Couric did not force Palin to present herself as one-dimensional, Palin did that all on her own by not preparing for the interview and lacking the basic knowledge reqiured for a discussion on foreign policy and government. instead of taking responsiblity for the lousy interview, Palin blamed Couric and acted like she was a victim. Three years later and Palin is still taking digs at Couric, which further proves Palin continues to be a one dimensional moron!

@flatlander1007 - What's really ironic, is within the hour that Senator McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, the DNC sent teams of reporters and investigative journalists (I use the term loosely), to Alaska to do nothing more than dig up as much dirt about her as possible. In the end, they found nothing. So finding nothing, the attacks began. Her newborn special needs son, was vilified, her daughters were called whores. Couric knew what she was reading. Please.

@NAGGERNUTZ If by "nailed her own coffin shut", you mean signed a multi million dollar deal with ABC television to host her own syndicated talk show, then Couric certainly nailed it. She'll be making a lot more money than Palin is making at Fox news, but then Couric totally deserves it. After Palin gave that horrible interview, Couric actually spoke very kindly about Palin and even defended her pathetic appearance. Couric's a true professional, unlike Palin, who is a joke and has no class!

@hotram1 - Katie Couric was "asked" to step down. In layman's terms... she was fired. Major network news organizations don't fire an anchor or ask them to step down if the ratings are there. Couric was a hack news anchor just like Olbermann. Ask Katie Couric where she'd rather be and I guarantee it won't be her multimillion dollar contract with ABC.

@NAGGERNUTZ Katie Couric was not "asked" to step down, Couric had a 5 year contract to anchor the CBS news, her job was only guarunteed for those 5 years! She fullfilled the terms of her contract in it's entirity so her term of employment was complete! She could NOT be fired, she was no longer under contract. In layman's terms...you're a moron! You need to stop pulling information out of your ass and research the facts before you comment. You really look foolish!

Contract negations are not simply based on ratings. Couric won several major awards during her 5 years at CBS news, the network never reported that Couric was asked to leave or that she was fired.
