@jay0088 Actually it's an English Horn - a lot like an oboe but a bit bigger (though not as big as a bassoon. It's not a very common instrument. A muted trumpet would sound a bit more "tinny."

@Bonstrum I don't think it would work. A lot of the Doctor's appeal, not to mention the show itself, has a very strong, yet subtle British quirk and charm. If Torchwood: Miracle Day is anything to go by, I could really picture it being butchered by network meddling, forcing overlong story arcs to ensure series renewal and multiple sideplots and way too many main characters. Instead, The U.S. would be better using the concept and format to make their own original show.
