  • Behaviorism can show replication and control over various behaviors in various populations that prove that behaviorism is a science that is trustworthy.

Yet it can also be used to explain covert behavior as mentioned in Skinner's book in 1953 "Science and Human Behavior" and even language in his book in 1957 "Verbal Behavior."

  • Yet Fiske & Linville (1980) say, The most clear-headed overall view of the schema concept-or of any other newcomer-is to let a thousand conceptual flowers bloom. This could also be stated as looking at any individual idea and be nurturing first, to see what develops, rather than weeded out at the first sign of weakness.

At this point it is important to note that all of these theories have been around long enough to have either proved something or not.

  • Once a true science is defined & experiments are run there may be failures with successes, but then through replication, reversals, & proof of the unlikelihood of other unaccounted for variables causing change a true field where flowers will & can bloom in abundance should be possible.

It is hoped that any individual can appreciate science & what it would look like in relation to what is considered very complex, namely, the human individual.

  • Human behavior, thought, or language could be explained by many philosophies or models. Those with autism R often oblivious that language is most often used 4 communication with a partner. Is egocentric language either a stage within development of language or the reason 4 development of private speech?

In proving a scientific model the best method is to have a definition of the variables to be manipulated (dependent variables) and the variables to use to manipulate (independent variables).

  • Some of the biggest names in psychology are Freud, Jung, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Skinner. Freud & Jung are known for psychoanalysis.

Piaget & Vygotsky are known for the developmental theory or the constructivist theory, respectively.

Skinner is known for the behavioral theory.

  • Sabina Spielrein corresponded & influenced Jung & Freud in their development of psychoanalytic theory (Carotenuto, 1980). Piaget was personally analyzed by Sabina Spielrein in the 1920s. Sabina Spielrein had a relationship with Jung & Piaget (with Jung while his patient). She was 2nd woman to be admitted to Wednesday Psychological Society, in November 1911 (Freud, 1910-1911/1979; Spielrein, 1912). Through Russian Psychoanalytic Society gave several lectures attended by Vygotsky in 1923.
