Alternatively you could get a switch, and either run a power wire straight from you battery, or splice into a "hot" /12v constant wire (a wire that always has current in it as long as the battery is plugged in) or a "hot on run" / 12v switched wire (that only has current when the ignition switch is in the ON/ACC position.
Either way you still need to find a positive wire, run it through a switch, onto your LED lighting source, and ground that. That way you have precise control over your lights.
I took off the panel under the steering wheel and found the wire that leads to my headlight on switch (I found the positive wire using a test light on the connector).
This i stripped off a part of the wire insulation and soldered on the positive wire going to the LED pads.
This way when the headlights are on, the LEDs are on, this has never bothered me at night or caused any problems for me whatsoever.
@TGbaseball26 Yeah I don't get how ppl do this...I just got a new car and I want to put some led lights under the dashboard but I don't know where and how to hook the wires..it's freaking annoying..and all these "installation" videos are more like "let me show you my led light" videos....
@Luigy2111 i put mine in a few days after i watched this video. I gave up trying to connect them to my headlights so I just connected the positive, or "hot" wire to the positive node in my fuse box in the engine bay and connected the ground wire to a random screw and fed the wires through the inside of my door. Watch the video "How to Install Interior Glow" by xHodinka. That's a lot like how I did it. I just took the easy route and used the remote to turn them on and off
@Luigy2111 im actually going to connect my lights to an LED toggle switch to turn them on and off so I don't have to use the remote. Once I do it i'll upload some videos explaining how I did everything

Can u use the cigarette lighter as the power source then have a switch to turn them on? That's what I would like to have

Any ways that's how i did it, But you can just as well hook it up to a fuse, but make sure you use the proper connectors for all that.

@TGbaseball26, pull out the fuse and inset the bare wire , then reinsert the fuse

i dont think thats the best idea cause when your driving at night its gonna get annoying not being able to shut them off

How exactly did you plug into you headlight switch? Did you just stick the wire into the fuse cavity? Did you use an add-a-circuit (fuse tap)?
