Its actually so obvious that this is set up (which of course it is, but they're meant to make it look real and believable), because Lewis was in range of killing Israphel with his diamond sword for at least 5-6 seconds, but he intentionally stalled/hesitated to kill him, and if this was a real situation, Israphel would be dead. Still an epic show though! XP
