@awesomevids777 brushed! u can buy it brushless but that's an extra 199$ and if u get it brushed when u are tired of brushed(with a 7 cell battery brushed will do 40) u can get a brushless motor for 120$ so it is cheaper the xl-5 is 189 99$ so if u buy the brushed and just upgrade it later u save 100$!

@madbeastification the stampede rocks at wheelies fully charged battery and you can pop a wheelie without backing up after it dies a little you have to back up and go forward but yes it can pop wheelies and is an awesome truck all round.

okay i need herlp i bought a traxxas stampede xl5 the other day and i went out to drive it and it worked untill bout half battery and i took inside and the motor starts smoking and burning somthing but idk what to do should i take it to a hobby store and see if they can figure out whats wrong i seen that comment that the guy has a problem with his motor burning up is this the same problem? @Scooterfreak321 wat happens is my brother had the same problem you have to only go at have throttle and no reverse when you first drive it a couple of times to break in the motor and you wont get the half battery or burning smell hope this helps.

Mine has been doing the same thing the stock motor just died so i used anoth older dynamite motor and geared it accordingly and it caught fire so after cooling it off i pulled it and put in a new Traxxas 12 t titan and again fire... Could it maybe be the battery at this point? the batt. get VERY VERY hot! any ideas?

@alexrocks3193 your motor is probably fried but no worry you can buy a new one for like 20 dollars and there easy to install

@alexrocks3193 you should get a brushless motor. They dont heat up as much, and certainly dont burn out. The other option is to change the pinion gear size. But get a new motor all together

@alexrocks3193 You burnt out the motor. Call traxxas they should send you a new motor. Tell them you just bought it about a week ago the motor burnt out. Say can you send me a new motor and pinon. They should send it. Take it to a big parking lot once you get the motor do about 3/4 throttle and do figure 8s without breaking will break it in. Do that with 2 batterys and you should be good. Your problem was most likely you were going to hard. You didnt let off the throttle. Good luck.

@alexrocks3193 that has happened to me a couple times.did you go in reverse and hit the gas real quick to do a wheelie? that's what i did lol. just buy a new motor and get the hobby store to install it for you. The labor charge is a little expensive but it's worth it. Hope that helped and good luck!!!

@8thkill I have the same stampede, not waterproofed which is the little older version. Ya the stampede can do wheelies but there hhas to be a lot of traction and it depends on the type of battery you have.

I clocked mine with a GPS today with a max speed of 25.6 Mph, i probably could've gone faster but this was only a 9 minute run with the stock motor. The only way i can get it to do wheelies is by backing it up and flooring it....

This model is the brushed version. They are truly good cars. It is waterproof, and I've driven it through three inch water when it rained and it ran fine. The only thing is that when you drive through puddles, the water gets into the tire and the foam soaks it up and makes the truck twice as heavy. This was a great truck before I converted mine into a slash:)

I had 1 just like tht but for some reason it wasnt waterproof. So I converted it to a VXL. Everything but the serov isnt waterproof and it still works evn tho i drov it through mud and a bunch of snow. But the servo isnt made by Traxxas. Maybe thts y its not blue.

dude 2 things, 1 although yes it is water proof dont go thruogh snow with it. i ceroded my engine, and the foam in my tires soaked up water and me driving on them killed my engine, which leads to number 2, #2 get a trinity chameleon 2 engine
