you like to sit in the first there is a guy sitting next to me who is a musician. Turned out was John Stewart, but she did not knew one of his songs that he was singing to her. He promised that when he gets back home to send her an LP with a dedication.

  • And so he did , she received and LP in the mail from John Stewart thanking her for the nice talk and entertainment during the flight. What a nice and normal guy he was ! Now today this LP with the dedication is considered "REAL GOLD"

  • Growling guitars and Stevie Nicks...nice! I used to own this on LP! If you don't know what that means, I guess you'll have to google it....

  • I loved this Album. Brings back so many memories. Could you possibly upload "Lost her in the Sun??? That was my favorite song on the Album. Thanks for posting!!!

  • This is my favorite song of all time and John Stewart is my favorite singer of all time

  • I'll be performing this on new years eve, with a friend of mine who adores Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac,. Love this song, love the line "People turning music into gold" love it. Too bad that line doesn't reflect the state of today's music.

  • this song always bring be back in time this song will never die i just love the hell out of this song

  • Timeless...

  • Best. Song. Ever.

  • I was driving w/my six & a half year old daughter the other day & this came on Sirius Radio Channel #7...I started singing it & I thought she didn't like it so I turned it to a different channel & she said "Daddy!!!...turn it back...I want to hear that song!!!"

Now she sings it to me even though she doesn't know all the lyrics.

GREAT SONG that haunts your mind!!! Thanx for the great post!

  • @igluver15

What a sweet story. I knew this as a lil child, too & found it 20 years later & have listened a hundred times easily. I love that your precious one asked you to turn it back! What a gift you have in her, I can just imagine her singing it right now as it plays. People who have kids hopefully understand how blessed they are, as I would love to raise a kid, but Gays aren't allowed to adopt in my state. What a shame, as a kid in a state orphanage would like me like my nieces do.

  • @JusticeForTheDead Leave your ignorant state brother. That shits gay. Hahaha jk gotta have a sense of humor. Great song peace and love.

  • Everytime I hear this song, I picture a scene in black and white with an old 57 chevy, Roy Orbison driving, John Stewart, Bruce Springstein in theback, Johnny Cash riding shotgun, holding a rifle singing this song real loud, spiitn' dust down an old backroad...Leather, the smell of grease, shots guns, whisky.

  • @Kimmell2010

Very vivid picture. You just described it perfectly. Amazing. :-)

  • Superior quality sound.
