Thanks for Shelly's video. It's great. I remember his first comedy album from about 50 years ago. Talked about requirement of wearing a seat belt on a plane in case it came to a sudden stop....like against a mountain. Wish I could hear that album again.
EBursey, thanks for your reply. You remember his lines. I remember Shelley talking about the sickness bags with instructions in several languages, all translated as "in hear slob!". Looking out the airplane window and seeing the exhaust at night making the engine look as though it was "joyously inflames". The goofy captain on the intercom talking to the passengers. Also the bit where he calls his sister and he has a conversation with his little nephew. Hilarious. Too bad youtube forced it off.
"You know that little slot, behind the seat infront of you? And it contains all kinds of goodies? You know, they're free? Well no matter how sophisticated I get, I rummage through that slot in the hopes of finding some new treasure; like an old Sandwich, a forgotten Erskine Caldwell novel ( if anyone can forget an Erskine Caldwell novel. Frankly I don't know why that man is seeking success... He could have so much fun just sitting around, thinking)"
Shelly, as i kid me and my friend memorized your routines! you're a big part of our childhoods, for that i love you! and.... I'm fine, thank you, fine!(smile...)
Shelly Berman was heard on his album talking about growing up in Chicago. For this listener from rural South Dakota, that was a new cultural awakening. Shelly talked about how his father spotted him the dough to go to New York to become an actor. I haven't heard the album for years, but I have always remembered that very heartfelt account, and I believe it allowed me to view people from any big city as human, and not stereotypically unfeeling and calloused. God Bless him and his whole family.
The "cameraman bit" is hilarious!!!!
P.S. I want that grapefruit!!!

I did have it, but Youtube forced me to take it off. Very Funny guy.
"Coffee, Tea or Milk?"
"We don't have time for Coffee, Tea or Milk. The Wing is on fire! We're Doomed!"
"Then how 'bout a martini?"
