I know I commented on another video about this but I "got to thinking" lol , anyhow, I was wondering if you would do a "What's that Spice" type segment, similiar to the cheese, I went back to my spice rack to find not only is it the mustard seeds that I have no idea what to do with, but it is bay leaves, coriander, caraway seeds, majoram.
Love focaccia :) Great episode! Looked delicious! Never made it though. Also I was wondering if you've ever had stuffed grape leaves? I think it'd be an interesting topic! I love them! haha
Focaccia has been and will probably always will be my favorite type of bread. I find it to be the BEST sandwich bread, just cut in half and yumyum (funny thing i typed this before you said it in video and then I said to laugh). Another reason its still my favorite is because I don't have a working oven so I have to use a toaster oven. It sucks for making tall bread but focaccia and flat bread, oh yeah :D
but the one my baker make look way different he roll a spiral of dought whit herbs big piece of black olive, green olives and virgin olive oil, the dought look more flaky and spongy almost like a croisant and outside its crunchy like a pastry, im guessing its a different kind of focaccia.. delicious
I have found that focaccia to be too bready for most sandwiches, but there are some where it can be terrific. Did you use Active Dry Yeast or Instant Yeast for your dough? Also, I have found pizza dough to be a fine substitute for making focaccia. I have a place near my home that sells their killer dough for cheap ($1/1lb.) and makes some really tasty focaccia. I'll bake mine to about 95% then sprinkle mizithra cheese, maldon salt and bake it until the cheese is melted. Yum.
I really want to try this at some point. What changes should I make/what should I be aware of if I choose to use whole wheat flour as opposed to white flour?
Hmm that focaccia sandwich looks good! The only bread I've made so far is french bread, but I may give this a go :)

Question: Aren't you supposed to activate the yeast with water first?
eskimolipss 10 months ago
@eskimolipss You can - but you don't HAVE to - I didn't in this recipe and it was just fine. :)
