Rep. Velazquez is nothing more than a career politician. She's served my district long enough...there's a need for new leadership in our community...the kind of leadership that defends the constitution and a fiscal conservative. She voted AGAINST her constituents who BEGGED her to VOTE AGAIN THE FIRST BAILOUT. She's a waste of taxpayer money when her vote goes against taxpayers. SHE DOES NOT REPRESENT or work for the taxpayer.
Nydia's first language is Spanish so naturally she speaks with an accent but she has a masters degree and graduate cum laude and has taught college courses in poli sci.
Here is the scary part - number 1, this woman is an elected official in the US Congress and she can barely speak English (she represents Brooklyn, NY) and number 2, she doesn't have a CLUE what she is talking about. You could hear crickets when she stopped talking - LOL - people were like "huh"?
If you listen to the end of the clip, she attacks Citi for helping finance a huge pharmaceutical deal and how the same bank would extend a loan for some small Florida business (makes no sense).
they are 1: taking YOUR tax dollars and helping 2 huge drug companies merge, while 2: NOT letting smaller drug companies get extensions that WERE paying there loans!
how ever she said it like this: they are giving much LESS money with much TIGHTER restrictions.. maybe you got confused
i still think its funny the small banks that actually had to follow rules are fine right now. the big ones which SHOULD have been forced to follow the rules (due to size=risk) did not.
SHE'S JUST AS GUILTY HAVING VOTED FOR THE BAILOUT and NOT LISTENING to her constituents who pleaded for her to vote against it in the first place. I have more respect for Serrano who voted against the BAILOUT. She's just one more puppet for the international bankers...she serves no one but them and herself.
A fair criticism since she supposedly represents your district and you better than us outsiders ought to know best. Sounds like it is time for her to go by what you are saying.
I do live in her district...QUEENS NY. Yes, it's time for her and many others who have been around too long (ex. Charles Rangel) to go. We need fresh ideas, fresh minds that will represent us...and yet incorporate traditional basic constitutional principles...those principles that politicians and citizens have strayed away from for too long and that is why we are a broke nation and militarily (due to faulty Interventionist Foreign Policy) spread thin throughout the world
@robotsworld1: we need a healthy balance of government working with corporations, because that provides jobs and competition which are positive for the people. unfortunately, it seems that new york state govt (i live on long island) has gotten really good at spreading the fallacy that minorities are being helped by the govt. truth is, nobody is being helped, but we're all being screwed.
Government is first and foremost suppose to be working FOR "We the People" NOT with corporations...that is currently the problem because there is LOTS of room for corruption, as we can very well see. Gov't need to protect the rights/freedom for prosperity, that includes citizens who work in the corporate/private sector...including protecting others from fraud. AND YES! we're ALL being screwed...doesn't matter skins color or whatever.
@robotsworld1: right on, brother. nothing makes me happier than to see the people of NY state, and the world, seeing these politicians as the thieving thugs they really are. thank God for the internet (while we still have uncensored access to it). the people know how to get along just fine without government.
Right on! indeed. What is the ROLE of Gov't? Over the decades it has changed considerably. Today most people think Gov't was created to take care of ALL our basic needs. So far and away is this from the what the Founder's had intended. When the people wake up and realize what the original true ROLE of Gov't is suppose to be, then there'll be prosperity...until then, we are all nothing more than serfs to the International Bankers and their puppets...Politicians from the top to the bottom.

If you don't understand the SUBJECT being discussed (and seemingly you don't understand a thing), then you are the idiot not the woman.
No offense intended.
