No one is saying that public option will be perfect, but it will be a hell of a lot better than our current system. Right now 42 million people die per year because they don't have access to medical care. That is MORE than one 9/11 per month and 2 iraq wars per year combined. Our healthcare system is funadmentally broken, and this is our best shot at fixing it.

The only thing that a public option would do is let people choose to buy insurance from the government instead of private companies who would not otherwise insure them. Insurance companies serve no purpose. They do not in any way affect care they just simply pass money from one person to the other and take 1/3 off the top. How is letting people get around that infringing on their liberties?

I have read the section of the bill and all that it is saying is after a medical device has been used they will keep track of it to make sure its working properly. Oh my yes that is controversial. There is not a single reference to an RFID chip anywhere in there. I apoligize if I put it bluntly, but get over yourself. ACORN has had some problems and no one is denying that, but the point is these republicans aren't attacking it because of any failures of the organization, but because they register poor people as voters and in general poor people vote democratic. They are sacrificing the well being of their constituents to make sure they get more votes.

Instead of being so worried about frustrated republicans not being able to cope with the fact that they lost and that Barack Obama is our president, what progressives should focus on is passing healthcare reform, education reform and regulate our financial system, so that when the economy starts recovering we have a solid foundation. Call your congressman/congresswoman and senators and let them know that you support the presidents goals.
