I tweeted Dana few times about this before he announced his idea, but the Flyweight tournament should of been done through The Ultimate Fighter, as it does two big things for the new division in the UFC, the fighters are exposed to casual UFC fans and this will gain them a fanbase, and it determines the true champion of the division. Yes there is a flaw or two in that idea, but you can't say that Dana's plan right now is better. We only know 4 flyweights competing in the UFC, who else is there?

@UltiEd also, you've gotta realize that most fighters CUT weight (probably AT LEAST around 10-15 pounds). frankie is probably one of the few exceptions though because he fights at his walking weight AND is the champion...which is pretty crazy lol. that's why dana white says in a lot of videos that he thinks frankie edgar is pound-for-pound one of the best guys out there.
