  • Cute little airplane!

  • How much fuel does it hold? What is its max weight for take off? I am thinking of buying one, and I also was wondering where they are made.

  • next time, use the runway to take off, haha

  • That is 1 FUGLY plain.

  • The Minimax line of aircraft are the best ultra light every designed.Waye Ison spent 10 years developing this line of aircraft. The big plus is its the only ultra light kit design with an FAA approved stress analysis that I can find. That to me means millions. The dream magazines and the wally woofers who write about such aircraft never quote this information. Ison I believe sold 4000 kits and 100,s are flying. The Minimax is a very nice aircraft to fly for such a light weight.

  • what an ugly a/c

  • @gladanka Your comment instead is ugly!

  • @Physicspilot probably the most ugly aircraft ive ever seen...looks like a fucking dick flying

  • I love how it's off before the end of the displaced threshold. lol...

  • Neat plane, I might have to try flying that!

  • lol does it have air bag ?

  • Nice landing !

  • big nice airfoil

  • This airplane is put out by JDT formerly TEAM aircraft. You can fully build and fly one for under 10 grand. I am currently building one.

  • Ultralight my ass...that's an airplane!!!

  • What is the take off speed?

  • How much did that cost

  • That little plane is just cool.

  • Very nice. It looks very smooth to fly, even though it's so small.

  • helo, very good I am pilot fly by

  • Beautiful ! :))

  • I love it, its so small too.

  • very good pilot, he is maybe a pro !!!

  • why only 1/2?

  • Nice landing! Do you have to be typerated or anything?

  • perfect landed!! congrats!

  • WOW- Fantastic!! Beautiful plane, nice, quick takeoff, and a VERY smooth landing!! Would LOVE to own \ fly one of those!! Now, if we just swept the wings back a bit...

  • @microdon2 to slow for swept wings, the more swept the faster you have to go to maintain lift

  • oh and what a beautiful field (-: I love the sight of runways

  • i think i see some japs at your 3 o'clock

  • so, i guess it takes a lot of experience to pilot one of these, right?

  • @kokothemonkeyy mature design very docile, easy to fly,not made for speed or aerobatics.

  • Whats the MTOW on that plane?

  • There is no way to use a larger spar so you can get rid of the ugly wing supports?

  • @mannhorn34

Not that I'm an aircraft pro, but when I saw the wing supports, and saw how they form a triangular truss system (probably the wrong phrase for it) along with the landing gear supports, I'm thinking "that looks very sturdy, for the wings and the gear. I like that." Probably saves on overall weight, too.

  • i wanna hop in that cock pit and let you fly me around in that thing....

  • Hi,

You have two very nice MiniMax half VW aircraft, could you tell me what model this MiniMax is, and how the 1/2 VW engine is mounted? Also what do you think is a better aircraft the MiniMax or Fisher 303, for building time, 4 stroke engine options, strength, and wind capability? Also do you know of any MiniMax kits for sale or complete aircraft, I would prefer in Canada unless the owner would bring it up to Canada if I payed the fuel?

    Thank you,

    Sterling

    sterlingengines@yahoo.ca

  • @Sterlingengines the model with the canopy is the 1600. I do believe the minmax would be easier to build since the fischer has more parts in the wings. I have a friend that flies one with a stroke but would work fine with a 4 stroke. I believe both of my old minmax's are for sale , I am going to forward your message to the parties that own them now.

  • What horsepower is the engine?

  • How much does it weigh? To heavy and you be illegal.

  • this are a new engine or a really VW1600 cuted?

  • mitchell b-10 jet ultralight

  • I have a set of plans I will sell.

  • hey!! where can i get the plans to built one?????.... i want to build an airplane and this one its perfect!!!

  • You land very smoothly! Such a nice and funny plane!!!

  • very cool man!!!! smooth landing and awesome take off.......

  • very good visual approach and land smooth

  • nice take off

  • sounds like you got that engine straight out of WWII!

    engine sounds great!

  • @MrSocial78

    Funny :)

    I Also Agree.

    Have a good evening ;)

  • excelent pilot !

  • nice plane but ugly wing struts!

  • That's a good pilot!

  • That is awesome!!!

  • they are nice, but it's really only pleasant to fly those in GREAT atm. conditions... the slightest instability in the atm. throws those things around madly

  • Wow! Sure sounds great - much better than the Rotax.

    Nice flying.

  • yeah right dumb.!

  • Let's see you do better faggot.

  • QUEDAS DESTRUIDO

  • do you need a private pilots license? or just a driver license and a crash course on aviation..

  • Comment removed

  • In the UK you need a pilots license. In the US, you may need a sport pilot qualification (not sure on the details) unless it fits within the FAR pt.103 category (can't say without looking at the technical details but I think it may be too heavy). Either way it would be silly to attempt to fly any aircraft without the proper training, especially when said aircraft is a taildragger.

  • Nah, in the UK I'm pretty sure you could fly that under a NPPL microlight licence, (less training needed)

  • Yeh you definately can with fly it with an NPPL in the UK. When I said I thought it might be to heavy, I meant to heavy to fit into the FAR pt. 103 category in the states. Sorry, should have made that clearer

  • no worries, it looks like fun, i wonder how fast it goes?

  • I think about 75mph , not exactly sure but around that. It does look like a greeat little aircraft, one of our club members had one for a while, always fancied a go.

  • una mierda,mejor la cessna 182 skylane

  • Tu es en cojones!! E

  • para volar hay muchas alternativas...no solo una cessna...date una vuelta por un campo en donde se vuelen aviones ultraligeros y seguro cambiarás de opinion...sino un piloto de 747 o airbus 319 opinaría lo mismo de tu cessna...

  • from which car 1/2 vw?

  • That is one small runway. It must be for rc palnes.

  • Nope just a smaller General Aviation Airport. Runway is definatly capable of handeling pipers and cessnas.

  • nice landing

  • You think that take off was quick , check out my other video's.

    "Hummel Ultracruiser Ultralight"

  • hamburg , ny

  • how much does on of these cost couse i won 20 grand and my brother has a pilots liscence and his birthday is in may

  • On the website it says most of the planes are not much over 20thousand, but if you get an ultralight microlight airplane(not this, open cockpit), it costs like 12 thousand, so you could get 2 microlights almost xD.

  • Oh, my goodness!!! That fucking engine sounds like a Vedeneyev MP-14!!! How can that be? Regardless of all the rest, the sound makes this engine worthwhile!!!

  • Would look very cool in painted like a ww2 Hellcat or Warhawk

  • It takes off in about 100 ft., sounds and flys nice.

  • LOL it needs more distance to land than it does to take off CUTE PLANE

  • nice little plane, would love to fly it

  • what do you mean no pilots liscence? do u need a drivers liscence? did you build it? thanks

  • If it was actually a 103 complient ultralight you don't even need a driver's license.... but I think this plane is well over the 254lb limit...which will make it at least a light-sport aircraft.

  • Wow where did you get the plans to build that plane? That was cool!

  • Just type in "JDT Mini-Max" in Google. Easy enough to find.

  • How do you learn to fly ultralights? Most are one seaters and can not seat trainer and new pilot.

  • I have 2 hours in a two-place quicksilver ultralight.

  • I meant "had"

  • There are 2 seaters that are for instructional training only, under 103 a ultralight can only be 1 seat-except for authorized trainers.

  • @Bassplayingboy ther are a lot of two seaters in those you will learn to fly them and when you have your pilot licence than you will be able to fly a one seater.

(because your comment is two jears old I think you know this by now, but I thought lets just answer it.

  • Do you need a pilot license to fly that plane?

  • No license required

  • You do need a license to fly this plane. It well exceeds the ultralight class and requires a sport pilot license.

  • what type of vw is it? from the first volkswagen car?

  • Now THAT is cool, so simple, and i bet it's quite simple to fly and costs barley anything.

  • I want one, where did you get it?

  • you just go doun to walmart of target and look in the planes section

  • Im not asking u dumb ass

  • Well Done Plane. Good Pilot!

  • paint gun on each wing

  • Funny little airplane :) Nice landing!

  • A full VW would be too heavy and to much horsepower for an ultralight.

  • i bought a 64' 1200cc one. it weights about 50kg...if i leave it single carb and no turbocharger, will it be gd or not?

  • The whole point here is to have 4-stroke economy and reliablility and be legal. I sure don't know if this plane meets the 254 lb limit.. many don't.. but they use 1/2 VWs because they are limited to 62 mph also. Can't have a big engine cuz of weight and speed. The 1/2 VW engine generally consumes around 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 gal/hour. The 2-stroke alternatives consume about 3-5 gal/hour. This limits range and time in the air. Overhauls come up 4-5 times as fast on the 2-strokes.

  • can somebody tell me why they use half vw and not the 4 cylinders????

  • well couple things , weight and better fuel econ. these smaller craft need a lighter engine

  • that looks kinda like a tiny F6F Hellcat. and should be paint as one.

  • yeah do it!! now!

  • Wow..That is something else..I would love to be able to build myself an ultralite.

  • sweet paint it camo with the ww2 shark mouth put 1 beebee gun on it and scare the neighbors

  • cuanto dinero cuesta un aparato así??

  • i could take off in my driveway! awesome! could you mount airsoft guns on that?

  • haha

and have a bomb bay full of paint grenades or eggs to drop on the neighbors

  • that looks so cool

  • almost too unreal

  • sweet flight

    nice!

  • great landing

  • Since this is a single seat kit build, how would one go about looking for instruction for this kind of plane?

  • That thing is so small!

    That's awesome.

  • smooth pilot

  • Best to have!!

  • high speed pass! lol. looks fun!

  • TEAM mini Max make s some great ultralights- strong, excellent flyers, reliable.... simply, great aircraft. (and safe)

  • !

Please tell me how much a kit of one of these is! I gotta get that! It looks so much like the Piper PA28 I fly. Except taildragger...

  • I don't think its ugly. Come on over and fly it at the Dry lake near Las Vegas NV with us RC flyers. Think you can keep up with my spitfire gas RC plane lol. Nice video!

  • Great Plane -Very good pilot--Super Landing

  • Oh that is cool! Add a couple of dummy guns on it... too much fun!

  • F4F with struts

  • That is a great advert for the Minimax, a really nice little vidio. Hey and one sweet landing.

  • Very nice landing and good control with that tail up. I would be going of runway in mine..I guess beauty is in eye of the beholder, I think they look good for a wood structure airplane.

  • i agree with u maverick5016

  • ugly little thing.

  • Sounds like a flying lawnmower lol!

  • Super, ale w polsce to jest niedozwolone bo mamy rzad PIS. Szkoda!

  • pretty good pilot!!!

  • Minimax + 1/2VW looks and sounds great.

How powerful is your 1/2VW? 30hp or 37hp?

Is there a mailing list for minimax/himax line of aircraft?

  • muy bueno !!

  • OUTSTANDING camera work, especially for a handheld shoot.

  • Great video- great plane. I agree with everyone else; that landing was sweet.

  • Is this a one of a kind, or are there plans avaliable? I really like the design. This surely doesnt weigh under 254lbs does it (to be a legal ultralight). I'm also confused as to the advantages of a half vw engine, surely the minor weight savings of knocking off 2 jugs doesnt make for anything after loseing half your power.

  • Minimax has been around for ages, and is part 103 legal. There are many adaptations on the design. Half VW = 30+ hp, and is a 4 stroke with cheap over the counter parts.

  • That's a sweet minimax.

    Yep, great landing.

  • grease job on the landing!
