I have been a fan of Ian Anderson and Tull since the late 60's, and I can see why some people may not appreciate this specific orchestration. But I would encourage you to listen to the version the whole band recorded with The London Symphony Orchestra. (There are a few postings on YouTube) I have all the Tull albums and that ranks among my favourites!
@TheFrickinPope: If you haven't bought the album yet, check out the one they did with the London Symphony. I think perhaps the reason people don't like this version is because Anderson changed the tempo. With the London Symphony the band stayed "true" to the original.
I'm a JT fan since always and i do not agree with the ones rejecting the Orchestral versions. Depends on the song, depends on your taste but I was gladly surprised to hear something different and richer with sounds instruments i couldn't imagine.
At the end of the day, today you can find that some of the old songs JT performance are not as good as they used to be in the past when Ian has a much better voice.
Luckily I checked these videos before paying almost 60e for similar concert. I thought orchestra would work pretty well with JT songs, but it seems to be just as bad as it was with Metallica and Kiss.
Florian Opahle is awesome, I hope he does something on his own someday. Of course Ian is also a genius, but no need to mention it, this fact is already official.
amazing! i would never think that Aqualung could become such a beautiful orchestral piece. The flute part is so beautiful and the oboe solos are quite nice. I play both oboe and flute so its great to be able to hear them both!
this song is great with all the orchestral peices

Outstanding orchestration.
The original 70's version was fun but this is a much higher level of musical performance. Daniel - South Florida

@Nordis
Well, freedom in music taste is a brilliant idea, otherwise music will be boring to many!
And obviously I like too much orchestral adaptation of many pop or rock music.
