I am a guy, and from my point of view I do sympathize with Cal a bit. I mean, how would you feel if your girl cheated on you with some poor-ass porno sketcher. And besides, it's not Cal's fault he is filthy rich.
It doesn't give Cal the right to slap and try to shoot Rose, but we must admit that in reality Rose was a bit of a dirty slut.
Nothing wrong with Jack either though lol, just a guy trying to get some action ;)
despite his change in attitude I liked him on a one-sided...but i wish Cal had a different personality in this movie. it wouldve made him more likeable...T^T but we fangirls cannot deny he is HOT!
I feel kinda sorry for Cal too, he shoulda get a girl that was better than Rose, i mean if she was a stupid, blonde, easy going and a younger girl in the first class, he would be happier for sure, thats my point of view :)
Caledon "loved" Rose like a man loves his Ferrari. She was just another collectible which wealth could purchase. On the other hand, Rose was coming to the realization that she really did not love Cal and began to see what he really was, a bully and extremely selfish individual (Great acting by Billy Zane, by the way). Didn't it take far more courage and honesty for Rose to walk away from a bad marriage which would have been like winning the lottery for her?
"Gentlemen may prefer blondes, but it takes a real man to handle a redhead." Cal ended being too much of a "gentleman" to handle Rose. So she ran to a "real man."
@tieuyeunu123 Rose was engaged against her will. Now I feel some sympathy for Calvin, but he should have said: "Hell with this charity marriage. She doesn't love me, but I'm worth millions and I can do better." And let's not forget that Jack died because he TRIED TO SAVE ROSE. Calvin left her. And if you like Calvin and feel sorry for him, why would you wish him in a charity marriage with a woman who didn't love him?

But if you love Calvin and feel sorry for him, why would you wish him in a 'charity marriage' with a woman who didn't love him? I'll even go as far as to say that Calvin was charmng at first. But a forced marriage would hurt anyone. Calvin's biggest fault is that he can't say to himself: "I'm worth millions. Hell with this charity marruiage. I can do better."

I loved him the first time i saw this in the cinemas and everytime after i watched this on dvd.
i wished she stuck to her gun and went through with the marriage. she is an engaged woman. Jack would've died with or without meeting her anyway.
