Just in case anyone's interested and wants tp spread the news, but the BBC are playing a "lost" Janice Long session by Fiat Lux on BBC 6 Music between 4am and 5am this Saturday Morning 22nd Aug 2009. It's got an acoustic version of Secrets on it featuring great sax from the late much lamented Ian Nelson. Cheers! (or listen on i Player if you're not nocturnal!!!)
Great to see this on the web. When this track was written the web was a long way off. It sounds so basic now which is part of the charm, but it seemed to really punch along back then. "Single of the Week" in NME! It all seemed so new. And its a drum machine - shock! The B side was quite experimental too! A happy little ditty called "This Illness". 80s angst! Great memories! Thanks for putting this video together!!!
Last time I heard this was late 80's but I still have the 7" somewhere . It sounds so slight now . I never liked the use of the word brother in this song. (?)
what year did this come out and did it actually get into the main or indie charts? If I listen to this and smell Eau Sauvage aftershave its like going back in time! lol
:D What a simple & easy but so brilliant idea! I wonder how i never thought of it! So i did the same today in the morning with "Grey Flannel"(if you ask me the ultimate 80's cologne for men, i have a bottle just for special occasions, lol), watched this vid and...it works!!! Feel like the air smells different(80's) today! We are the people! Cheers! :D
Nostalgia.........I read recently that people who get nostalgic about stuff are less likely to get depressed. So keep playing songs from the past and smelling that cologne! ;)
Eve, this came out in 1982 on Bill Nelson's own Cocteau label. It went top ten in the Indie Charts for quite some time. I believe it had something like 3 re-pressings...it was quite popular. This led to the band being chased by the majors rather than them having to schlepp all round London. Polydor won, gave the band their own label,(quite a coup back then), and then proceeded to do nothing really with them. Ah Well...
WHAT A GREAT LITTLE KEYBOARD WAS THE CASIO MT 40 I LOVE THIS SONG.

Is Steve Wright now leading a fake group of Easybeats impersonators, pretending to be Stevie Wright?

It came out in 1982 and my mate had a copy and he put it on while we were playing table tennis. Sad, I know!

I wonder what would have happened if Polydor had encouraged them.........what other great songs might have been written, I wonder?
I just listened to "Love will tear us apart" by Joy Division....another song that brings back adolescent memories....... :)
