i don takweondo. i do an irish system of karate founded about 33 years ago. i am currently a 1st da black belt. y in ur system ar senior students only breakin 1 piece of wood bou 1 inch thick?? i think dats useless. for our gradings we break a min of 3 roof slates for kicks.

For 3rd gup, which this guy is graduating for, it is the first time they have ever touched a piece of "wood". No training in advance.

Seniors below this level is not supposed to break boards, but of course; you will have to break more board as you get a higher rank.

When do your students start breaking boards? And then, do they go for three the first time? Do they have experience breaking?

@ragge80 and remember its norway, we have wery hard rules when it comes to mma, and fight sports..

but really teakwondo is, 80 % kicks, and its a self defence sport, not braking wood sport ! XD, BUT U PROBBEBLY KNEW THAT

Oh thats cool i guess we have a differnt grading system because mine goes white yellow orange green blue purple- My rank- brown red red/black black

Hmm.. yeah, we only have the coulors white, yellow, green, blue, red and black. But, we have stripes between every one of them :-) White Yellow stripe Yellow Green stripe Green Blue stripe Blue Red stripe Red 3x black stripes Black (up to 9th dan) Think the grading system varies between every federation :-)
