  • Neil Diamond is a Legend! he gets better and better!

  • I didn't know Chuck norris played guitar....

  • I was in that crowd and probably quite high. Good times.

  • Surprising energy.

  • 12 dislikers are dr hook's fans...

  • @applemelliza ...or some sort of rapcrappers?

  • 0:31 hehe

  • Great Neil Diamond ! Band performance on stage as a whole is really worthy to be noticed and applauded !!

  • art or f*rt who can tell

    a great ride it is

soul in a shiny giftwrap paper

    no shame to notice both

but are u fond of disliking the paper or liking the soul?

    bless

  • There are poets and there are musicians, then there are those rare individuals, like Neil, who are both.

  • @richroach1 Very well said. I agree totally. The man is a legend!

  • I'd love to see Neil Diamond and Tom Jones duel a song or two...

  • these american session musicians are such bores!

  • silly old twat

  • You can tell the man loves performing. He still got it going on. His band has been with him so long, I am sure they are like family , all awesome !

  • I bet you guys didn't know that Neil wrote for the Monkees! Did ja? Did ja? Neil rocks!! And so did the Monkees!

  • Neil hat diesen Song geschrieben und den Monkees zur Verfügung gestellt !

    Bravo Neil!

  • He has the right to sing it... he after all wrote it ! :D Classy guy Diamond ! :D

But the Monkees the best version ever ! Smashmouth is a Joke version god damn it ! Sucks...

    NEIL DIAMOND AND MONKEES !!!

  • @thecillian11 No, no.... Neil Diamond most definitely wrong this song.

  • Does he also perform his other Monkees song- A little Bit Me.???

  • @IanHunedoara8 type this: Neil Diamond - A Little Bit Me,A Little Bit You (1967)

  • If Neil Diamond lives to be a thousand and one years old, the thirtieth century will wail at his passing. On a high note, given how he looks at nearly seventy years old, he just might pull it off. Here's to hoping.

  • If you wrote it then you have the right to sing it. Period, end of story.

  • i agree, Neil Diamond has infinitely more talent

  • @thecillian11 actually he did write it look it up he wrote the song for the monkeys, the monkeys only performed it.

  • Neil Diamond wrote this song. The Monkees were not allowed to write their own songs in the beginning.

  • how can you possibly not like this?!

  • @thecillian11

    No, no, no - it`s Neil`s song!!!

  • Love you Neil! All Glory to God!

    Your songs are great!

  • 1:17 F that guy who isn't enjoying the song

  • Woohoo....gonna see Neil at the O2 in July.

  • Neil Diamond... the legendary writer, performer, artist.

  • So it was Neil Diamond, then Monkees, then smash mouth

  • Thats the problem with the coverage of festivals. The so self-consciously 'cool' presenters, their whining delivery and their all too carefully considered clothing. Facile questions that haven't even been thought through. All these self absorbed idiots should be fired by the BBC.

  • great

  • Great artist good heart. Most enjoyable Im hooked

  • Brian Wilson did the same thing the year before at Glasto.

    Drove the crowd wild.

The oldies always put on a great show!

  • Poor guys holding up sizeable ladies at 2:12 :))

  • He didn't write it for the monkees,he wrote it himself but allowed them to record it.......

  • HIS VOICE,I GUESS, WON'T NEVER CHANGE..

  • This guy puts on an unbelievable concert and the entire place just goes nuts! What an experience going to his concerts!

  • Wow! Great songs of Neil Diamond.

  • Do you see the size of the audience? All of them singing and cheering. All of them fans of this legendary performer. It has to inspire him to give them the best performance he can.

  • Hey Neil make sure ur there in 2011, plzzzzz millions want to see u again millions and millions. xxx

  • That crowd rocked.

  • He is still a hunk!

  • 8 people arent believers.

  • 8 people don't believe in love

  • Oh, I LOVE the way he does this here!!!

  • I love Neil Diamond! He gets better with age. He's more awesome now than 30 years ago. A true professional and gifted artist and great performer. He has so much class.

  • @misselissa608

I so agree!! I love the way he performed this song in the video!!

  • My God! He is 70 years old!

  • @misselissa608 i think he's great too.........but as far as getting better with age? Have you heard his voice lately? all the screaming songs and cigarettes have destroyed it. :(

  • @dougeran bullshit...

  • @misselissa608 I can't say it better. He's like a good wine, He gets better with the years.

  • @misselissa608 he sounds good but i liked him best about 1968-1972 his prime..espec the BBC concert

i hate the way he talks some of the lyrics now very annoying..

  • i find this version too busy. i prefer his original, or even the monkees.

  • Legend

  • J'adoreeeeeeee.............

  • the best :)

  • i feel like it was better when the monkees sang it because there was a boyish charm to them and it was simpler. now it seems like he modernized it a bit. Still sounds good but its missing some feeling i think.

  • now i do have to ask... how many crowds today are having clean fun like this??? this is what it was all about :)))

  • Awesome Neil!

  • Neil Diamond is 68 here so keep that in mind. In a nutshell: amazing. He turns 70 in January 2011.

  • I still don't like this version, The Monkees RULE

  • Monkees may rule, but Neil wrote this song for them.

  • @mlxp This isnt a version. He wrote it and performed it first. Therefore the excellent Monkees performed a version. :)

  • @mlxp hahaha, what are they ruling , where are they now, hohoho

  • yea neil awesome like allways !

  • Wow, is that King Erickson on the percussion? He was doing this in 1974 when I saw Neil back then!

  • whoa this is bad!

  • s'cuse me here but...

    GLASTONBURY, LET'S... 80's ROCK!

  • cool, Id like to see him do when he was younger though this is cool.

  • I love Neil's studio recording of this song better than the Monkees. His background vocals and instrumentals make it rein supreme.

  • search for some chicks showin' off their tits and you get a thumb up!

  • Er ist wunderbar! Einer der besten Songschreiber und Sänger!

    Eine lebende Legende!!!!

    Love Neil !!!!

  • Luv da monkees one

But gotta give him da credit for writing it

  • Neil is a sensuous singer, great style

  • oooooo man the kid is picking a boog

  • He wasn't picking his nose...He was pointing at his brain.

  • cool-love that song-Tghe Monkees.

  • @duncanlover The kids that did get the parts as the Monkees were talented musicians, and them young guys did a real good job singing and playing Neil's song, love the Monkees too.

  • No, Neil wrote this song! I like the version by the Monkees better, though

  • @tenjed2 he wrote the song

  • @tenjed2 The Monkee's werent a real band you know this right, The Monkees were a Manufactured band all the members were auditioned and got the part. Neil Dimond wrote the song for the Monkees and got paid good for it.

  • @minorkatminor They may have been the prefab four, but they were musically talented and swiftly became a real band and made music even after the show ended.

  • @wolfmanjim hahahha not like the beatles.

  • @minorkatminor Well, Nesmith and Tork were musicians already and the others trained for it. They definitely could perform and did, and eventually left the show to do just that.

  • Great songwriter. Pity he got lost in MOR wilderness for 25 years. His contribution to popular music over almost 45 years has been phenomenal. His songs will outlive him.

  • The guy wrote some great songs and this is a great version, with a wonderful OTT band..

  • egomaniac but he can write a good tune

  • This is one of those toe tappen sing along songs that just makes you feel good. This band rocks not to mention old Neil himself...

  • ♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫rare neil diamond trump cards now on ebay

    ♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

  • Pity the only recording from the 2008 Tour is based on the New York Concerts, BUT "HOT AUGUST NIGHT NYC" is still a good way to help recall the Tour!!!!

  • wow what a video. This is the first time I saw it very cool indeed.

  • NICE !!! Elvis' drummer playing drums...."Ronnie Tutt!!

  • Great band. Neil's a professional. Professional badass. If you don't like any of his songs, then you don't like music.

  • Its a great piece, 7,000 dollar one. Didn't he come on SNL a few years ago without it?

  • Rip off of the Monkees (just joking he penned this diddy for them). I like this tune.

  • cuando sea grande quiero acabar como este viejito

  • Weave or hairpiece?

  • @Knugabug what what what,no way...my word matey if it was a hairpiece, then by what is good..why would you where that one

  • wow how old is he...ageless...priceless performance

  • Yay, Neil!!!

  • Amen to the lord

  • Neil Diamond is the real deal!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thestevo what are you trying to say about teenagers :@

  • This is a real entertainer!

  • i wuld rather have been 12 then rather than now. i mean the musics okish now but...

  • face it the music today is trash and it would be go to be in the 70s it was a nice eyser time

  • I completely agree. All I will listen to is

    70's music and before.

  • No... they recorded it. Neil wrote it....

  • Yes, the Monkees..............but Diamond wrote it and performed it first.

  • @TheIcewitch54 actually the monkees were the first to perform this song, neil diamond wrote it for them and started playing it live later

  • @TheIcewitch54

100% correct, Icewitch! In the movie "Shrek", Smashmouth sings this song!

    Neil Diamond was/is a genious!

  • @TheIcewitch54 yes, but the monkees were the first to release it

  • @TheIcewitch54

If only the originators could get all the acolades they deserve! !

  • Uhuh, but Diamond wrote the song.

  • neil actually wrote this song himself....

  • amen to that!! neil diamond is real music, thank you....

  • Smash Mouth, I love you and your version and all, but this is purely epic!

  • Holy smokes! What a fun version but the reactions of the crowd is priceless. I admittedly don't know much about this obviously famous festival but I doubt Neil was the typical act and I'm sure they were all impressed. How cool.

  • quality, not like the pish that is passed as 'music' these days,id hate to be a teenager these days as the music is crap,im a stones, beach boys, neil diamond, eagles, kinks fan,bur even when i was 19 there was still quality kicking about with joe jackson and the police and the beat, what do we have now? one month wonders, thats what....

  • yeah your right there- its all thid wanna be like america shit r'n'b boring music or posy useless studenty type bands with no charisma or style anymore- and i aint old either !

  • heck yeah me too,you must be so darn lucky and proud to see him perform in concert.

  • Love Neil Diamond !! Saw him on tv for 4th of July concert in Boston

  • If you like this, try Neil's version of "I Dreamed A Dream". Check out the change of lyrics. Video link posted above. Enjoy!

  • great version! i wish i've could have been there, I love the 60's music

  • u rock

  • Wow, this is from 2008? His voice sounds good!

  • Neil Diamond's version and The Monkees' version are the best! But Neil Diamond's version is clearly my favourtie!

  • sure is best with neil diamond he wrote the song for the monkees in the end of 60's

  • my favorite version is the eddy murphys

  • neil diamond sings very good

  • i love all versions! but does anyone know who did the one on Shrek?

  • Smash Mouth does the Shrek version. I like that one, as well as The Monkees.

  • thanx heaps! i love all versions of this song!

  • I think the Monkees do this song better.

  • I think most people do because it was such a big hit for them and not Neil. I like both but its his song and I prefer him singing it.

  • I think without Neil, the Monkees would have been not so popular.

  • He only wrote a handful that they heard, liked and wanted to record. I really love ones that Mike Nesmith wrote and this was only after The Monkees started doing what they wanted to do, so its not like they needed people writing music for them to be "popular".

  • What you say is very true, I had forgotton all the ones they wrote themselves. You'll have to forgive my memory. Cheers

  • Great song for the M's.

  • Excellent and fun!

  • thankyou mum x

  • lookin fit and sounding good rock on Neil!

  • He is brilliant !!!!!

  • neil diamond is fantastic

  • Many artists would give their right lung to have a back catalog of songs as strong as Diamond's. I am only amazed that it has taken until age 67 for him to finally achieve the acclaim he has always deserved. Good on him and long live the 'frog who dreamed of being a king and then became one!'

  • Hi everybody.

Don't forget that "on drums, from Big D is hard worker, Ronnie Tutt"

Elvis' Drummer from 1969 to 1977

  • Great, a true genius at work, love this man!

  • neil diamond wrote this! and did it way before!

  • tru but the monkees made it famous. obviously the general public don't share our exquisite taste! :P

  • Brilliant as always.

  • Great to see Neil looking and sounding so good! He is the best. Can't wait to see him in the States.
