Kim, thank you for sharing your experience at the Festival of Lights. It was such a joyous and warm experience to hear you speak so eloquently. I love Dylan Thomas by the way one of my favorite poets and master wordsmith. You're a very attractive woman, are you single? LOL
excellent , when your shadow becoms taller than your soul, like liquid dreams they permeate into the isness of your mind colouring the now with a new expression of an old sigh, what shades we are what shadows we persue,...... recieve a free hug from me ?
There's a book written a long time ago which I think you should read. It was recommended reading for the Harvard Medical students when it came out. The book is called, "An Anatomy of an Illness" by Norman Cousins. It's a great book and I have recommended this to a lot of people. Norman Cousins was the editor of the Saturday Review and he talks about his illness after he traveled to the Soviet Union for President Nixon.
He was subsequently invited by the school to give the commencement address. He was then invited by Stanford as well. I recommended this book to a cancer patient and his daughter flew to Florida to personally thank me for recommending that book to her dad. She told me that after he read that book his life changed for the good.
Needles to say it was one of my greatest moments , knowing that I helped a family and this man enjoy there finest year together. The strangest thing was I didn't know who she was but she ran up to me and kissed me and hugged me for the longest time and could never stop thanking me. I was caught off guard but then she explained. She made my day and still does. I don't think I could ever recall someone flying from NYC to give me a hug and a kiss.
It's wonderful for them to offer a place for people to let out some of their sadness and it's amazing how it can affect those who share in it. Wonderful poem, too.
beautiful.

Lovely! Thank you. It is good to be reminded of people and feelings instead of just the glitter and tinsel.

That tradition sounds like a beautiful opportunity for catharsis.
