Amy relied too much on her vocal for Open Door. Her voice is awesome but it doesnt make an album alone. Ben Moody is a fantastic composer, not the best singer. So when he's with Amy they are unbeatable

Okay. Everyone needs to stop hating on Ben. He writes some good stuff... and does some great stuff with the guitar. Amy Lee has a great voice and some decent music writing talent as well. Don't forget David Hodges either. He's off doing his own thing now and it's good stuff. With all of them together, they wrote and recorded some awesome music (read: Fallen). The Open Door has some good songs as well, but it's not the same as Fallen. We're not gonna get that again. Enjoy their works separately.
This is good. I think it would fit the vocals better if the music, especially the guitar sounded less processed and maybe dirtier, but based on this, I'd buy a Ben Moody album.

Second: Ev. were so much better at Fallen and epic with Origin, the guitar in Open is far too similar throughout the album, the composition is less skillful and every damned song seems to be about relationships. It's not a terrible album, but jesus it's a step down. The only improvment is Amy's use of her voice.
Please link the interview if this is true. I won't believe it until I see it. It almost feels like she's faking it to gain sympathy. If there were any abuse I am sure it went both ways.

I totally disagree with alot of you. Ben leaving was a good thing. Ive seen them live since and although I havent seen them live whilst Ben was in Evanescence, they fucking rocked! And the new band members are awesome, but its a shame John and Rocky left.
It's a catch 22. Ben and Amy both are awesome to me. And as much as I'm happy about them being happier and more successful separated, part of me misses Ben in Ev. He had so much intensity.

I totally disagree with alot of you. Ben leaving was a good thing. Ive seen them live since and although I havent seen them live whilst Ben was in Evanescence, they fucking rocked! And the new band members are awesome, but its a shame John and Rocky left.

It's a catch 22. Ben and Amy both are awesome to me. And as much as I'm happy about them being happier and more successful separated, part of me misses Ben in Ev. He had so much intensity.

I disagree. I went to see them in july and They were awesome! i'm going to see them again in NJ on Dec. 4th and I live in NC! Now i'm not going to travel 16 hours to see a bad live band play!

hmm, i don't agree with that. if anything, their sound has become a lot less mainstream (with the exception of "call me when you're sober"), which i actually find enjoyable.

but live back in moodys days. the solos were natural. now u hear terry trying to get a natural harmonizing feel in the music n it sounds like crap. they ruined haunted, going under, etc.

Don't forget, they managed to ruin Whisper (the most epic song ever turned to crap. oh boy.) maybe thats why they have virtualy no solo's on the open door.. cuz without ben, they can never play them live *rolls eyes*

Yeah the solos suck bad live. They really do ruin the Fallen songs when the solos roll around. Still, they're worth seeing live... if for nothing else but to hear Amy playing piano and her voice echoing through the place.

The more I listen to this song, the more I love it! Ben Moody is so great, Evanescence is just another band now, ever since he left. I hope his new album is good, and that I can get it XD

this is the 1st time ive heard this song. i was so sad when he left evanescence. im so glad to hear this finally. i guess i was too busy knowing what amy lee is doing i didnt know where this dude went. i miss him. now amy is married. :) time pass so fast. ;) ben should make an album. his voice is nice and his songs are good. ;)
