Generally Marines are not trained in knife fighting, the philosophy being that if the enemy gets within close-combat range then you're not shooting well enough. They leave the knife-work to the SEALS.

you do know that ronon had had no martial arts experience before he got the job to be ronon on Stargate Atlantis so that just goes to show what a few weeks of training can do and please the marines have nothing on anyone they have egos the size of the united states of america but fighting skills the size of George bushes brain that means very very little for those marines out there reading this

@armycadet1234 Your argument would've probably been conciderably more persuasive if you had actually paid attention during those writing classes in school. Periods and commas do exist for a reason, as do capitalizations. As for the Marines fighting ability, you obviously never met a Marine.

Ronan is good in all but, Marines are the most wild and bad ass guys in the army. Shit there are probably people like Ronan in the Marines. But in SGA they kinda suck...

Which to me was one of the many things they should have improved on. Main characters are the primary interest but in shows, the side smaller actors are usually as important. Its a shame the creators didn't see that.

Marines are in the Navy..not the army..and there main weapon is huge egos not there fighting skill

@WLordnDRanch12 The marines are their own branch, the smallest and most elite branch in the US, and the US has the best (or at least it did, don't know if it still does) military in the world. They are America's first and last defense, and often first choice in an invasion. The Navy gets the Marines to their destination, point them in the right direction, then get out of the way. As to the egos.... those are well deserved.

@MasterlyApprentice I don't believe it is anymore. The training has been dulled, forces over stretched, and funding cut to much. It used to be the best, for a time, but I don't think it is now. It certainly isn't the biggest military. And I don't really know who has the best training. Places like Israel have the most experience maybe, but who does have the best training? I just know, over all, the US Military USED to be the best. I'm afraid those times are gone... :(

they are their own corps that falls under the command of whatever force has jurisdiction in their theater of operation
