    man, those vortexes...

  • @lucasguillen It's the result of breaking the sound barrier (Mach 1 or Mach 1.1 at high temperatures I think) and I BELIEVE (don't quote me on this) it's something to do with condensed water vapour at such a high speed, but it's funny to note that in the cockpit you don't see anything, it's only from a distance you see the "white halo" (as it's affectionately known) :D

  • @petacavanagh Good point, but with all due respect, your affirmation is wrong.. to some point

that is not the effect of breaking the sound barrier, but that is indeed, the effect of water vapour at such a a high speed, it doesn't need to be past the speed of sound, you just need the right conditions, in this case, high speed + high G(Or high AoA for that speed, can't recall correctly)

something similar might happen when an aircraft breaks the speed of sound, with no change in G or AoA whatsoever

  • @petacavanagh Apologies for any mistake, cheers!

  • @lucasguillen Aha no problem, when I first saw it I was like "WHOAA HE JUST RIPPED A HOLE IN TIME" lol

  • Eurofighter vs. Rafale

The first debate bigger than Gloster Javelin vs. Sea Vixen

  • Gutted I missed this show, superb filming as per usual guys. Ross

  • wouldnt wana be in the Lybian military right now...

  • you really can fucking feel that after burner if your standing on the beach

  • i love this jet, but it is bad that in battlefield 2 he is a piece of crap^^

  • dauntless111 you are the perfect example of a great idiot. A AMI pilot.

  • That thing is freaking awesome

  • The roll rate of the Typhoon is exceptional and therefore it's change in direction is incredible. More power to weight than the F-22 the Typhoon has phenomenal acceleration.. Beautiful aeroplane!

  • sounds good at low frequencies and ¿what microphone is used for this video?.

  • @adr712 A pair of dynamic mics, probably our trusty AKG D190Es from memory

  • the basic concept comes from germany with its TKF-90, but britain pushed it to reality with the EAP

  • @midgetman2142 i never knew about tkf-90 thanks! only the eap

  • German plane?? Wasn't it developed from a British technology demonstrator?

  • german engeneering!!!

  • @FreakdasViech Ahh!! so its a German Plane, Is it ?

  • @tyhplas every modern military technology bases on German WWII stuff so shut up^^

  • @therealbamlee Yes! whatever you say, LOL

  • @FreakdasViech

    :) so ignorant.

  • @iJaydan und ich fühl mich gut dabei ;o)

  • @FreakdasViech

You should its the only thing you have to feel good about.

  • It is very impressive aircraft, strong and flexible and her voice is very wonderful I love the most excitement this aircraft TYPHOON

  • It is very impressive aircraft, strong and flexible and her voice is very wonderful I love the most excitement this aircraft TYPHOON

  • This plane is awesome i see it every year at airbourne and i never get tired of it and the noise it makes always excites me. This has got to be the world's sexiest plane xD

  • @HAWX234 You didnt mention Germany. Germany took a major part in developing the Eurofighter.

  • @revan292 yea, and spain/italy

  • @HAWX234 You didnt mention Germany. Germany took a major part in developing the Eurofighter.

  • All airshows should be held over the water just for the vapour alone , it looks awesome...

  • @a8127 has nothing to do with the sea, and NO, sea airshow=no close takeoff

  • @reindenaab Has lots to do with the sea , over land you need moisture to get vapour which generally means cloud (not an airshow fav)... Over the sea there is moisture ALL the time even with NO cloud.... I can name 1000's of airports by the sea around the globe , so you would still get to see takeoffs aswell

  • fucking!! fast!!!!

  • no sonic boom?

  • Eurofighter is a Made in Germany?!

  • @Duisburger9911 Eurofighter is Made in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain...

  • @Nemesis816 teile kommen aus ganz europa und der welt wie bei allen EADS fliegern, die Endmontage des Eurofighter ist in Manching (bei Ingolstadt)

  • @Duisburger9911 England italy and spain thats why its called the EUROfighter

  • @HAWX234 yea thanks!

  • 0:50 you can actually see the pilots equipment and that green targeting screen he has infront of the cockpit, fantastic!

  • oh wow!!! 0:38, those pilot's know how to fly!!!

  • Though i'm biased and American and love me that F-22, that Eurofighter isn't exactly a joke either in capable hands

  • @LOLitsJono im from the uk and agree the F22 is the best plane ever but we aint got the dollars for it

  • @bmwnasher the F22 is fast but it lacks the ability of moving and maneuvering

  • @Nemesis816 -"the F22 is fast but it lacks the ability of moving and maneuvering"

Just in case this WASN'T a sloppy bit of sarcasm:

    watch?v=k0CPPlFk4Yo

(*STILL* waiting to see a vid of the EF pulling similar FAST/HARD turns.)

  • @29Gixxer Well russian ONLY has better tech than us as of now because they cant stand being inferior to the US like they were until the 80s.The F-22 has very good tech to it same with the EF,they both shit kick any russian plane you throw at it.

  • @1bearcatf8f

Your comment sounds so stupid, Russia has probs the lowest amount of technology for one of the major countries of the world. Seen that they still use tanks and aircraft from 1990 and 80's. They might have a huge army but the british army though only 500,000 men is one of the best in the world because they train nearly everyday and have superior technology, i would even go as far as saying that the only army that could beat them would be the chinese, America has lost

  • @em745aa

...well thanks for this link. finally a vid where you can see the "high speed" maneuverability of the f22...noramlly you only find those "low speed maneuvers" where the f22 benefits of it's thurst vector sys. but we wont judge jets from videos?! The fact the US wont sell the f22 to onther countrys (with the actual economical situation) convinces me more of the f22's abilitys. I think it's too expensive...less than 200 f22? I see it comin, f22's outnumberd, need to land and reammo ;)

  • F22 is much better

  • @95predator in your dreams

  • @undercoverharry115 well in other tests F22 won. We germans and britisch simply should build an anti aircraft stealh bombert with 100 tons payload with intercontinental radar and AA missiles

  • Em745aa yep your right. Sorry I was a bit squiffy when I wrote that. :P

  • the jet did not go supersonic. that 'fog' people talk about is called prandtl glauert singularity, its a vapor cone which appears when there is a sudden drop in air pressure at the nose or rear of the jet. it has nothing to do with traveling with or past the speed of sound

  • Not at any point in this video did the aircraft break the sound barrier, when you see it have a kinda fog it's compressing air in those parts and the air has water in it. The air is forced close and beceause it has water in it it condensises and the moclicules are forced together and it makes a cloud simples.

  • @gazthefunky39 -"when you see it have a kinda fog it's compressing air in those parts and the air has water in it."

Actually, the opposite happens. The "fog" appears in areas of LOW pressure, where the air dilates. Compressing air HEATS UP, dilating air cools down, and in this case, it cools down below the air's dew point. THAT's why the "fog" appears during hard turns.

  • I think we in europe should be proud of this aircraft,it is a superb fighter and as usual it has it's critics but an aircraft is only as good as the pilots who fly it and ours in the RAF are among the best in the world no question.

  • can someone explain to me what are the cause of the condensation around the planes please?

  • It's because the plane is breaking the sound barrier, when things move fast, air piles up in front of them, the air can't move quickly enough to flow out of the way and it's kinda "pushed" away. So the sonic boom you see is the pressurised air. Hope that helped ( :

  • Want to be a pilot in future, but it's so competetive! I've got the grades; still working up the nerve to go for it.

  • if you're going to rain hell upon someone, that's the thing to do it in

  • I will be flying in one of them soon! Nearly into the first squadren!

  • @A7XCellumATR hope your flying is better than your spelling!

  • the EF looks so stunningly beautiful i could fuck it

  • Comment removed

  • Already done.

  • @dauntless111 that and build more Vulcan bombers, the sound of them along would make them run away, shame most of our 259 eurofighters are in Afghanistan.

  • @dauntless111 Lol!

  • @dauntless111 Pretty sure they have Eurofighters too, no?

  • beautiful - esspecialy so when the vapour cloud surrounds it in the harsh turns.

  • canards spoil it though.

  • The Typhoon looks extremely maneuverable, like the rafale and Su-35/30Mk3, the question is, all this performance is necessary when fighting beyond visual range, stealth?

My own top5 on air superiority

    F22 100%

    EFT 90%

    Raf 83%

    Su30 64% (two seats)

    Su35 60%

  • -"is all this performance necessary when fighting beyond visual range, stealth?"

The EF consortium, Dassault and the USAF sure seem to think so.

Point being, even if 90% of kills are made BVR, you want your platform to excel and beat the opponent should the fight wander in that other 10% (WVR).

  • The question is: will the stealth technology and BVR-weapons work also work in 20 years? I wouldn't bet on it. There are radar technologies today which can detect older stealth planes like F-117 and B-2 (in theory so far). And the scientists will go on with their work and they will be succesful...

An airplane has to be very maneuverable, by the way. What if you got an AA-11 or a SAM on your tail? ;-)

  • @TheBigTittyTwister That's correct, even if your plane has alot of stealthy abillities (which even helps in WVR fights), you still need maneurverability. One of the reasons why the USAF put thrust vectoring into the F22.

  • errrrr... guys! This is a video of a Typhoon! I don't see anything about WW2, Nazi's, americans, iraq, afganistan! JUST CHILL and stop BITCHING!!!

  • Awesome Aircraft! The vertikal RoC is just amazing...

  • Am I seriously reading a comment from a German about USA better at making war?

Do we need to have a history lesson?

  • that's always the same story

so you serieously think you are allowed to make ware because of what the germans did 60 years ago??!?!!

if all the americans think like that i understand why you ellected bush 2 times....the rest of the world thought the americans were all mentally disabled but now i know the reason....

when a german critizises war racism or genocide everybody does as if he would be one of the SS or wehrmacht

i think you have never ben to germany and you don't know many germmans

  • Hi, I think you should purge the fallacious logic and false pretenses you use on me.

Did I say USA is allowed to make war..because Germany did 60 years ago of all things? And what war? Iraq? This is (I think) the only war the USA has started in the past century.

    I am part German.

If you generalize all American citizens then you are the one who is mentally disabled my friend.

  • you generalized all the german ciziens and not only the ones who live now but everybody who lived from 1900 to now by saying you wouldnt read my comment because of somethink somebody else did in an other cenutry....by the way it was an attack on my personality and i may overreacted sorry

refearing to your comment:american bombs fell on much more civilists than only iraq civilists...war was never made in america always go to the other's villages and families...but war has to be made somewhere....

  • How did I generalize Germans? and why would I? You know German is the largest ancestry of Americans? (me included)

US might be involved in military conflicts a lot but we usually never start it. Iraq is an exception. That war is stupid.

  • and i think you read the comment at all

  • lol owned

  • Oh did we forget to talk about the fact there are only going to be 187 F-22's made? There are over 125 of them right now.

How many EF Typhoons does UK have? 40? lol!

  • UK will has confirmed order of 160 Typhoons.

I don't even care our country doesn't need 700 Raptors lol we already dominate the air.

EF is not crap it's probably the 2nd best fighter in service in the world now.

  • Yea Rafale probably is better at strike it's got some sophisticated avionics and weapon and apparently it's much stealthier than EF. I think people underestimate Rafale it's a solid plane.

  • Good job, I'm sure you feel better about yourself now.

Obviously you're upset that I may have gotten the number of typhoons your country has wrong, which makes it all the more ironic that you should come here talking about compensating for little dicks. fuck off idiot. lol,

  • LAME..ive seen better turns from a F22 n SU3OMKI,SU35 n MIG35,EF is going the way of the TORNADO,european jets should not be name after natural disasters, typhoon n tornado, typhoon n tornado jets are more like fresh air n seabreeze jets,no1 aint scared of it,china n russia are developing stealth jets to match f22,ef on other hand, they probly laugh at it saying dont bring a baby to big boy fight eh.

  • u.s jets fought far weaker jets,LOL,u.s jets av splash 4 mig29 (the f15 killer say the russians) in yugoslavia n in the 1st gulf war it also shot down another 5 more mig29,tornado never shot down anything, other half o u.s jets success were by israeli,u.s trained israeli faced russian trained syrians n who came out on top,its the israeli armed wit u.s jets, yanks also splash other russian jets like mig25,mig23,mig21,su25 n su22,dont say those are old, actually f15,16 n 18 are old too.

  • man, whats up wit the brits hating on u.s jets,is it jealousy that there lousy tornado n ef wasnt a big success like the f15,they yap saying u.s jets fight weak opponents,LMAO,so the russian trained syrian pilots that face israel are weak, the iraqi pilots that were iraq-iran war av more combat experience than usaf pilots they face in 1st gulf war, still the u.s ended raping them,so yeah, but let me tell you this, name any european modern jet that can match f15 air to air combat record,tornado..haha.

  • An excellent demonstration of its amazing maneuverability at last! Now you can see why they dumped the thrust vectoring - they just don't need any - and that's exactly what the EF consortium told as the reason.

  • @dj8work

TVC has officially been dumped and won't come with T3.

The primary use of TVC is for maneuvering. But you could also save a bit fuel if you use TVC for trimming (lowering induced drag) and you can shorten starting and landing distances, which has been tested with a recommissioned X-31 a while ago.

TVC itself doesn't make your plane cruise fast or raises your top speed.

  • In the case of the EJ200 engine a TVC upgrade would have come together with a power upgrade, that's why the Typhoon would have been faster with it - that's all.

  • great aircraft, great video! 5*****************

  • Great sound! I'm listening to this with my bass booster big beefy headphones and it feels like I'm at the RIAT or something... v good. Stereo too!

  • I love her...

  • Amazing aircraft... I watched it today at LAVEX 2009...The Italians were fantastic... We posed for a nice picture afterwards.. woo lol

  • The Vapour Over The Wings Is Sweet.

  • I saw the Typhoon this year in Portrush, N.I

    That was a good show.

  • I really enjoyed the show this year, the evening display was a nice addition.

  • Great display, but the airshow seems to be getting worse and worse. Aircraft participation is basically F16, reds, hawk and EF.

  • 0:26 WOW

  • what is the water vapor that forms on the wings called???

  • It's called water vapour. Congratulations, you answered your own question :D

  • It's condensation due to low pressure transonic or supersonic flow over the body plus the accompanying temperature drop of the air flow.

The plane itself is moving at subsonic speed, of course. Displays aren't allowed to be flown at supersonic speed. But the air flow can reach supersonic speeds locally. And that's where this phenomenon becomes visible. Sometimes you can also hear a small "sonic boom" due to local supersonic flows that you can only hear if you're pretty near to the plane.

  • whats better in dog fight eurofighter or f-16 ?

  • whats better eurofighter or f-16 with high block ?

  • hoy lo e visto! xD y el sonido es atronador!

  • nice video! plenty of vapor in HD!

  • That aircraft is extremely beautiful and although the display was good, it appears to fly effortlessly through the sky.

    Good filming too!

  • 1 more day of air show loved Vulcan today it rocks

  • It's the large air pressure differentiations over the wing that cause the moisture in the air to dissipate into visible vapour.

  • What?? Do you really think a jet performing a show in front of thousands of spectators at that altitude is going > Mach 1?

  • it comes from the wings producing lift. the lower pressure on top (which causes the wing to rise) also causes water to condense. do you really think that a 747 could pass the sound barrier.... then sometimes can you see condensation on it's wings at take off?

  • It's local transonic or supersonic flow. The plane itself is moving at subsonic speed.

  • Such a cool looking plane

  • whats that fog (or whatever) called?

does it have a technical name?

  • jetstream

  • its just walter vaper comming of the wings

  • vapour

  • Oh, lovely video too old boy!

  • ...or use your when you should use you're of course! DOH!

  • To imply a nations pilots are better than anothers is stupid. To suggest a nations tactics, principals and approach are better has merits, but when it comes down to it, when all hell breaks loose it comes down to an individuals skill compared to the other guy and this has little to do with where they were born. Surely history has proven this since men (and women) went to war in aircraft. Until you put them in the same aircraft you cant say who is best, well unless your a fool on the web..

  • Superb filming as per usual Iain, really wanted to make eastbourne, but had my Credit card cloned & lost £640! Looks like a great time, weather as well....mighht have to buy the DVD from you guys then ;) Ross

  • Except Chuck Norris

  • f-22 and f-35......is the best in the world.....

  • many people say UK pilots are the best in the world?.....i dont this all UK pilots are batter then U.S pilots....we train hard to..the pilots that fly the f-22 are the best we have...and are some of the best in the world...

  • geez bud, sober up or learn some grammar will ya.....

  • Yep indeed

  • But my dad's bigger than your dad.... so there!

  • i havent seen my dad in 12 years so i cant comment on that :P

  • yep, but typhoon isn`t uk`s, it`s project of uk, germany, italy and spain...

  • That's why it's also called Eurofighter :)

  • This has to be one of the most beautiful jets out there at the moment.

I think it's better eye candy than the F22 but that's just my opinion.

Hopefully EF T3 will be even better. At least now we have a world class jet and can put that joke of the Tornado behind us.

The envious comments on some threads are quite funny too :0

  • The Tornado is far from being a Joke. It's a top bomber that has fulfilled its missions very successfully. It's old now but I still love the Tornado.
