Wow..i am totally blow away by this geeza..hes my hero..
i started usin Ableton and thought.. this is where its at..simple creative amazingness, it does everything..better.. around the same time i'm listenin to Monolake and really feelin the proper atmosphere and depth of his techno sounds..then a friend told me that he helped design and build Ableton. so i looked into it and found vids of him with his custom built mental controllers..cant get enough of it. the dude is a legend
Saw Monolake last weekend at Bloc. Best set by a mile. The intimacy of being down in the booth as opposed to up on stage, as well as the performance element of Monodeck II, blew me away completely.
Well if someone takes the time to learn the ins and outs of assembly code, electronics, midi ect then it is all possible! It certainly will NOT take a short time though. :P
I wish I had the knowledge to make such a controller.. I envy the cliplaunch matrix! Why haven't anyone made a controller specifically for Live yet? I think it would be a huge hit on the market..
I also noticed some sort of layer switching down on the right hand side, I wonder what he's switching between..
And yes, for the next video, please use some sort of stand! I feel kind of dizzy after watching this clip!
Well, it's made specifically for DJ- use. And it features a big analouge mixer part which I don't need. On top of it all, it's massively expensive here in Norway! Aprox 20 000 NOK, or somewhere around 4000 USD. One of the main reasons for me liking the Monodeck II is the clip launch matrix as I've said earlier. It gives you total control with visual feedback.
I can also report that I'm now building my own controller thanks to hardware from Doepfer!
Coll! I`ve been waiting for Monodeck video a long gime, and stubbed accidentally onto it. Nice controller. I expected it is bigger, but hard to tell without hands on. To bad audio is captured by cam mic.
You should really put some oil on that chair man. ;)
this device is art.

shit He could afford to be a bitch and I agree, but shit ableton live should just come with the suite and not just several version of this software.

Hey, check out the Akai APC-40 Ableton Performance Controller.... it's the ultimate Monodeck? Or did Mr Henke got involved with Akai? Luv your music!
onnolab 3 years ago
absolutely stunning.
and for those of you wondering, the "geek with no life" is not only responsible for those buttons he's turning ...
but perhaps most importantly for both you and I, the software he's using to control it with:
Ableton.

Does anybody know what that small module with the big knob above the monodeck is? Compressor maybe?
talkinghead22 3 years ago
I was thinking that too.. Could be just volume...
nicos808 3 years ago
The small module is actually a 5.1 base. Really good, especially, obviously if you are working in Surround Sound
All the knobs and switches on it are so you can choose which speakers have sound coming out.
I think they range around 500 pounds, but i could be wrong.
It is a bit like a Mackie BIG KNOB. Because of the big volume knob, and the output capabilities.
I can not remember what company makes them, I know i have it in one of my magazines. Will post back when i find it.
Hope this helped
Phelxre 3 years ago 4
looks like a compressor but I am thinking it is a a volume controlled or maybe it is 24 channel output input thinggy
