  • 33 MHz what a joke on today tech

  • This is cool, where did you find these?

  • 4 mb ram and 488 hard disk... thats something.. for 1 grand... at least i can play mario bros..

  • @Adonis1884 lmao

  • I still own a funai hi fi Vcr I bought with my first paychecks back in 1996 for $100 ,

  • My fave Circuit City was in Rego Park, Queens. The last thing I bought was in the Going out of Buissnes Sale. I got a Walkman and some DVDs

    RIP Curcuit City

  • @joe402, looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool! nuff said, but you forgot the sunglasses, to make it more epic. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooOOooOoOoOoOOoooOooOooOoOoooOl! hahahehahahahahehahahaheha!

  • Its amazing to see, in these commercials, how technology advances in such a short time. ps,

RIP Circuit City Gurnee, IL. Dec 2008. I Worked there from June 2006-closing in Dec 2008. Good Times (gurnee Mills Mall.) :(

  • R.I.P circuit city

  • I went to 3 stores during their closing sales and got more stuff than everything I ever bought in the past at Circuit City, but afterward I felt like I was ripping off a good friend or kicking someone already on the ground, it was a strange feeling.

  • @Gamebox27

Oh yeah I heard about Hills they're right next door to Borders & Anchors Blue!!

  • THEY ARE REOPENING THERE DOORS ON JUNE/16/2011

  • @JaredvaldezTV fuckin lier.

  • RIP my favorite store in Rego Park, NY

You know, after a while that "where service is a state of the art" anthem gets awfully annoying hearing it repeatedly. I might have to get home and listen to a couple of songs in the last item I bought at Circuit City to take that song off my system.

Thanks goodness they got rid of that guy making the voice over in 1986 and 1987 I was falling asleep. Sorry guy if you are reading this lol.

  • Last thing I purchased there was a headset that blocked the outside noise. It was one of those big headphones that practically cover your entire ears like ear muffs.

  • Wow, those commercials bring back memories. I miss that flying plug at the end of their commercials.

  • The technology is sooooo old but that was technology back then

  • 1 person forgot to integrate his circuits at circuit city and missed the "like" button

  • The Circuit City management were a bunch of crooks. They were in debt in millions of dollars to major electronics companies yet its executives were paying themselves nice salaries. Over 1500 idiots were working in the corporate headquarters alone. They should've gone out of business earlier. And Best Buy should've been shut down even before Circuit City. Best Buy is and was the worst retailer that ever existed in America since the dawn of dinosaurs.

  • I didn't know Howard Finkel did circuit city commercials. lol.

  • omg i gotta hurry up and get my car running so i can get my savings!!!!!!!

  • wait a minute. if circuit city closed, why is the site still up?

  • @sellbotvpmaster99 Investors will basically buy "X" company out of bankruptcy which means they have rights to the name, logo's etc etc. So in this case, Circuit City is now basically an online company.

  • @Talley35 ooh now i get it thx

  • @sellbotvpmaster99 looks like online sales only.

  • @RocketFast321 hmm interesting they shouldve shut down the site too between you and me

  • @RocketFast321 No. Systemax bought the trademarks and rights after the company closed, and the site relaunched under the same name.

  • @sellbotvpmaster99 Systemax, a computer hardware company whose secondary business includes buying defunct retail companies began negotiating to purchase the web domain from the trademark's owners and relaunch it as an online store. The sale was completed on May 19, 2009. that's why it's still up but the stores dont exist no more =(

  • gawd i would kill for this stuff

  • RIP circuit city thumbs up if you want it back!

  • @TheMichael408 I know its weird there still a couple Circuit City close to me in LA. I felt weird last year when I went to a Circuit City to looks at Halloween costumes.

  • Wow did you know they still have Circut city in San Jose, bye the Eastridge fully intact, like the building is still there since it went out of bussines,

    ahh memorys...

  • Great compilation! I'd completely forgotten that "Where service is state of the art" jingle.

  • The sure got a lot of mileage out of the Anthem, didn't they?

That with the power plug entrance is probably my favorite jingle/logo combination.

  • At 8:37 A cordless phone for 49.97? Wow, they haven't come down in price. Amazing.

  • my 60 inch 3D/2D LED Flat screen is going to seem like a joke when im 50.

  • 2:01 omg, you accidently repained that turntable into a breeder reactor.

  • Working on a documentary about the rise and fall of Circuit City... How can I get original copies of these commercials?

  • HA! I remember "The Kid" commercial. It was on all the time back then.

  • Wow only $50 for a cordless phone! I'm on my way!...oh yeah, they're out of business...

  • Hard to believe I made 60K in commissions selling that stuff back then, and met movie stars at the store in Santa Barbara, CA

  • this is sadd

  • Ah, the 80's and 90's were truly the golden age of technology.

  • where did you get the instore loop?

  • OMG, the Circuit City Anthem. That really gives me so much nostalgia as a child. I always thought the lyrics went "Welcome to Circuit City! Circuit City yeah!" Damn Wacky Deli.

But the one Circuit City ad I remember so strongly was this Christmas commercial, where at the end of it, you see the plug come down, to which it becomes the Circuit City building, and then you see a cartoon Santa Claus come running out of the building, going, "Ho Ho Ho!".

  • HOLY SHIT A VCR FOR ALMOST $300 BUCKS!!!! SO CRAZY

The first Circuit City here in Vegas look just like the store on the Commercial!!!! I miss Circuit City they always had the shit that Best Buy didnt carry, and the prices were way fucking lower!!!! Still dont understand why or how they went under I always went to there instead of Best Buy and all my friends did also. Fuck you Best Buy now I have to drive all the way to Frys Electronics to get a good deal FUCKER

  • Shit, DVD players used to run for that much. Now, you can get a no-name for thirty bucks.

  • Someone cleaned the old Circuit City sign in Humble, TX. You can see the old yellow colored design underneath. Pretty sad. They just moved the whole store over to Deerbrook Mall before finally shutting down for good.

  • i didn't know people used to haggle for common household appliances.

  • 7:51

I can't stand New England accents...

  • i fuckin hated this store thank satan yhat it is out of bussiness never did liked it i always liked best buy better than this fuckin peice of shit store

  • Hey thanks kpetree10 for doing this!

I didn't realize how much I missed those old Circuit city commercials. Actually, for the last few years the old Circuit City theme song kept popping into my head, and today I decided I going looking for it on here. Man, even though some people talk bad about the company, I will miss it. RIP Circuit City!

  • two of the guys in this band (the one this account is meant to represent) recorded an album dedicated to circuit city, but they claim it is too shitty to share

  • RIP Circuit City :(. Those "Welcome to Circuit City, where service is state of the art" commercials still ring in my head from the early 90's. I remember my techno-savvy dad buying EVERYTHING from there in the 90's too, until Best Buy opened in Mobile early this decade and the store layout just appealed more to him and everyone else. You will be missed Circuit City!

  • Circuit City was the best. Now Circuit City is in a mall in heaven with MONTGOMERY WARD, GOOD GUYS, MERVYN, THE WAREHOUSE, SAM GOODY, KB TOYS, and comings soon BLOCKBUSTER.

  • Don't forget Sharper Image and the Warner Brothers Studio Store.

  • Oh yeah those store was good Jeff you got it.

  • Not to mention Gimbel's...

  • @SpeedyRaven2000 Oh yeah I remembered Gimbels. Gimbels & Woolworth were the best.

Thier right next to Alpha-Beta & Levitz. =->

  • @AngeLBarraganJR and Hills department store

  • The first thing I purchased from CC was a Panasonic Walkman in 93. I went with my parents and was so excited. And the last thing I purchased was an iPod touch.

I will miss Circuit City. Good luck to all former employees.

  • @jcnsri How old were you when you got the Walkman?

  • CC is still going strong in Canada!

  • does anybody know if CC Canada has a website

  • thesource is what CC is called in canada as far as i know and its basically little radio shacks.

  • @chadt4 wow

  • Circuit City's "The Anthem" is awesome. I've been wanting to find the full version of their old theme song for awhile. Does anyone know who wrote it?

  • So that's the name of the campaign, "The Anthem". An appropriate name, if you ask me.

  • It scares me how many of these ads I remember very well LOL

  • Anyone remember The Good Guys? :P

  • I do antdude. Almost look like that the good guys just vanished out of nowhere. Im surprised that youtube doesn't have any good guys commercials or did they even did an going out of business commercial.

  • @antdude wait was good guys the mechanic place?

  • @TheMichael408 I think so? I don't remember. Does anyone else know?

  • I guess their service...wasn't state of the art.

  • 4:05 she got sexy NYLONS ON

  • WOW 80'S STYLE LIVING at it's worse but 80's music rules

  • WOW, only $1389.97 for a computer with 4mb of ram, 33mhz cpu and a large 420 mb hard drive. im gonna go get one today!

  • @LiquidWaffle Yup too bad computers have only improved slightly since then, lol

  • The very last thing I bought at Circuit City was an iPod 120GB, back in December. They will be missed.

  • RIP Store 3810 Harlingen, TX 78550 "The City" Opened June 26, 2008- Closing Forever March 31, 2009

  • It was really stupid, if you watch my part 2 vid it has their ad for "Drive to 65" where they opened 65 new stores a little over a year before they announced bankruptcy. They had to have seen it comming.

  • @kpetree10 Yep they had just opened up a new one where I live built in a brand new plaza and everything. I hate to say it but they expanded to quickly=/

  • This is a great compilation; thanks for all the work you put into it. I used to spend hours with the Lafayette catalog when I was a kid in the 60's.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rat Shack was the next to fold. I think Circ. City could be considered the pioneer of big box stores for specialized merchandise.

  • RIP Circuit City 1948-2009.

  • I thought they began in 1949.

  • Yeah, it was 1949, sorry I mistyped on that one. But still, it's too bad to see this store go.

  • And some will say it got worse for them after they got rid of that catchy "Service is State of the Art" campaign, that by far was their best one.
