  • The form was pretty good and you have nice kicks but there needs to be much more strength especially since you are a black belt and its a knife form.

  • Can't believe some of the negative comments here! I'm a 1st dan currently trying to learn this form and having a video somebody performing it so beautifully has really helped me. I think the timing and flow of the form looks great with nicely executed kicks, well done Charlotte.

  • I noticed lots of technical skill in the execution of the movements. Try to add more power and change the timing of some of the movements. The timing of the movements seem very measured, some of the movements are done at a rapid pace while others are measured and slow. Well done overall!

  • ok, every system has there thories so I will leave the obvious comment out. However, why do women in the arts have a need to over kick and have no kia? Kia is meant to improve power she sounds like she is saying kai as to the actual power producing yell. Shes not bad, the form is fine just no power, she could work on that so no real problem.

  • Young lady, keep doing what you do. Practise hard and keep your mind in it. I see a lot of negative comments that I don't like, that's what happens when you deal with people that can say what they want and knows they never have to face you. People can pose to be anyone they want on youtube. LOL! Study hard and remember practice makes perfect, no matter how long it may take! Good job!

  • Done very well, I have just been taught this form at a seminar after the World Champioships in Cardiff - 2011.

I think this is a very excellent example - well done, and well executed.

  • Tang Soo Do should not have any weapons forms, people tend to forget that Tang represents the Tang Dynasty in china, and Soo Do is open or empty hand, therefore weapons contradicts the very name of the art. They are great for bonus practice or whatever, but I don't recall ever hearing of Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee teaching weapons forms. I have nothing against weapons forms, just don't call them "Tang Soo Do" forms, it shows that you have no real understanding of the art.

  • @bankaibecker My children study Tang Soo Do. I am very impressed with this style. Just because football has the word "foot" in it doesnot mean you only use your foot! A weapon is only an extention of your hand. I am quite sure if Master Hwang Kee was attacked by multiple attackers and a weapon was available, he would have used it! Also, when you are translating, words are not translated as singular words.

  • The words are combined, sometimes to mean something different. For example, Tang Soo Do actually is translated to mean "Way of the China hand." Are you a Tang Soo Do artist? If so, you need to research the color black, I see you are wearing a black and white uniform.

  • @midwesthairshowdown ... and yes it does mean way of the china hand, the tang dynasty in china. but in korean language its not translated in such a simpleton manner and has multiple meanings, hence my argument of "soo do" and yes i am aware that traditionally the uniforms are white trimmed with midnight blue. trying to discredit my argument by saying i'm not wearing the right color so i must not know anything about TSD seems kinda weak... =\

  • @midwesthairshowdown I've studying Tang Soo Do for 15 years, kudos to your kids who do TSD but if your gonna go on youtube starting debates when you yourself don't even train then I suggest you do something else to pass your time. I'm sure that if KJN Hwang Kee was attacked and had a knife he would utilize it, but as I said before knife forms were never formally taught by him to my knowledge, and therefore anyone doing such forms are practicing something someone else just added in and called TSD

  • just remember the people who moan and groan on the internet about techniques styles etc are missing the point. Martial arts are a positive force about self improvement and control of your physical being in adverse situations. I think your form is looking good! I train in tkd and have been learning this form and dan gum hyung and bo staff forms I like tang soo do!

  • can you do it at maximum speed?i want to see how fast it can hit

  • Very, very nice here.

  • This is sooooo cool!

  • are you sure this the traditional knife form

  • Comment removed

  • go view Enter the tajan

  • Nice job!

    Try breaking up your timing.

  • dont know if someone alteady said it, but you could do the ki haps a little louder. you almost have to scream them

  • Speed and acuracy are 2 different things but more important which knife form is this? I dont know this one,,, is this one tang soo do moo duk kwan soo bahk based or is it taken from another style?

  • GM Shin has said if you do the Hyung 100 times you will see adversaries in the Hyung. If you do the Hyung 1000 times we will see the adversaries in the Hyung. Keep working till we see those adversaries.

  • Grand Master Shin was so right its happen to me at times

  • I am a 4th Dan right now and it looks to fast but keep at it!!

  • this is good but at my class the kids can do it much faster but this is really good icant even do it

  • Ok, the form looked great but there's one problem: There was no kiai. There was some kind of mumbling sound that came out, but it's supposed to be a yell. Without the kiai the form doesn't seem to have as much spirit in it the same could be said about whipping motions for quick moves. If you're not REALLY going to kiai then why bother even saying it? Kjhinn has some good insight here too, but other than that it looked good.

  • U DID THAT GOOD I take tang soo do but im a cho dan bo. ive seen ppl do that and u go girl

  • Get meaner when you do the kata.... IE act like your really in a fight and your stabbing/attacking someon. THe purpose of kata is not only aesthetics, but also to learn methods and combinations for attack and defense... its like shadow boxing and doing mitwork with a partner.

The great part about kata is that you don't need a partner, you can do it by yourself. Just realize; whatever you put into the kata is what you get out of it; hence if when attack/defend with your blade, do it with gusto!

  • You go girl.

  • Good for you, working at your art and asking for constructive feedback! I would suggest concentrating on visualizing the defense and attacks that you are making with the knife and working on increasing the speed and power with which the are delivered. Tang Soo and keep working!

  • I'm not gonna say anything bad about the girl in the clip of her form. But having trained in various martial arts (including TSD) I can honestly say that if you really want to learn some effective knife (and stick) fighting you may want to try the Filipino art or even American Kenpo and add their techniques to your school.

  • Just doing tangSoo with a Knife in the hand, might as well be holding flowers. No real knife skill. What is the point?

  • funny how your profile lists your occupation as martial artist but there are no videos of you!!!

  • Its not about me, its about using a knife in

a more useful manner. Ever see anyone work with a knife seriously and move THAT way as in the video. I wish everyone fought that way with a knife. Think of all the lives that would be saved. Cause NOONE would get hurt! The girl in the video does her form well its just the concept of the form or hyung itself is sketchy.

  • watch this form done right and you under stand more.this is meant to be a very powerful form but the person doing it dose it like a slow dance.

  • perhaps i should have put a coment right at the start.this was only a practice.i understand what everyone is saying about the power and speed but the purpose of the practice was technique.with correct technique comes power and speed.

  • true but with no power as shown here no matter how sharp your knife it is useless.

  • Power is not the issue with a good sharp knife, too much power works against you using a knife, especially against another knife. Flowing speed and sensitivity is what you need.

  • oi. She was practicing, making sure she had her moves correct. I have done Tang Soo Do for over 12 years. This is one of my personal favorite forms. It is full of power and grace, but it has to be practiced first. and always remember... There are two side to the phrase Martial Arts, there is the ultra practical, martial side, and the more flowing aescetic art side. sometimes they combine sometimes they dont, but in the end it is all about having fun and doing something you love.

  • good point, as long as the student keeps everything in perspective.

  • Irrespective of whether you have a weapon or not first and foremost should be the use of stance(jaseh) and hip(hu ri), develope both of these to maximise your power.

  • Faster movements and better stance wshould be applied... I'm not a martial artist.. n_n hey, you want a comment right?

  • Nice and agile but missing power!

Put some heart in it! Picture yourself in a real situation, you'll soon improve.

  • Sweet, I don't do karate but that was kl.

I'd be scared of you if I was in your food tech lol.

Charlotte WOOO....wow u got loads more views than I have

  • Movements aren't bad but your kihaps are kind of weak. This hyung is rare but you did fine

  • nice form check out my katas and tell me what you think

  • Non ce male...la forma è eseguita bene ma solo che non si vede la differenza tra un attacco e una parata...

  • well done!

  • well done!

  • esos kyap tenian cero onda... los golpes tambien... esta linda la forma pero me sigue gustando mas el soo bahk do

    Soo bahk!!

  • |T$ $O C00l

  • very good

  • good form but no power in your strikes. are you tappping them with the knife. or stabbing? my master and myself love the dagger form but it should be done with crule intent.slashing and stabbing with conviction. but your form was corect and fluid.

  • Si, definitaveminte cool, la chica patea muy bien, y tiene tecnica, pero le falta fuerza, pero me gusto mucho como presento su forma.

  • very cool!
