  • The recent 'Frozen Synapse' was made with Torque. I love this game.

  • Wow the buildings look better than the terrain.

  • is this the latest graphic options for play station???

i dont get it what this is.. looks like my 10 year old ps graphics

  • lame music

  • despite how awesome this engine looks, I'm gonna stick with FPSC until I finish my game, then I'll learn some C++ and hopefully join the torque fanbase

  • is Torque easyer than Unity??

  • this engine sucks Unreal Engine or Unity 3D are better and there free has more tools and features

  • Want a much better game engine? Look up the unity3d or the unreal engine.

    Both are free. :)

  • Torque is trash... this iz better abyssalengine. com

  • *Mute*

  • I wanna play your MMORPG. :o

  • Music Selection (if you decide music is necessary) for a video is crucial. I think your selection of "Dirty Little Secret" is excellent. Great song. It reminds me of the time I stopped watching a Youtube video 1 minute into a 5:40 video, because the song was so irritating and I couldn't concentrate on the subject matter.

    Music selection is crucial.

  • @mrhampants you know... u can just mute it. it his video. his choice of music not yours.

  • HAHAHAHA YOURE SO AWESOME NO LIE BRO THIS IS COMMENT OF THE YEAR!

    So cool....

  • Whats the new 1 then?

  • I'd like to point out that this engine was made aaages ago, they long since updated their engine, replaced it with a new one, which looks a lot better.

Having said that, torque model formats ae aggravating. Having their own specially designed .dts format just makes things awkward.

  • Good thing Torque 3D supports COLLADA importing, in addition to DTS. This means you can load any COLLADA model exported from Max or Maya directly into Torque 3D.

Asset pipeline got a lot better.

  • Ah, now there's progress.

You know, the thing I think II like most about the new torque engines is the massive terrain editor. Pretty small addition in comparison to some of the stuff they have, sure, but something about being able to build large worlds, and not being restricted to one tile, is a great thing in my mind.

That said I don't even have the recent titles, I just watch the updates every now and then.

  • If you like terrain editing from the older engines, you would love Torque 3D. I recently discovered how to pull down geo-satellite data of a terrain, from GoogleEarth, and import it into Torque 3D.

TGE's terrain size limit was 256x256 (4 sq. km). In Torque 3D, there is no size limit as long as your computer rig can handle it. I imported 20 sq km of terrain surrounding Crater Lake in Oregon into T3D.

  • @Peffe01 hey dude can you explain how to import the "Geo-satellite" data from Google earth ? i want to create a game based where i live, this information would be very useful i doubt ill use torque though i think i might stick to unreal development kit but ill give this a try :]

  • @KyleSimonEaster - Sure, just shoot me a private message and I will walk you through it.

  • Doesn't it cost money for that Updated Engine? *Not really saying this didn't, but but new one cost more*

  • unreal costs around 350,000 for a copy, cry engine is rather exspensive too, as Torque 3D goes for £100

Seriously these days who can spare 350,00 for a Engine. i wish i could

  • The unreal engine is now free to use for indie developers but you have to pay them some of the profits.

Torque is awful to work with

  • @SilphG - No. UDK is free to use, not the full Unreal engine. You will have to pay to sell your UDK game commercially, and pay royalties.

I don't know what version of Torque you worked with, but Torque 3D is a premier engine and a joy to use.

  • Watch Movies like Torque Game Engine 1.5.2 Walk Through at W W W . TV-Video . us

  • abyssalengine . com

    this is better

  • This looks like a nice PS2 game, that's about it. Certainly not cutting edge.

  • @CodyRicheson posted october 2007 to be fair

  • To be honest with you, this would have looked really good around 2002, so it was behind the times when it was released.

  • Its an old engine that they kept updated for quite a while. The newest is Torque 3D.

Personally I like, and use 1.52 because its so light on resources. Runs on almost anything.

  • Anything looks better than world of warshit

Id still only play a Cry engine game or Unreal engine game over this dog shit tastic engine.

    >: )

  • it dont cost you thousands of dollars to use per game like UT & cry engine

  • looks better than world of warshit

  • you can change and costumize ur charecter right

  • I'm sorry. I was mistaken earlier. Now that we have updated our games made with Torque database, which you can view on our website, it turns out we have 22 MMOs made with Torque Tech.

Quite a few of those support 100s to 1000s of players, and has been proven to do so. Do you bother to look up facts, or just live in your own fantasy world.

Better question: have you even made a game? Do you know anything about development? I seriously do not see you posting anything other than anger at Torque.

  • ROFL, get a clue

  • LOL are you dumb?

its a engine to create a mmo you fool

  • doesnt have to be an mmo :)

  • Mmm. Love the trolls with a chip on their shoulder against Torque that have buried my comments with thumbs down. So, why not repeat myself?

Torque has been used to make 5 MMOs, and at one point there were 2 MMO kits available. I'm sure this comment will be buried unless other Torque supporters (or people generally with dignity and brains) vote a + for me.

Gotta love the people who spend more time spreading hate on YouTube than, you know, making games...

  • @Peffe01 which mmos?

  • my hack job watch?v=p3aZ0OAnGCw

  • uhm you can't build a mmo with torque..

this engine is much better for that: abyssalengine . com

  • At least 5 MMOs have been made using TGE and TGEA.

  • Yeah, you can build an MMO with torque.

    Legends was the greatest one.

  • Torque engine is a pile of shit.. stupid mis informed sheep buy it and use it because they don't know any better.

  • Why do you say that?

  • He's just spamming every Torque related video. He has created at least 5 or 6 accounts just to copy and paste that same stupid response.

It's probably someone who wanted a "Make My Game" button that got frustrated tying to use a real game engine.

Either that, or just another fanboy of a different game engine. Either way, he does not know what he is talking about and would rather spend his day spamming vitriolic comments on YouTube instead of playing or making games.

  • good luck on the mmo

  • hmmm Tribes 2 was the best example of this engine in action way back when.

  • Torque is not freeware, and it has also been used by both indie and big name studios alike. The new Godfather II game by EA used bits of Torque. NASA uses Torque for Mars simulations. And the Penny Arcade Adventures games on XBLA were made with Torque.

  • torque is freware...big companies obviously wont use freeware engines

  • it isn't freeware.. look at garagegames, com and you will see that the pro version costs 3000 dollars..

  • lol a few companys use this like EA.

and it not freeware some versions only big companys can buy.

and almost every dev thesedays use other engines they dont make.

  • im so getting this i can make such a sick game with this

  • pealse telll me the sogn?

  • the song is Dirty Little Secret - All American Rejects :D

  • Im using it to make a Lego online game :) Dude you rock :D

  • How do you make your game online? Or when you create it is it allready online? Please reply back... x)

  • I really Dont know. I dont have this Purchesed or having it no more. Im going to Re Download it using what ever it takes. But that might be a while to respond to. First you make a site. Go to google and surch free Site. DO NOT MAKE BLOGG OR Forums. Then you will be able to upload you game to the site like club penguin , roblox and blockland. Some games will just need to be a downloaded games =| Hope this help you :)

    ~Coolkidbloo

  • If you had the ability, you'd know where to look for help and it's not in YouTube comments. Don't bother.

  • While not exactly how I would message it, bender970 has a point.

YouTube is a good place to post vids of your game or simple tutorials.

However, if you are using a game engine the best way to learn it is to read through the documentation, code, and community resources.

  • hi dude. You need help on this game? Ive got TGEA and im planning on getting the Unreal engine (What Gears of war 2 is made from i belive) and im a 3d modeeler as well as programmer. Please message back :D

  • Sure i guess. I just need a way to get this free. Im currently going to make a lego game when i get this. Actually my friend might send me his download link. gotta go!

    Coolkidbloo

  • This engine is so compecated. I thought it was going to be simple, its even hard getting onto the flipping program u go 2 the start menu and it gives u 6 differant things to open. Then u have to try and create somthing. I still havent figured out how to make a game and i have had it since july.

  • Welcome to the world of game development. Developing a 3D game can take quite a while, and is by no means an easy task.

If the very first issue you have run into is accessing the program and creating a simple app, you need to go back and read through the documentation and starter forums.

If you are having this much trouble, you might want to check out Torque Game Builder instead.

  • thanks m8, whats torque builder. Do u mean torque constructor. + i found XNA/C relatively easier than this game engine but i do still wish that i could use this.

    :)

  • Torque Game Builder is our 2D engine. It's insanely simple to use and has a massive amount of documentation.

The editor is ridiculously powerful and easy to use, and you'll probably spend most of your time in there or writing components in script.

There is a free demo you should check out. Special offer too: if you have trouble with the TGB demo, you can message me directly and I can help you out a little.

I won't make your game for you, but it's useful to have the docs/tutorials guy help you

  • Thanks, I will give it a try.

  • Its so simple to use. Thanks alot.

  • Actually FPS creator makes everything very easy.. And it's amazing with Fps Creator x10!

  • FPS creator sucks. Its one of those so called game engines where you thro w together models that other people have made. Its never TRUELLY your game

  • Yes, it can be truelly your game, and YOU can create models too, it does not suck, trust me, if you tryed, you'de like it. I do dis like it in someways though, with the fact that you can't create any place without a 8600 or 9600 graphics card, and you can't create any hills, or anything like that, so over all, my rate on the game creator would be 6/10

  • lol no you cant it sucks

  • YES You can..... you can publish it, and everything.. duh

  • nope you cant. you cant custom models and GUI etc etc. Its sh*t

  • Well, I do agree, it may not be as costumizable as others, but yes, you can buy the program off of their website and make models, and even sell them off of their website. I just hate the fact so, so much that it's very laggy when you put alot of stuff in....

  • i just got the mac. is this just like fps creator from the game creators cause that'll suck. or is it alot different with more option and fully customizable charactors where you can make rpgs and such? or does is differ slightly to give the user control to make hills and levels that arn't a set hight. rpg creator was like making a map with legos.

  • It is 100% customizable, especially if you own a license. Assets, functionality, UI, game play, FX...everything can be modified

  • fps creator does suck but the new fps creator x10 is way better but you need vista and this editor is good too

  • Want to make a fun EASY fps game? buy FPS creator x10 (you must have Direct x10 though) AMAZING graphics very easy game making, walling, fun with zombies and other enemies, easy lighting, and it's not what you would call a "simple" game maker.. you get soooo many opportunities of what to do, it's very amazing!

  • yeah i have it i, thanks tho. i just wanted to make a rpg game

  • im pissed, im trying to find a crack for this piece of shit and I cant find one! rrrrr...might as well program my own mmo and spend a year tinkering with C++, maybe even java. If you know how to get this full version for free, please tell me on my channel :)

  • this isnt shit, your mom is shit,

  • God damn the music is awful. You listen to that shit?

  • what wrong with rock i bet you listen to that shitty gangsta music jus to fit in with ur mates

  • That's a very poor imitation of rock. You do know there is more music to listen to than this shit and rap, right? So why would you immediatey assume that I listen to rap because I don't listent to this nail-on-chalkboard-pukefest?

That's like asking yourself, "okay should I listen to gay music or gay music?"

  • a poor imitation of rock?? how can it be an immitation of rock cmon man think strait i dont like it much either but i dont post comments about how shit the music is

  • This music is shit. You are a shit fan. Quit using your shit fingers to type your shitty fanboy rants. This isn't rock, it's pop-punk garbage.

  • there is general rock then there are little branches let me show you since your too thick to see it Classic (Guns n roses,ACDC, led zeplin) /

ROCK - Punk (best)(Sex pistols, The Ramones) \ Metal (slipknot, Trivium)

These fall into the influential side of rock where many bands make songs of the same structure and chord progression many bands start out like this then they go into differant catagories hope this helps you realise your place in music

  • Those were horrible examples for each genre.

    Metal =/= Slipknot. that's nu-metal.

  • i was just thinkin off the top of my head and was listening to them at the time

  • Yeah., ur d 4 admiting it but that music was shit. that was more like cruddy local band music than rock.

  • Whats wrong with those examples i luv their music.

  • Shitty lyrics that have the same idea used from the past 30 years. Generic riffs. Synths. Overall, bad.

  • lol, ok... i agree.

  • you will want to release your game with TGE Advanced, it's got a better large terrain setup and much-needed looks. i hear it's fairly easy to start with regular torque for stability and less code to wade through and then port over to tgea later, it's what i'm doing but whether you do it sooner or later, you need to upgrade to tgea

  • Lol, always the same. The dream of making an "MMO"-rpg is born and dies later...

Trust me, you wont make it.

Maybe a small "O"-rpg game but not the "MMO"

  • Who says I wont? Your not the one to tell me I cant. So what it may not be as big as something like WOW, it will still be an MMO.

  • hey you can make it.

i have also make MMO rpg game.

if you nedd any help reply.

  • Dude, how can you make a statement like that when you don't even know the poster of the video?

    The arrogance...

  • Trust me, i know LOTS of people who have said they are gonna make an MMORPG but they always die.

If you really want to have a chance you would have to get a crew because its alot of work.

  • And btw, if you are gonna make a Orpg game you would have to be using your engine for a "while" to learn everything so you dont really stop up at every line of code with an error :/

  • just shut the fuck up if you dont know the guy

  • Dam i really want this but it costs way too much.

  • it does have a few problems.

But its a whole lot better, more fun, interesting and pleasurable to code in and with compared to 3D Game Studio. Again, I like Torque a lot. :)

  • I figured it out. I do like Torque. install the Torque Engine demo. place it on your main hard drive...like in C:\ Place your scripts in a folder of the main directory where the Toque executable is. Like C:\3dtorque\demo. start the Torque program. Press the tilde key. A console box will come up. type something like in command line exec("demo/magic.cs"); hopefully no mistakes and it will compile. type magic1(); to run the compiled script. magic1() is the name of my main function.

  • Hello all. im planning to make a new mmofps , but there is 1 problem. i need developers. i dont know name yet and i dont now if it is f2p or p2p , or a additional p2p function. i have never worked in Torque but im learning it atm. if you are interested in joining my dev team pm me.

    btw nice vid :P

    Ciao,

    m4ster0fm0vies aka rec

  • I would be interested for sure, I'm also learning Torque.

  • I will help you, :) I just need to get torque.

Although i have lots of talents in 3d image making in autodesk, and can do lots og cool stuff on photoshop.

AND i have experiance in HTML and Python scripting.

But as i said once i get it i will be with you all the way.

  • sick vid man

    I wanna leran this stuff

    I got good ideas

  • HOw much does this engine cost? Anyone knows, I really need this information!

  • I costs $150 for the Indie version and $749 for the commercial. Both versions are exactly the same, the only difference is the price, you only have to pay the commercial price if you make over $250,000 per year.

  • Holy shit that's much!

  • True.

And its going to be my one of my last commercial purchase of programming languages/authoring tool. And for a very long time. check out the freeware version of Silent Walk and also 3D RPG Builder too. And there is always Play Basic and even Brutus2d..and with a dll plug in for Truevision 3d. ;)

  • I'd say this is the best game engine so far, accept from the more advanced ones. Making a game with this engine would be amazing.

  • yeah from wut i've seen it looks like the best indy engine, for wut thats worth- the big boys keep the indies down by overpricing the engines- the asking price i got from bigworld tech (engine behind Dark and Light) was half a million dollars!! and 300k+ for unreal engine. if you wanna make a game i'd reccomend trying this then porting it to TGEA (or juggernaught, an upgrade for it comin out eventually) it has shaders, bumps, DX9, and other shit needed to not get laughed out. good luck.

  • Is learning C++ difficult? I want to become a programmer myself.

  • Yes.

  • learning C++ is considered by me, a nightmare, i started with c++, and i am muttering through it, but learning an object oriented language is good.

  • its a nightmare lol

i just started and yet im already scratchin my head at some of the stuff lol me thinks i need more than just youtube tutorials

  • LoL!

I agree. Both Torque and 3D Game Studio are crap to code in. They are not geared towards for the beginner. Beginning tuorials, samples and scripts are few and really hard to find. How do you use and access Torquescript?? where do you place the text file in the directory of TGE and then start it up? How do you start, use and access Torquescript?? I code in Blitz3d, Brutus2d and also True Vision 3D game engine. And Play Basic. waiting?....... for answers on Torquescript.

  • Not if you have taken a course in C then C++. Going from C to C++ is a little boring as the beginning stuff is repedative but once you get into classes and operator overloading and virtual functions things fall into place rather easy. I've taken two OOP languages the second being Java 2, so I don't see this engine as being too hard to cumbersome for myself to use and I plan on purchasing it in a month.

  • Great engine. Starting my own game with a friend. I need an indie graphics devoloper though, I'm more of a coder although i have to do all the modelling, sucks.

  • does it work with torque mmo kit v1?

  • Does it require c++ and thanks for the answers.

  • Yes it does, if you kno the basics you'll probably do alright with it.

  • i dont know any c++ does the torque guide help you?

  • 10yroldguide: dude! then learn it..most games use c++, its one of the best languages out there...

  • "one of the best"??? You mean THE ONE AND ONLY!!! THE ALMIGHTY!!! let's take it short, it's the best

  • lol..correct!

  • ^^ was just bored lol but it's true it pwnzors

  • Torque does *NOT* "require" C++ knowledge. You only need to know C++ to rebuild/modify the engine itself. It's possible to make a whole game using only TorqueScript, a C-like language, but simplified and loose. If you start out with TS to build your game, by the time you hit a wall where you absolutely NEED to modify the engine, you'll be familiar enough with how Torque works to know what C++ code to modify. Changing specific code is easier than starting from scratch, and far less discouraging.

  • Hello. Im planning on making an mmorpg with 3friends. Is the engine hard to use?

  • I don't know the engine but i know how hard it is to create a game.

I think that 4 people are not enough to create an mmorpg. Try a smaller project first to improve your skills and to figure out where the limits are for your team.

  • Well it depends on the knowledge you have with scipting & stuff. If you are new to this kind of stuff I would suggest looking around GarageGames(DOT)com & look at different game engines they have there & seeing which one is right for you. You can make an Mmo with 3 people, its a good number to start out with. There people out there who make Mmo's & its only 1 or 2 people, so your off to the right start there.

  • How much does it cost?

  • It costs $150 for Indies or $750 for commercal. Indies is exactly the same as the Commercal but the price is made low so people who make under $250K a year can afford to start off their own games without the higher prices.

  • i want to make games it looks so fun, but they only problem is i dont know where to start i want to make a 2d game to start obviosly cos im not right good with computers, can anyone help me? cheers :D

  • Torque game builder, search it on google, from the same company but is made for 2d games.

  • As Q/Guizoodle said, on the garagegames site, they currently are selling an engine that would allow you to create a 2D game, and, should you feel comfortable enough with the engine and decide you do want to create a 3D game or two, then it is also upgradable to the 3D engine. (That last part I not quite sure about, but that's what is implied on the product's description)

  • @FlyPieTie - There is no upgrade discount or process going from Torque Game Builder (2D) to Torque Game Engine (3D).

The engines are 2 entirely different products sold as such.

Starting with TGB first is a good suggestion though.

  • GarageGames is the better than Microsoft. PERIOD!

  • Blender FTW!!!!

  • is it free cuz i can definately make a 3d mmorpg with this

  • It's not free, but it's a lot less pricey than other engines used to make award winning games. You can get a Demo copy and intro on how to use it with the book '3D Game Programming All in One'.

  • Woo, it's not hard -_-

  • LMAO, thanks for announcing. :)

  • @wooimsexy - I would slam you about pirating an engine that costs next to nothing made by a company that doesn't make much of a profit to begin with...

But I'm not worried because you will be one of those idiots who doesn't know shit about game development, thinks he can make an MMO, and gives up after a few days and goes back to playing WoW.

Btw, enjoy the Trojan virus you get with the torrent download.

  • Nice video. :)

For all of you who are looking to enter the game making realm, a good book that helps with the creation of 3D titles using Torque is one called "3D Programming All in One" by Kenneth C. Finney. :)

  • THANKS!!! BTW, do you know if it is in danish too?

  • I'm not sure. :) I've only seen an English edition. :/

  • I downloaded this thinking it was an actual demo which i could play around with, i would never buy anything i havnt tried before so i looked elsewhere :(

  • I believe this song is American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret, but I could be mistaken, I"M SO INTO TORQUE BAME ENGINE NOW!!!

  • nice vid man :D... whats the song called ??

  • when will the game be ready!? i will definatley play it!! XD!!!!

  • lol.. this is the Game Engine Demo, not a game in progress demo..lol

  • but he said he is planning on making one himself! read the discription! XD

  • Yes I did say that. I plan on getting my first beta out between June & Sept. I am still trying to get a server that can handle enough bandwidth for the game & has a low cost. & I'm still trying to get a site up.

  • ty:) and whats the song name?

  • Theres two songs in it, "Dirty Little Secret" & "I'm Waiting".

  • I'm know where you can get 500Gbytes per month bandwidth for zilch, but I'm not sure how much you need mate.

  • I know not I'm xD*

  • This engine rocks! I bought it some time ago and still love it. I will however point out that you do need some understanding of scripting in C++. If you have used Actionscript (Macromedia Flash... well actually it's adobes now I think), then go with Torque Game Building. But for those who are serious and have a low budget, this is great for you. If you have a bit more though and like me are power hungry for graphics, get Torque Game Builder Advanced.

  • Yes i have this to, Very nice engine to make a game with. The only problem i have is finding models that fit my game ^^

  • Nice! How easy is it to learn the scripting language for this program?

  • It uses basic C++ language.

I would get some knowlege on C++ first. You dont have to use alot of C++, which is good. I would recomend Torque Game Engine 1.5, cause its easyer to use. Hope that answered your question.

  • You have to buy it online at GarageGames. com.

You have a choice of just downloading it or getting a CD through mail.....

  • mm..... Where can u get ot Nito?

  • Its $150. You can google it and just select the one with garage games

  • Its awesome, the best one out there!

  • This engine looks great! Will google for it.
