  • this device is art.

  • Boring music.

  • @whinchacha no

  • Is that a Synclavier I see in the background?! Hugely expensive, those things are!!

There's a Prophet VS there too.

    Amazing stuff!

  • versiert ! aber warum ripped er die screens ?

  • Are those all Xone Knobs? Looks like the volume knobs are from the 92 rotary, and everything else looks like it's from the Xone:4D

  • I love his eerie pad chord sounds under the beats.

  • that controller already is great but the music... THE MUSIC! wow, that man knows what it´s all about.

  • simply amazing

  • Robert rules!

it just inspired me several years ago (yet)

and I built my own diy controller named protodeck in 2009 and began already to play live with it.

  • Wow..i am totally blow away by this geeza..hes my hero..

i started usin Ableton and thought.. this is where its at..simple creative amazingness, it does everything..better.. around the same time i'm listenin to Monolake and really feelin the proper atmosphere and depth of his techno sounds..then a friend told me that he helped design and build Ableton. so i looked into it and found vids of him with his custom built mental controllers..cant get enough of it. the dude is a legend

  • i love this man

  • It must be so cool to have your own costum controller!

  • apc40 is wayyyy better ;)

    just playin..

  • @johnisfaster you gotta be kidding man Monodeck is a one of a kind controller its not even for sale.

  • @johnisfaster and its way better than the APC 40.

  • monodeck o pls

  • shit... love this kind of sound....

  • wieso hat robert haare...?

  • amazing what he can do with this stuff...

    love it!

  • Hey, that's a Synclavier to his right!

  • monodeck 2 bitches!!

  • looks awesome done on the fly

  • Comment removed

  • he makes good music, but he's still a bitch.

  • shit He could afford to be a bitch and I agree, but shit ableton live should just come with the suite and not just several version of this software.

  • Hey, check out the Akai APC-40 Ableton Performance Controller.... it's the ultimate Monodeck? Or did Mr Henke got involved with Akai? Luv your music!

  • absolutely stunning.

and for those of you wondering, the "geek with no life" is not only responsible for those buttons he's turning ...

but perhaps most importantly for both you and I, the software he's using to control it with:

    Ableton.

  • real badass!

    %-)

  • wooow.. was ein geiler controller O_o

  • Wow, that is simply the coolest controler ever!

If I understood correctly this thing is homemade right? That's insane man, respect!

  • if i only could buy one of those :)

  • Nice work man!

  • Sweet Man! I like your gear.

  • Does anybody know what that small module with the big knob above the monodeck is? Compressor maybe?

  • I was thinking that too.. Could be just volume...

  • The small module is actually a 5.1 base. Really good, especially, obviously if you are working in Surround Sound

All the knobs and switches on it are so you can choose which speakers have sound coming out.

I think they range around 500 pounds, but i could be wrong.

It is a bit like a Mackie BIG KNOB. Because of the big volume knob, and the output capabilities.

I can not remember what company makes them, I know i have it in one of my magazines. Will post back when i find it.

    Hope this helped

  • looks like a compressor but I am thinking it is a a volume controlled or maybe it is 24 channel output input thinggy

  • Saw Monolake last weekend at Bloc. Best set by a mile. The intimacy of being down in the booth as opposed to up on stage, as well as the performance element of Monodeck II, blew me away completely.

Robert, if you're listening, it was SUPERB!

  • Welcome to the future.

  • When you make the MonoDeck III, can i have this one?

    :)

  • MMM, wantings. subscribe..

  • homo below...mon then!

  • yer a spaz n yer music ist echt scheiss

  • yer a spaz n yer music ist echt scheiss

  • keep it up!

as a Live user since v.3 I love seeing what you and your team bring about in music, science, engineering...design

    peace from Burlington, Ontario, Canada

  • wot a geek this guy must be! i mean that in the good way- like the richie hawtin way! wot a leg-end. reeespect!

  • Nerd :P

  • are u ginger by any chance? only old ginger ppl use that word nowadays y'ol! i will you tube battle u ne day! mon' then ;P

  • WERD!

  • I would eat my own first born for that controller.

  • I would even say yum yum while doing it.

  • i would wank my tiny little pecker off and watch with total arousment until i ejaculateed all over my bellybutton!

  • dude is this guy from space or what. he is not human.... building this kind of equipment for your own personal shows is not of the average man..

  • Well if someone takes the time to learn the ins and outs of assembly code, electronics, midi ect then it is all possible! It certainly will NOT take a short time though. :P

  • amazing! respect for mr henke! always so dubby , soulfull and original!

  • Genius shit I have tryed to make a smaller midi controller for ableton for doing that sick stuff, I have not that much brain as he has

  • I wish I had the knowledge to make such a controller.. I envy the cliplaunch matrix! Why haven't anyone made a controller specifically for Live yet? I think it would be a huge hit on the market..

I also noticed some sort of layer switching down on the right hand side, I wonder what he's switching between..

And yes, for the next video, please use some sort of stand! I feel kind of dizzy after watching this clip!

  • People have, check out faderfox stuff.

  • Xone:3D made specifically for Ableton too!

  • Xone:3D made specifically for Ableton too!

  • Well, it's made specifically for DJ- use. And it features a big analouge mixer part which I don't need. On top of it all, it's massively expensive here in Norway! Aprox 20 000 NOK, or somewhere around 4000 USD. One of the main reasons for me liking the Monodeck II is the clip launch matrix as I've said earlier. It gives you total control with visual feedback.

I can also report that I'm now building my own controller thanks to hardware from Doepfer!

  • got any pic's or diagrams to show us?

  • Use a damn tripod!

  • state-of-the-art controller...genious producing, coding, and performing

pd: I miss the plants & the expanded ppg :)

    thx!!

  • Coll! I`ve been waiting for Monodeck video a long gime, and stubbed accidentally onto it. Nice controller. I expected it is bigger, but hard to tell without hands on. To bad audio is captured by cam mic.

You should really put some oil on that chair man. ;)

Oh yeah, nice monitor suspension. :)

  • boring..

its the same shit like 1994 .

    sorry no !

in the early 90´s he was better.

and with his "incredible" MONODECK...nahh its like playing with model railway.

    hey robert.. lets go fishing

  • Yo what album is that track from? Is he just freestyling?

  • whats so impressive of some guy with no life turning buttons...

  • yeah, you no-lifer: turn those buttons!

  • dont you know he design, engineer and built this controller... Robert you are a genius.

  • What's so impressive? Maybe it's that this "guy with no life turning buttons" is making simply fantastic music with a homemade control surface?

  • PEDAZO DE MAKIN A Q GASTA !!!!!el mejor en su genero!!

  • Amazing!!!

  • Very nice! Thanks!

  • impresioante !!! amo la musika de Monolake !!!!!

  • Obviously a product of dedication and passion. Congrats! Very inspiring.

  • oh sorry didn't see the ableton screen yet

  • whichh software?

  • yeah

  • yeah

  • Purr, purr.

  • You are the greattest ;)

That is one off the best equipment i ever saw.

lool... I would love to have one monodeck like yours loool ;)

    Good work
