I love fugazi, fucked up got ambushed zipped in. ......the trip I found about this particular song, is that it made like #3 or 4 on Gavin Rossdale's favorite songs of all time. That's not why I'm here, I hate Bush.
I remember listening to this song alot around the time someone I knew in high school was hit by a car and killed while skateboarding. It was around '92-93
7 bux in guelph at the university w/ shudder to think and a local band 1991 or so... been so long. "you will do what looks good on paper, we will do what we must!!!
@angry8pe HA! Yes, saw them on that tour w/Shudder To Think in Atlanta at the Masquerade, the local act was Royal Trux, the guitarist was a chick that seemed on the verge of nodding out, smoked the whole time, used a lighter for a slide, frontman was a spastic Evan Dando lookalike, the whole crowd just sat down and looked at them like "are we done yet" but when STT came on, he praised them for just pushing through and doing their thing calling THAT attitude "punk as hell".
Hot Water Music was one of my favorite bands in High School (circa 2000) but once I got into Fugazi I saw how much of a rip off they are, everything from the guitar style to the dual vocals to the proficient bass groove noodling and tight drumming, hindsight eh? Kind of like discovering The Pixies or Joy Division for the first time and realizing every indie band you thought was original and cool growing up all copped their sound from them
@SartorialSasquatch I am older and saw Fugazi my first time in 1988. I love them, but Hot Water Music deserves and has had my respect and love ever since the first time I saw them play in 1996. Push for Coin is classic.
@SartorialSasquatch what a revelation. Seriously? Your favorite bands were inspired by the bands before them? I'm glad I could experience this with you. Wait! Please tell me who inspired Joy Division and The Pixies! Please!!!
@SartorialSasquatch Nowhere near. Thats a pretty shoddy comparison to be honest. A Flight And A Crash Maybe, but Caution is much different and the Chord arrangements are much different. I'd say Caution by Hot Water Music is somewhat more of an amalgamation of a good Punk Rock album, with more emphasis on the rock side of things. Very influenced by Fugazi.
@saucierrr lol indeed. i got to see them once just by word of mouth from a friend that heard from another friend. show was in some school gymnasium about 40 miles away.
@saucierrr - then i must have won the lottery in 1996 in Houston in a Tejano Club. (they played a dive bar that was usually a Tejano bar - random place, but really cool to see them) I've seen Ian McKaye twice, once with Fugazi and once with The Evens, he's always super cool, hangs out and talks with the audience. After the Fugazi show he hung out in the parking lot talking to everyone and signing autographs. Did the same at the Evens Show. Very down to earth guy.

@clockwerkkilla420 Come on man don't be such a douche, it's not a shoddy comparison at all. HWM has a lot more albums than just the 2 you mentioned.
gmx1100 1 month ago
@gmx1100 Ok, well those are the only 2 albums that I have heard so I guess I am being somewhat ignorant. Both bands kick ass in my opinion!
clockwerkkilla420 1 month ago
@clockwerkkilla420 It's true, they are both awesome! Check out the HWM albums "Fuel for the Hate Game," and "Forever and Counting" Amazing.

@SartorialSasquatch hey, you're being too hard on indie bands. some of them rip off Sonic Youth too.

This is one of the few albums to survive my post-college purge. I think it is essential. And this is the best song on it. Or maybe 'Exit Only'.
