So much up what they said about those days weren't true. On TV sit coms in the 50s the women tended to be the dominate ones and the men tended to be stupid.
Elizabeth calls Alvin "Hurricane Hazel" when she sees the disorder in the kitchen, which is the name of an actual hurricane which hit the USA in 1954 and got a lot of publicity for destruction.
@hebneh yes, and i've also heard that one mentioned by julie andrews in a tv concert special.
she said once at the start of rehearsals for her first broadway show, the boyfriend, the weather was really bad, she couldn't get a cab, and got to the theater late. She rushes in, finds the theater empty, and says "where is everybody?
the door man say "they all stayed home miss, that's hurricane hazel out there"!
@TudorRose85 Of course it hasn't. Voices are similar to fingerprints, they remain the same with most people and thus it's the first thing I notice when I recognize an actor or actress I know from some other show or movie. There is the occasional vocal fluctuation, but those are usually only actors when they get deeper voices or due to voice box damage from smoking and anyone can damage their voice box by smoke of any kind.
I remember as a kid watching this and being happy for hours after. I wanted to be like her and laugh my way through life! Thanks for posting this old series. I never thought I would see "Elizabeth" again.
Amazing....I just love to see the original TV shows, and then you realize today shows are not really original- Jack and Betty look so natural. " You've gpt brains, and it's the little things that count"----- Love it!
Wow she was 32 in this clip...

@onliner10000 She's probably the only one left alive from the entire shows cast and production team.

The humor in this is surprising progressive for the 1950s.

Just as funny as I Love Lucy, only Alvin didn't talk down to Elizabeth like Ricky did to Lucy.

I've never seen or heard of this before. Betty is so great.

I'm kind of surprised that they allowed Betty's character too be so feisty as a woman back then...and he didn't even make sexist statements.

@RainbowBrite80. I think it was because it was a local show from L.A. instead of a national show.

@RainbowBrite80 Betty co-created the show. She could be whoever she wanted to be.

I remember this show very well...
I believe that it was a half an hour show, but with two approx. 15 minute spots..
Around the same time as I MARRIED JOAN and other classic comedies..
km2711 2 years ago
Actually the show was divided into three 8 to 10 minute pieces :-)
