He behaved just the same when the litter was brought out for me to choose one (except he barked, growled & was crawling over other pups, stepping on their flat little faces to try to scale the wall to get to me!). haha! ;) - I always tell people that it was HE who picked me to be his Mommy. I don't know about cats, but you really should never adopt a dog that is less then 8 weeks old.

By that time they have learned whats called "bite inhabition" which means they learn to not bite to get there way. Very essential for a dog to learn that from there mother.

tell them that boston terriers are the most entertaining animal you will see (i have one and a choc lab) boston terriers are also pretty loyal and they will cuddle up and sleep in your bed or on your couch with you.They are warm and loving. With proper training they are easily housebroken and if you do it right they shouldn't nip on purpose. when we trained ours when she did something wrong we pinched her neck firmly and said uh uh. It works like a charm.

8 weeks old. anytime before that and it doesnt have the opportunity to learn it's manners. Dog taken away before 8 weeks are shown to have social problems. On top of that, taking the puppy away from it's mother before 8 weeks puts it's immune system in jeopardy since it needs to receive antibodies from it's mothers milk. Some states, like CA, it is illegal to give away a puppy before it is 8 weeks old. I prefer to get my puppies at 12 weeks when possible.

Most Bostons aren't biters but they are chewers and that includes your hands.You need to give your pup a chew toy it is allowed to chew on while you play together like a rope with a ball attached.If the pup bites you you simply stop playing, say no, and walk away.Keep this up and your pup will learn that if they bite you you wont play, and they don't want that!It takes a little time so be patient and eventually your pup will learn whats ok to chew on and what isn't.

no no no no they arnt supposed to bite at all! but they can bite if they have been abused by maybe, a man, or if they bite woman they might have got abused by a woman. if you got your boston terrier from an unlicenced dog breeder you might want to take your dog to the vet it might have sores cuts or just long lasting bone bruses :(
